Common Questions and Answers about Pataday with contacts

pataday

Avatar m tn He perscribed more Pataday and some eye drops and told me in about a week i could resume with contacts that were dailys . A week after has passed and my eyes are getting red. Please help because i hate wearing my glasses and want to return to my contacts and this is not working .
Avatar f tn I was scared and revisited the doctor. The doctor prescribed me Pataday. On using Pataday for a day, I was afraid if it could resolve the issue. I took a second opinion from a diff. Doctor. The doctor prescribed me Lotopred, Ikul, Systane ultra eye drops for every four hours a week and said not to wear lenses for 10 days. I followed the instructions and my eyes got back to normal.
Avatar f tn I am at my wits end. I have been getting eye infection after eye infection for over a year. At first I went to my regular doctor, then my optometrist and now an ophthalmologist. At first they were every 3-4 months, then monthly, and now they are occurring two weeks apart. Ophthalmologist thought it was my contacts but I've been wearing them for decades with no problems. I switched to dailys anyway and got an infection a week later.
Avatar f tn I am a contact lens wearer, and I continually getting eye infections, for about the past 2 years. (I've been wearing contacts for about 5 years.) My eyes get very red and become painful, and occasionally swell. I become very light-sensitive and my pupils constrict to the point where I can barely keep my eyes open. I have removed my lenses to see a mucus-like build up on several occasions. My doctor has prescribed me TobraDex in the past, which sometimes helps after a few days.
Avatar f tn I had temporary (week long) eye plugs put in my eyes due to dry eyes along with Pataday once a day eye drop for eye allergies. My eyes plugs were put in on Wednesday afternoon. How long does it take for the plugs to work, I mean my eyes aren't burning like before, but they're still somewhat red. I don't know if it's cleared a little, but I don't see a big difference. How long before my eye plugs clear up my dry eyes.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with GPC and recently ended the use of steroid drops. Ever since I've stoped the steroid drops, I've woken up with crusty, glued eyes. Could the lingering GPC be causing this? I've been doing artificial tears multiples times a day and Pataday drops 2x a day. I have a follow up appointment soon, I'm thinking about trying to move it up if this is something serious.
Avatar f tn My eyes experience a mild redness (especially in the inside corners of eyes), burning, uncomfortable irritation with increased light sensitivity for the past three months that occurred initially during a trial of Xalatan (I was not wearing contact lenses at the time). I've been to three opthalmologists (one is a repected corneal/external disease specialist at university).
Avatar n tn Try punctal plugs to help with dry eye. Finally try out of the contacts for a month or so - if the redness improves then it may indeed be the contacts or solution that are to blame. Then you can go about trying different contacts and solutions.
Avatar n tn I have GPC and do not wear contacts. I’ve been on prednisone eye drops for the past week with no relief. Was on Pataday for a month before that with no relief. What can I do?
Avatar f tn Some people especially women can, without any specific reason, lose the ability to wear contacts. If you develop GPC it is even more likely you will not be able to continue with contacts. In our Discover Vision Centers Refractive Surgery unit we find that as many as 10-15% of patients having PRK or LASIK are because they lost the ability to wear contacts.
Avatar n tn I was recently had an eye exam and pointed these symptoms out to my doctor, but she seemed to think nothing wrong. I did have a mild case of conjunctivitis (I think) and was perscribed Pataday eye drops to deal with it (I've noticed my contacts have been sticky after taking them out of my eyes and I have developed more of that "gunk" in my eyes when I sleep, but it seems to go away with use of the eyedrops). One of my eyes is slightly weaker than the other.
Avatar n tn m an allergic person, and I live in an area with plenty of pollen and no winter. Daily application of Pataday has been a godsend for me.
Avatar m tn Hi. I was wondering if i could use Pataday if i have ocular herpes? Are there any risks that i should be aware of when using Pataday?
Avatar n tn Zaditor is NOT the same as Patanol or Pataday. My doctor told me not to mix and match. NOW AARP Rx is sending me a generic Olopatadine HCL by Rising Labs and I am paying the same price as the Brand Patanol which works great for me. I live in NE NJ..
Avatar f tn I went to my opthamologist. The doctor prescribed Tobramycin and Pataday. Using both eye drops the condition got better with just a bit in the right eye. My opthamologist took me off the antibiotic and told me to do the Pataday (allergy drops). Which I have. Yet, my right eye is tearing excessively and my right eye is tearing a little bit. The inner tear duct is very itchy and sting at times.I already got another opionion and was told that it's allergies.
Avatar m tn There can be many causes but for many folks it is jsut something they live with and control with there are flareups, but those of affected with it have to learn to live with it. In my case I have to use a steroid ointment. But when it flare up there is absolutely nothing I could have done to prevent it. I stopped wearing any eye makeup years ago, etc.
Avatar n tn Are steroids such as Maxitrol or Tobradex *supposed* to help with eye burning caused by dry eye or can it make your symptoms worse? I'm dealing with allergic conjunctivitis (again!) and dealing with burning eyes. thanks!
Avatar f tn t tell if it has added to already existing discomfort. Have beenn Restasis, Alrex , Pataday and now Muro ointment. I see a well known Corneaologist and he wants me to have the Amniotic Membrane Transplant especially now that I have developed the eye cysts. I don't know what to do -- wld like other opinions on this procedure and its history on long term resolution of Conjunctivochalsis. Also, are my cornea issues related to the extended use of Restasis? Alrex & Pataday?
Avatar m tn I wear glasses and contacts for a slight astigmatism. When I wear contacts I can usually have them in for 4 or 5 hours and then I start to get a headache behind my eyes and on the bridge of my nose. Is this dry eye? I try using rewetting drops but it doesn't seem to make it better. Is there anything else I can do? As soon as I take my contacts out the headache goes away.
Avatar f tn Have you have been evaluated to see if you have something called 'Dry Eye'? It's very common as we get older, and leaky, teary eyes are, paradoxically, one of the most troublesome signs (you can google 'dry eye' and see if you recognize yourself there). The rezoom lens almost certainly has nothing to do with your symptoms, but it sounds as though it's time for you to have another visit with your eye doctor about the excessive tearing.
Avatar n tn I am so frustrated. About a year ago I had an episode with wet AMD at 30. My shot has done well and the doctors says things are looking good. However, I am a teacher and their is something about school irritating my eye. It started last fall when school began, about every 4 weeks I would have some type of eye infection and really severe dry eye. I felt like I worried my eye doctor to death. We would do drops it would be better and then reoccur. I was great this summer. No problems at all.
Avatar n tn You may want to look into custom fitted contacts, if you haven't already. I am also a high myope, with astigmatism. So, I've been wearing custom-fitted torics for awhile. However, I'm wondering about going back to gas permeable lenses. My prescription didn't change very much when I was wearing gp lenses, but it has deteriorated since I've been on soft lenses--even as I was getting older.
Avatar f tn Ive been wearing contacts for 20 years now with no problems. A few months ago my left eye got very red, no itching or burning or any other symptoms. When I took the contact out it hurt like crazy!!!! I left it out for a couple of days until the redness went away and tried again....same thing. I threw those contacts out. Yesterday I put in a new pair and the same thing is happening again. What could be causing this????
