Common Questions and Answers about Patanol with contacts

pataday

Avatar m tn When he was checking me, he diagnosed me with Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis and put me on patanol eye drops - he said I was allergic to the contacts I was wearing and said that the pain I felt on my left eye was because I had a foreign body in that eye and my left eye is more sensitive than before. I explained to him that my right eye was fine and he told me that my right eye actually hurts just the same but it's overshadowed by the pain in my left eye.
Avatar m tn I slept in my contacts a month ago and woke up with blood shot eyes. This has happened three or four times in my lifetime. I am 26. I took out my contacts and put in alot of visine (which I know is wrong) and my eyes were mostly white three days later and I put my contacts in again. This happened again slight redness, for three weeks when I finally decided not to wear contacts for the following three weeks.
Avatar n tn I get stringy mucous in my eyes.My doctor gave me patanol but it only worked for 6 days.It has only .01 strenght.Would a stronger strenght relieve my eye symptoms?
Avatar n tn n drops, like usual, but he DID switch my contacts. So I did the drops, and after I was done with those, I tried the new contacts & contact solution. Well that didn't work..... Any thoughts, suggestions, anything. Is it the contacts, the solutions, should I start back doing allergy shots????
Avatar n tn I've had GPC for 4 years. I have not worn my contacts in 4 years (except for special occasions). I have chronic pain and redness in my left eye, even when I don't wear my lenses. I've been on the steroids, the patanol, etc. Nothing works long term. I decided to explore alternative treatments (acupressure, acupuncture, NAET, BioSet). Through NAET (naet.
Avatar m tn I bought a bottle of Patanol eye drops about a month and three weeks ago, I found the box a couple days ago and noticed on the box that it says discard thirty days after opening... The expiry date on the bottle says 01-2011.. Is this bad that I used the eye drops three weeks after it was suppose to be discarded? I only used three quaters of the bottle. I paid a little over fifty dollars for this little 5 mL bottle.... But what can you do....
Avatar n tn The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds. I am 5 foot 6 inches tall.
Avatar f tn t damp, but a few plaster flakes fell down on me from the ceiling, and at least one piece landed in my eye. Within 5 minutes (maybe sooner?), I started rinsing my eye out with tap water and then artificial tears, which I probably did for 5-10 minutes. It continued to feel like something was in my eye, so after about 15 minutes, I washed it out a little more. Finally I called an ophthamalogist, who had me come in asap (which was about 2 hours after the incident happened).
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to use Patanol and Xiloial together. But she said İ should use one of them first, then apply the other. Cuz one of them is gel or whatever. But now i cant remember which one she said that İ should use first. Can you please help me?
Avatar n tn My eyes become itchy and watery. I have used patanol in the past but the eye Dr is now recommending patasol which is very expensive. I want to try Zyrtec d instead of Zyrtec which gives me some releif. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar n tn I've had severe red eyes for almost 2 years and today was diagnosed with Superior Limbic Keratoconjunctivitis. This was the first time I'd consulted a doctor/opthamologist in that regard. The opthamologist prescribed a course of Maxidex to be taken every 2 hours as well as Patanol, which is to be taken twice a day.
Avatar n tn thanks for commenting back they are really good now not bllodshot and a little runny and not to bad today
Avatar f tn I am under the care of opthalmologists with regular check ups due to Keratoconus which is monitored and treated and has rendered me legally blind. Totally blind until I had a corneal transplant coming up 2 years ago in the right eye. I have tried to speak to my opthalmologists in regards to the conjunctivitis but they wave it off and prescribe a short course of Fml, Pred Forte, Maxidex or Prednisone depending on the severity of the flareup.
Avatar m tn I wear glasses and contacts for a slight astigmatism. When I wear contacts I can usually have them in for 4 or 5 hours and then I start to get a headache behind my eyes and on the bridge of my nose. Is this dry eye? I try using rewetting drops but it doesn't seem to make it better. Is there anything else I can do? As soon as I take my contacts out the headache goes away.
Avatar m tn My son was diagnosed with GPC around six months ago. He has been on an oral antihistimine (claritin) for many years and uses Patanol and theratears. He was told he could no longer wear contact lenses (that's fine) and hasn't since his diagnoses. There is little change to his GPC even after using a prescription eye drop with steroids and antibiotic. His opthamologist never asked if he used any face cleanser. He uses a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash, in addition to Clearasil pads.
Avatar m tn My eyes constantly have redness in them, mostly the outsides & the left one is more red than the right. How do I get rid of the redness in my eyes (without powerful medication). I'm already using an anti-allergy drop (Zaditor) which doesn't help THAT much. I've used Patanol before too. How can I get rid of the redness?
Avatar n tn You may want to look into custom fitted contacts, if you haven't already. I am also a high myope, with astigmatism. So, I've been wearing custom-fitted torics for awhile. However, I'm wondering about going back to gas permeable lenses. My prescription didn't change very much when I was wearing gp lenses, but it has deteriorated since I've been on soft lenses--even as I was getting older.
Avatar f tn Ive been wearing contacts for 20 years now with no problems. A few months ago my left eye got very red, no itching or burning or any other symptoms. When I took the contact out it hurt like crazy!!!! I left it out for a couple of days until the redness went away and tried again....same thing. I threw those contacts out. Yesterday I put in a new pair and the same thing is happening again. What could be causing this????
Avatar n tn Based on my experience, when your contacts make your eyes turn red, you should consult the eye care professional who prescribed them. You might do better with a different brand of contacts.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have been thinking about getting contacts for my myopia, but I have nystagmus along with a glaucoma filtering bleb in my left eye, can someone tell me if I can get and wear contacts with these? My eye doctor says I can, but I wanted a bit of reassurance before I pay out 100 bucks for a fitting. Thank you!
Avatar f tn Tobramycin, Patanol, and Amox-clav. Every time he uses them his eyes sting and have been of very little help for him. Also, after the first few days, he went raking out in his backyard for a couple hours. Could that have caused damage or an irritant to get in his eyes? What do you suggest he do?
Avatar n tn I wear contacts all the time, only glasses at night and also have been noticing the problems with contacts on when I try to see things with one eye closed. The optometrist said my cornea isn't smooth and has some splotches on it and to give the eyes a rest and wear my glasses for a few days. I'm not used to wearing them and am getting headaches with the imbalance in vision. I've been wearing contacts for over 15 years and have never had this problem.
