Common Questions and Answers about Patanol and contacts

pataday

Avatar m tn When he was checking me, he diagnosed me with Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis and put me on patanol eye drops - he said I was allergic to the contacts I was wearing and said that the pain I felt on my left eye was because I had a foreign body in that eye and my left eye is more sensitive than before. I explained to him that my right eye was fine and he told me that my right eye actually hurts just the same but it's overshadowed by the pain in my left eye.
Avatar m tn I took out my contacts and put in alot of visine (which I know is wrong) and my eyes were mostly white three days later and I put my contacts in again. This happened again slight redness, for three weeks when I finally decided not to wear contacts for the following three weeks. I have to admit I wore them for 16 hrs a day, and did not clean them as much as I should have.
Avatar n tn Zaditor is the leading OTC brand in USA. Patanol is the oldest formulation of prescription olopatadine and there are newer formulations pataday and Pazeo. They require prescription.
Avatar n tn The only change I have made in my life style is to take Patanol eye drops for allergy eyes. I have been using them once daily for 4 months. Could it be that this antihistamine can be causing this increase in my blood pressure? I am allergic to the drugs used for controling blood pressure and prior to this successfully lowered my pressure by exercise and diet.It is normal for me to have a reading of 130 over 80. I am 59 years old. I weigh 110 pounds. I am 5 foot 6 inches tall.
Avatar n tn After 2 weeks I went back to contacts and within a few days the same problems came back. So I kept having the same problems and went back to him multiple times, he gave me drops, the eye problems came back, then I repeated the process. Then finally around that following January, I went to the ophthalmologist. He gave me more drops, and said it might be the dorm I was staying in since it was an old dorm. I did the drops and like usual the problems persisted.
Avatar m tn I bought a bottle of Patanol eye drops about a month and three weeks ago, I found the box a couple days ago and noticed on the box that it says discard thirty days after opening... The expiry date on the bottle says 01-2011.. Is this bad that I used the eye drops three weeks after it was suppose to be discarded? I only used three quaters of the bottle. I paid a little over fifty dollars for this little 5 mL bottle.... But what can you do....
Avatar f tn , Last night, after reading so much information here, I happened to remember I had a bottle of Patanol in the medicine cabinet and I used it. I may be guilty of wishful thinking but it seemed like my eye felt dramatically better. I used the Patanol again this morning and so far so good.
Avatar n tn s so silght that it is not the cause of the ghost images. He prescribed Patanol and said to come back in 4 weeks. So far -- it's been two days -- the eyedrops aren't helping at all. Couple of other things: About two months ago, I had a CT scan of the head and a blood test done because I experienced dizziness and nausea. The cause turned out to be a sinus infection, but no other problems have been turned up.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to use Patanol and Xiloial together. But she said İ should use one of them first, then apply the other. Cuz one of them is gel or whatever. But now i cant remember which one she said that İ should use first. Can you please help me?
Avatar f tn m a woman (mid-40s) in good health--no regular medications except for Patanol eye drops and Zyrtec for allergies. Prior to this incident, I was told I have some mild scarring (or an "opacity") at the top of my corneas, possibly from years of wearing contact lenses. I did not not have contacts in at the time of this mishap.
Avatar n tn not infected just really running only at night time and really runny i the moring and really good in the afternoon.and iam also ona allery med too.
Avatar n tn My eyes become itchy and watery. I have used patanol in the past but the eye Dr is now recommending patasol which is very expensive. I want to try Zyrtec d instead of Zyrtec which gives me some releif. Any other suggestions are appreciated.
Avatar n tn Systane, Blink, Refresh, Soothe and something for allergies like Patanol or Pataday. If your allergy is bad enough to require a steroid then lotemax, or pred mild would be better choices.
Avatar f tn After the removal the regular steroids were stopped and my surgeon handed my care back to my opthalmologists. I am also regularly on Patanol and lubricating drops. How can I address this issue to my opthalmologists to encourage them to look into alternative methods of treatment if there are any rather than prescibing a short course during an active flareup?
Avatar m tn My eyes constantly have redness in them, mostly the outsides & the left one is more red than the right. How do I get rid of the redness in my eyes (without powerful medication). I'm already using an anti-allergy drop (Zaditor) which doesn't help THAT much. I've used Patanol before too. How can I get rid of the redness?
Avatar n tn I am 30 years old and I have phimosis for as long as i remember myself.Today i went to the urologist and for the treatment he recomended only circumsion.I told him about preputioplasty, but he never heard about it.Do you know any doctors in Los Angeles area,or any refferences.Google search didn't give any result.
Avatar m tn He has been on an oral antihistimine (claritin) for many years and uses Patanol and theratears. He was told he could no longer wear contact lenses (that's fine) and hasn't since his diagnoses. There is little change to his GPC even after using a prescription eye drop with steroids and antibiotic. His opthamologist never asked if he used any face cleanser. He uses a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide wash, in addition to Clearasil pads.
Avatar f tn Tobramycin, Patanol, and Amox-clav. Every time he uses them his eyes sting and have been of very little help for him. Also, after the first few days, he went raking out in his backyard for a couple hours. Could that have caused damage or an irritant to get in his eyes? What do you suggest he do?
Avatar n tn Saw your post and can help. Dr. Browning at HealthSource of Southlake. Helped lots w/ headaches and migraines.
Avatar n tn have an eye allergy and sometimes (once a week) I have to take steriod drops because my eye becomes red and swollen and itchy. Otherwise I use patanol. My doc prescribed me Vitreolent for the cataracts but I already use too many drops that irritate and dry my eyes, I don't know what to do so I also have to use artifical tears. My question is: 1. Can my cataracts be caused by the steroids or the other drops I use? 2. I have 20/20 so how can I still see and have cataracts? 3.
Avatar n tn It was initially thought to be allergies, but the Patanol did not help. Opthamologist then prescribed tobradex, which worked until I came off it. We then moved to longer tobradex usage that tapered over two weeks. Came back again once I came off. Then moved to oral antibiotic for one week and zylet - no results. Now oral antibiotic for two weeks - no results.
Avatar m tn My only question was could I use contacts for these instead? And if so would I have to get the opthamologist to prescribe me some or could I just go get some from walmart?
Avatar m tn it comes and goes the burning and my eyes are really dry
233622 tn?1279334905 Hi. I've had one serious bout of ON. Wore contacts before and contacts still. I've never had any problems with contact lenses BUT they have to be fitted correctly to the shape of your eyes. Also, I use the extended wear types - not the daily ones. The less I handle my lenses the better. Contacts should feel comfortable as soon as you put them on. Dry eyes or debris will make the hurt. Hope that helps.
