I have read that some say hydrocodone works better for their pain than percocet and viceversa. For me, percocet works a lot better for my pain.
Hydrocodone does not come without acetaminophen...yet. There is a drug in development called, Zohydro that would be a long-acting form of hydrocodone without acetaminophen. Clinical trials are underway but the drug won't be on the consumer market until probably early 2014.
Its still an opiod analgesic but they are very different and Hydrocodone carries more of a risk and you should not breast feed while on it. Percocet is Oxycodone.
00 AM and along with it take a Percocet (Oxycodone) at 10:00 AM the answer is no, it is certainly not recommended. Ask the physician that prescribed both of the meds for you how he/she meant for you to take them.
They are both narcotic pain medications. The percocet is stronger than the Norco. However that doesn't mean that it will work better. Hydrocodone works better for me than Oxycodone.
It is good to let someone else hold and dispense your pills too --- Actually Percocet is a stronger drug than Hydrocodone so if you have that it would be better to WD from. The main thing is to set a schedule and a 'quit date' is very important. You can do this -- I started my taper using Hydrocodone after being on Percs for quite a while but then became impatient and switched to Suboxone -- what a mistake that was as I then had horrible W/D's from the Sub for 2 months.
are just trademarked names for the generics (hydrocodone and oxycodone)...also, those opiates can be combined with other analgesics instead of tylenol....example, "Percodan" is oxycodone with aspirin.
Sorry...hope I didn't confuse you...but while the drugs are very similar, and both strong opiates, there are a lot of differences, which people do not always realize.
My back is hurting badly since its cold and rainy and i was thinking about taking a hydrocodone. The percocet feels like its completely worn off. What would the repercussions be?
when u r ready to quit come back and post on the forum...hydrocodone should help/not quite as strong as oxycodone in percocet but very close...
That is a very low dose of Hydrocodone and a taper should work quickly. Start reducing by 5 mg every few days. When he is not having bad wd's reduce another 5. Those are normal wd's for low dose Hydrocodone which is not a powerful pain killer. There will still be some irritability after finishing all the pills. He will just have to do it.
I have quit hydro, oxy and injecting 100mgs of dilaudids every day. Those are brutal!
I was prescribed percocet for kidney stones in my last pregnancy. My doc said it's bad for you to be in pain because it stresses the baby out. If your ob have it to you and said to take it, just take it when it hurts. You don't want you or baby to become addicted. Good luck and I hope you feel better!
I have had wisdom teeth removed, a bad tooth extracted and my gallbladder removed in the past. For each of these I was prescribed either hydrocodone (vicodin) and tylenol 3. I have terrible reactions to these meds.I feel sick to my stomach, very dizzy, and I usually end up vomiting or having dry heaves (not fun when you have abdominal stitches for a gallbladder extraction.) They didn't help much with the pain either and I decided the pain was preferable to the side effects of the drugs.
Hydrocodone and percocet are the same thing. Percocet is just stronger. The only worry they have with either of those drugs during pregnancy is that baby will have withdrawals when born. But if the benefits outweigh the risk then I wouldn't be worried.
So vicoden 5/325 would be 5 mgs of hydrocodone and 325 mgs of tylenol. You should be able to find hydrocodone in India. The alternative would be Percocet which is oxycodone instead of hydrocodone. They both are very similar but the oxycodone is a bit stronger. From what I have read, a 5 mg percocet is equal to a 7.5 mg vicodin.
I would go with the oxycodone (percocet) over the hydrocodone (vicodin), because it's possible to get the oxycodone in it's pure form in a pill without the tylenol in it. The -cet suffix on the percocet is what denotes the acetominophen or Tylenol. In the generic form, it would give the mg strength of the pill (ie, 5/500) and then say APAP on the label.
So I took a percocet mid morning, and didnt need anything for the rest of the day. And then 24 hours went by and I hadnt had a norco...I still feel fine. But I know its cuzz that percocet is worse then everything! So that was dumb. I kinda liked feeling ok for the entire day without needing anything, that was nice. but I knwo it was wrong of me to do that. Still, tapered from norco big time! but had a big time crutch. owell. I gotta do what I gotta do and just quit everything one of these days!
Just a quick correction...Percocet is oxycodone with Acetaminophen, and Percodan is Oxycodone with Aspirin, not Tylenol. There are other, less common combinations, like Vicoprofen, which would be Hydrocodone with Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol (Acetaminophen).
Vicodin, Norco, Lortab are all Hydrocodone.
Dilaudid comes both in oral and injectable forms, with doses starting at usually 1 mg.
Fentanyl patches typically start at 25 mcg/hr (micrograms). I have seen lower doses, 12.
I was given percocet 10/325 for pain for surgery and was told to take 1 - 1 1/2 pills every 4-5 hours. I'm opiate tolerant but 15mg every 4-5 hours seems like a lot. Also I have percocet 7.5/325 that says I can take 2 every 3-4 hours. Is this posing any possible over dose problems or health problem? This will only be taken for a short amount of time.No more than 2 weeks. Any advise on the saftey of this would be appreciated.
I take Cymbalta for about12 yrs. I go on and off of hydrocodone. My lift from the depression is better when taking both. I go off of hydrocodone about every two months . So as to avoid addiction. I have noticed that I am depressed when I stop the hydro. Bad depression the kind where you need someone to sit with you for safety. Not taking hydrocodone is extremely difficult because with out it I am in 8-10 on the pain scale. I have had 6 spinal surgeries and I have no hope for any other surgery.
I am 26 years old and I am going in for my second knee surgery due to multiple patella dislocations. My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot. Now right now before my surgery my surgeon prescribed me percocet 5/325, which doesn't do anything, I have to take 2 (so it amounts to 10/325 to feel relief).
Percocet is the brand name of the generic drug oxycodone and acetaminophen and Vicodin is a brand name of the generic drug Hydrocodone and acetaminophen. Both oxycodone and Hydrocodone is a narcotic drug and are often used in combination with acetaminophen or APAP, a no steroidal anti inflammatory drug which helps in increasing their potency.
I am on Hydrocodone and Tramadol for when I run out of hydrocodone and it's not ready to be filled. I have a pre existing back pain condition.. & even if you were to abuse/not abuse narcotics like this you would still be addicted as your body becomes dependent on it no matter what!
