pacemaker

Avatar n tn Resistance is increased when the vessels constrict and there is less resistance when the vessels dilate. High blood pressure (sustained) damages vessels and the added workload for the heart eventually weakens (by enlarging) the heart's contractions. An enlarged left ventricle can cause arrhythmia (irregular heartbeats), and a pacemaker can provide stability to the heart's electrical output.
550432 tn?1215133317 My wife has a pulse rate of anywhere from 85 to 110 BPM, she is 69, blood pressure is normally around 135/78. She takes a blood pressure pill lisinopril, she is not over weight and healthy otherwise but she also gets foot cramps when she retires for the nite. Can any one suggest what she might do to find out what the problems may be?
Avatar f tn I have only had my pacemaker for 2 months. I am on 2 high blood pressure medicines and one water pill.
Avatar m tn s natural pacemaker (sinus node in the right atrium) may be irregular. Your medication helps control high blood pressure and probably would be prescribed without a pacemaker. Also, the med helps stable the heart rate, but if the sinus node pacemaker output is abnormal, the heart rate could be slow enough to cause formation of blood clots and a heart attack or too fast causing the heart to be unable to pump enough blood into circulation with each heartbeat and cause heart failure.
1265236 tn?1270066926 I used to have High blood pressure and within the last few months it has been low, maybe the cause of the fainting spells. I also have hypothyroidism that the doctor is having trouble controlling. I was diagnosed with mild MVP many years ago. My concern is that I'm noticing the arrythmias more and more frequently and they have changed over the past few months....first heaving rapid pounding, then fluttering with some shortness of breath, now flip flopping.
Avatar m tn The pain associated with an implanted pacemaker may be musculoskeletal or nerve related. Most likely related to the minor surgery required for insertion of the pacemaker. This type of pain related to the incision should heal within weeks. If you have persistent chest pain at the site of the pacemaker, it might be reasonable to see your doctor so that possible causes can be evaluated.
Avatar n tn High cholesterol, high blood pressure are the silent killers. Cholesterol build up forms clots and high blood pressure dislodges them. Hope this helps.

Avatar n tn She has to be careful to know what to avoid with having a pacemaker. High power lines can actually cause the pacemaker to stop working and then she would need to get another one.

Avatar m tn Q: Did any one experience high fluctuations and big increases in BP after the pacemaker (St Jude PM2210) implant? - I am 74 yr old diabetic with hi-BP. I got my first pacemaker installed around mid Sept, '11. After getting the pacemaker, my BP readings have been progressively worst week by week.
1437229 tn?1296070020 On some occasions when I stand from sitting, or otherwise significantly change my posture, my blood pressure drops. I can get very light headed and need to hold on to something. My blood pressure is usually on the low end of normal.
4763188 tn?1358868279 A little stress can easily make blood pressure jump up to that number. 137/68 isn't really high (it's actually in the normal range), but maybe you should ask his doctor for a 24 hour monitoring just to make sure his BP is fine? Another alternative is to buy a home BP monitor and check his blood pressure when he is at home, relaxed. But again, 137 systolic isn't very high. Had it been 160s or above, it could be problematic.
Avatar f tn We have had a EEG, CAT Scan done and nothing has shown up. Where do we go from here? I was also wondering can the pacemaker be set to high they have it set at 60 bpm.? They are trying to tell us that it might be her inner ear I do not believe it.

Avatar m tn High BP and heart rate that went as low as 31 and flucuated during the day from 31 to as high as 40. My blood pressure is always high and I take medication for it which keeps it pretty much under control. Because the very low heart rate that lasted for almost a week that I know of (it was the week of memorial day) I delayed in calling my doc. When I did go and see him he set me up immediatly with a Cardiologist who put me in the hospital the next day and put in a pacemaker.
Avatar n tn I have always had high blood pressure until recently ,I also have atrial fibrillation ,my heart became slow and irregular dropping into the 30's at times and my blood preesure was low bottom number even dipping into the 30's now it fluctuates its about 120/75 sometimes but then it drops to 84/40 sometimes even lower . Avatar n tn My father, 89, recently had a pacemaker inserted due to bradycardia. His PMD and internal medicine specialist started him on Coumadin afterwards. Since my step-mother had been hospitalized a week before with GI bleeding due to long term (20 years) effects of Coumadin, my father is reluctant to keep on with the medication now he's at home.
