Common Questions and Answers about Pneumonia recovery dogs

pneumonia

Avatar f tn I had the same situation before but just a pneumonia bilateral not covid pneumonia. Are you feeling fine now? Based on my research on pneumonia, the person having it usually recovers for about 6 months. That is totally normal coz you're still on process of healing your lungs and our body is recovering from the illness due to pneumonia. Until now I am having the urge of taking deep breaths and still working on it until my breathing is normal.
Avatar f tn s Amoxi-drop how long should it take to work for the coughing in on sounds she makes. Took my kitty to the vet after she ate my dogs pain pill and I had to induce vomiting under vet recommendation. Some of the fluids got in lungs and it caused walking pneumonia.
973741 tn?1342342773 I love my pooch and hate to hear of this illness spreading around and they think it is going to get worse. They think it is bacterial spreading from dog to dog so the recommendation is no doggie day care, kennels or socializing with their fur pals right now. Hard to do but could save your dog. Dogs get sick very quickly and may develop fatal pneumonia from this. It's no joke. Thoughts? Are you worried?
Avatar n tn I would take your dog to be checked by the vet. If it is his breathing which is congested, it is possible for dogs to develop pneumonia, and you wouldn't necessarily be able to tell if that was the case. If it's only his nose, then there has to be a reason, and it's best the vet checks him. I would do that before you start trying to treat him yourself.
Avatar n tn Hi have an older golden retreiver just came down with back leg problems hard to walk on own problem standing ect. Started some recovery sa was wondering if this would be enough to possible fix her for while and how long it might take to work. Avatar n tn In general, the sooner a person can safely get up and moving around, the better--Helps maintain strength, prevent pneumonia, helps get the bowels moving regularly, improves circulation, etc. Good luck!
Avatar n tn 67 years old, now 75 has been diagonosed with COPD and gets chronic pneumonia. 43 now 53 has suffered a collapsed lung, chronic pneumonia, and fibers in his lungs. What I viewed as an isolated instances has got me to think differently. Home has carpet that is 28 years old. This carpet was installed during a time with the older two were smokers. The younger occupant moved in 13 years ago. The home has also had dogs, cat, birds. Outside of asbestos what causes fibers in the lungs?
Avatar f tn I found one of my 1 day old puppys, lifeless this morning after her mom had layed on her, it hadn't been to long before. I began rubbing her vigorously, swinging her down as though trying to bring her to life after a c-section. She coughed up milk, thank goodness she was alive!! Milk came out her mouth and nose, I cleared it the best I could. Now almost 12 hrs later, you can't even tell it happened. She's nursing, sleeping, acts the same as all the rest of her siblings.

Avatar f tn My father who will be 69 in a couple of weeks this month. He had quadruple bypass heart surgery on Nov 17, 2010. He did real well after a couple days then he started coughing - He just now diagnosed COPD (emphysema) and couldn't stop coughing. However, it makes an impact on his sternum. He was discharged a week after his surgery to the rehab to have a respiratory therapy. Hes been there for two weeks going on to the third this week.
Avatar n tn To determine if pneumonia is still present, direct clinical examination is important together with diagnostic tests. Pneumonia caused by a virus infection usually resolve after couple of days and recovery may also be affected by various factors including the medical history of the patient. If it persists, it is best that you have this checked by your doctor. Take care and regards.
Avatar f tn A few months ago, my mother was diagnosed with pneumonia. After a round of antibiotics and breathing treatments, she was pronounced well. Since being cured of the pneumonia, she developed diverticultis. This was quite a surprise. Mom is very healthy -- she is 70 and takes care of everyone else. She is very diligent about eating yogurt and taking her probiotics, often scolding others to do the same, especially while on antibiotics.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a 36 year old asthmatic woman and I take 250 seretide evohaler 2 puffs twice daily. I got pneumonia 2 months ago (end of August) and I still feel tired, no energy. Do you think I would be strong enough for the swine flu (H1N1) vaccine, or should I wait until I have made a full recovery? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Because my dog interacts with other dogs a lot, when he developed a "cough" I immediately took him to the vet. He had no fever, is eating and drinking normally and his activity level is normal - he doesn't at all act like a sick dog. I have kept him away from other dogs to avoid getting them sick. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough and put him on Doxycycline 100 mg - he takes 1 1/2 pills twice a day. He started them on Tuesday. He has also had a Bordetella vaccine.
Avatar n tn Will a patient see significant improvement on their PFT test after taking medication for a period of time. This was my orginal PFT test three weeks after having pneumonia and the second set of tests were performed two months afterwards. Do most people with COPD see this much of an improvement on their later PFT results or is there a possibility that maybe what I have is more asthma seen COPD? These were the results of my first test FVC ref 3.51 pre 2.74 78% post 3.
1733547 tn?1310332865 I am looking for ANY advise on helping my heart recover from congestive heart failure. It was brought on by a severe infection (believed to be a pneumonia infection). I was put into an induced coma for 9 days while the infection ran it's course and I'm thankful to God for bringing me back to life (my wife was told more than once to prepare for my leaving this world). My recovery has been miraculous - I broke every time line laid before me.
Avatar n tn He spent 10 days in the hospital and then went to a rehab facility. After 5 days he was sent back to the hospital with pneumonia. The doctor who admitted him to the hospital told me that his prognosis was very poor - she mentioned death and advised me to consult with the palliative care nurse. I am certainly not ready to give up on him yet! The pneumonia seems to already be clearing up, though I'm sure he will need to spend several days in the hospital.
Avatar n tn Could be kennel cough if she was around other dogs. This can be serious if left go. Call your vet tuesday. They can give her a shot.

Avatar n tn It was repaired two days later. She suffered aspiration pneumonia and a UTI fungal infection in the hospital. She was finally transferred to a rehabiliation center after being in the hospital for 4 weeks. In the rehab center, they told us she now has MRSA pneumonia. What are her chances of overcoming all of this? She is on a trach and at times seems very coherent. How much longer do we let her endure all of this? She never says she's in pain or uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn This Sounds like a respiratory infection going on.....Common in shelter dogs....However, pneumonia can be a result if left untreated......Pneumonia causes respiratory distress (Weird sounds) & death if left untreated....Oral or injectable antibiotics (From your Vet) are used to treat..... Avatar n tn However, a week later he presented with a high fever, wheezing, rattling sound when breathing and they diagnosed bacterial pneumonia. They gave him albuterol nebulizer treatments and zithromax. The next day we were back at the doctor and he had been experiencing severe coughing fits that led to vomiting and sweating, as well as clammy skin, and he was continuing to have a lot of wheezing sound in his lungs, despite the albuterol treatments.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with bacterial pneumonia in the right lower lobe about four weeks ago. I had antibiotic treatment and an inhaler for ten days. I had another chest x-ray after the antibiotic treatment and my doctor said that my lung was looking much improved. The coughing has ended, but I still have not returned to my normal energy level. Also, when I wake in the morning, I usually have a feeling of discomfort in the right upper quadrant of my body.....just a vague aching.
