Common Questions and Answers about Percocet medicine

percocet

Avatar f tn Thank you :). I just get worried and was wanting more opionions just to make sure. Helps talking to mom's who are/have went threw this!
Avatar f tn By the way. Percocet , and Vicodin are both a category C. "It is not known whether Percocet is harmful to an unborn baby, but it could cause breathing problems or addiction/withdrawal symptoms in a newborn. " Remember it's important to talk to your doctor if about the medications you're on. Good luck.
Avatar f tn Stop taking the medicine. Tell your doctor/source that you have quit. Change your habits. Tackle your underlining issues. Lean on support. Understand that you are not alone. Start that hobby you been thinking of. Read a good book about addition. You can only quit when YOU are ready to quit. Are you ready?
Avatar f tn But even percodan and percocet have apap and aspirin in them. But I did need pain relief. So my md wrote for a drug called OPANA its oxymorphone. It is a schedule 2 so most doc's don't want to write for it. But it has nothing else in it. As a pharmacist myself I felt safest taking that. Alittle tylenol is ok but I would have been taking 3 to 4 grams of it and that bad. Mention it to your md, see what he says.
1264863 tn?1391118193 There is deff a liquid oxycodone hydrochloride, I know this because I use to get the official bottles. One ml is equal to one mg. It came in 600 ml bottles. However Vicki maybe right since there is no Tylenol/acetominophin in it, afterall that is what make percocet percocet. Either way I don't believe it would be beneficial in tapering just because it would be easier to justify taking more. Just my 2 cents.
Avatar n tn I'm perplexed. I've had 4 back surgeries, permanent nerve damage, torn miniscus in my knee, degenerative disk disease & arthritis in my back/knee/hip etc. I take four 325 per day of oxycodone aka percocet. I've been with my Dr. for 19 years! Today I was told NO medicine at all showed up in my urine. I've never failed a test in almost 20 years.
Avatar n tn t overly sensitive, you can probably handle 3 Advil at once. Then after 4-5 hours you could take a different pain medicine like Percocet. When 6 hours is up (or whatever the bottle says), then try the 3 Advil again.
Avatar f tn So norco, percocet an morphine?? Were u on it your whole pregnancy?
Avatar f tn You need to call your Doctor right away and let them know the side effects your experiencing and that the medicine is not really working for you. The percocet is normally used for short term pain relief or as a breakthrough medicine. It only last a few hours and your tolerance builds and you need more and more to have it relieve your pain. I imagine this is why your Doctor switched you to a long acting medication, the morphine.
Avatar f tn Do not take tylenol and he percocet. Percocet is safe I took it with a bunch of my pregnancys. I had kidney stones bad and had to be hospitalized a lot and put on iv pain med but when it was manageable I was on. 1-2 Percocet 5's every 4-6 hrs through out my pregnancys. I only get bad stones while pregnant but my babies were all healthy, well the ones I took the medicine with. If you are in pain take your medicine bonus it help with pregnancy pains...
1527950 tn?1291828884 I have been on oxy 40mg and percocet 10-325 for about a year now, well my stomach was not having it and I couldnt stop throwing up, so Dr.put me on 50 mcg little relief but have only had it on for 13 hrs. is this thing gonna help me soon?
Avatar m tn I/ve been taking percocet (7.5/325) 3 times a day as directed. I've taken them for a little more than a year now for pain related to two herneated discs. I never take more than prescribed. They work, but it seems as though I have trouble sleeping. If i don't take an ambien, it seems as though i don't get tired until 1 or 2 am. Is this normal when taking percocets long term?
Avatar f tn Im new to the forum so if I'm posting this in the wrong section I apologize. I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot.
352798 tn?1399298154 In my case, even with my drugs gone, my wife has percocet for an injury from a semi-truck flipping and then wiping her off the road. Pills are poison to an addict. You really need to set your mind against ever using them.
Avatar f tn Hello I am going to go off a 3 year 4 -6 a day Percocet habit on Friday alone .. I have to do this for myself my children and my new job that I start in two weeks . My dr recently prescribed me Xanax and celexa for anxiety and depression but I was to scared to tell him about the pills I have been taking ... I have not started the celexa because I am scared it will interact with the Percocet and haven't taken Amy Xanax because i haven't needed it ..
Avatar n tn Percocet is safer during pregnancy. You may want to consider switching to percocet. Also, drink lots and lots of water. This will help you pass the stone sooner and prevent future stones.
Avatar m tn m hesitant to answer this because no one can guarantee the safety of any medicine, no matter how well-known or understood that medicine... however...opiates by themselves don't do "damage" persay...aside from the obvious stress on your liver and addictive potential, they don't get in there and permanently damage your systems. They do screw with your endorphin production but I really don't think it has anything to do with what you described.
656111 tn?1273820739 Percocet to Norco, then Norco to Percocet.... Is it good idea for doctor to do that? I wonder why does he do that? Both medicine works fine for me except for Norco that has lower apap. Before, it was just 2 times a day, but now its 3 times a day so my pain is tolerable as of right now. So I don't know. Any ideas, whatever? I'd appreciate your feedbacks regarding switching pain meds (like rotating)?
Avatar n tn I thought that pain medicine was BAD for your kidneys? I had dozens of bladder infections when I was abusing and when I came clean to my doctor, she said that was why...?
Avatar f tn Does the roxicet have Tylenol in it by any chance? When I was on Percocet, I was constantly vomiting my medication. I switched to oxycodone when they kept increasing how often I was to take it. Even though most people don't have a problem with Tylenol upsetting their stomach, I can't tolerate it. It can also be a temporary side effect. You don't mention how long you've been on these medications but if you just started, you may adjust to it.
874521 tn?1424116797 Percocet, Roxicet, Tylox, Endocet You have to have the name of the medicine .. not just the oxy ingredient. It works for meds such as Percocet but not Percodan .. You need to use a bit of name brand inputting. I hope this is helpful. I apologize it took awhile to get the answer. Let me know if this now works for you.
Avatar m tn They are both Oxycodone, but Percocet is the faster acting instant release medicine which also contains tylenol, and is typically taken every 4-6 hours, OR as needed for breakthrough pain when used in conjunction with an extended release med. Oxycontin is the long lasting extended relief form of oxycodone that does not contain tylenol, and is typically taken every 12 hours. So you are coming off of them now? Are you weaning yourself off them?
1326416 tn?1370927001 I am currently taking percocet as a break through med with morphine sustained release. I didn't have a choice on what I could take for breakthrough medicine. I don't take more than 1950 mg of tylenol per day via the percocet. I think the percocet and the vicodin puts a "cap" on how much a person can take before destroying their liver. My doctor has been very trustworthy of me but always wants me to stay on these combo meds.
Avatar f tn My medicine (Percocet-the lowest dose 5/325)seems to have gone "missing" during visits of my building repairmen due to recent AC leaking down from my ceiling apartment. I am a week away (the 7th of Sept) to get my refill so this leaves me with sleepless nights and agony. I called my Doctor who through an MA said she was reluctant but would fill it on the 30th.
Avatar f tn I am back to taking oxycontin 10 mg. every 8 hours. I stopped taking percocet which I was taking 10-325 every 8 hours as well. (not both at the same time). I have stopped the percocet and now I have to stop the oxycontin. but I get so sick after 6 hours... and I really struggle to make it to 8 hours... so I know it is going to be super hard to go the next step of tapering which is taking 1 10 mg. every 12 hours.
Avatar f tn Try taking a percocet then 2-3 hrs later take the motrin an d getting longer intervals in between percocet doses. So instead of taking percocet every 4hrs, try every 6 hrs then every 8. Just start weaning yourself off them instead of cold turkey. I had excision surgery (where they literally cut out the endo and surrounding areas and suspected areas) and also a appendectomy and supracervical hysterectomy 2wks ago tomorrow. I've been off all percocet for about 5 days now.
Avatar n tn The main risk factor is exposing your baby to the opiate. If your baby goes through the pregnancy exposed to the Percocet it will most likely have to withdrawal from it when it is born... is the doctor that is prescribing you the medicine your OB or your family medicine doc? Primary docs treat the patient- OB docs treat the pt AND the baby- so most OB's would recommend you taper off the medicine for the baby's sake.
Avatar m tn Found this via google I am not a medical professional for better information ask your doctor. Both oxycodone and acetaminophen have long-term effects that need to be carefully monitored by a doctor in patients taking Percocet for chronic pain and include: Liver damage. Kidney failure. Severe constipation. Urinary retention. Slightly decreased testosterone levels in men. Tolerance.
