I just thought it was nerves because I was off all my pain meds...I gave the entire bottle of OPANA ER, all 240 tablets, minus the few I took Back to the doctor,,,,they made me SO SICK! and I DID get a rash! I got a rash from another med he gave me, Clonidine, and then he looked it up and told me only 2 % get the rash! Well, i fell into that catagory!
Not sure if the three times daily (or TID) dosing is better for you pain regimen. Consult with your provider to consider Opana ER 30 mg three tablets every 12 hours if you both agree that it is a better option for you.
4. Why are you converting to fentanyl patch? Is your pain not well controlled? What is you pain rating, based on the scale of 1-10 (with 10 being the worst pain you have)?
I was recently on 30mg of Opana ER 2x a day and then I was allowed to take up to 4 tablets of 10mg instant release tablets for break out pain. I have found that the 30mg of Opana ER 2x a day is helping me tremendously. However, the 10mg tablets for the breakout pain wasn't doing well for me, so the doctor switched me to 30mg tablets of morphine up to 4x a day for breakout pain. I haven't been able to tell the difference yet, but I hope this is the answer to my breakout pain.
and people I have talked to that are on the Opana they use the Opana IR for breakthrough with the Opana ER. Have you ever tried Oxycodone HCL (immediate release) 15mg, or 30mg tablets for breakthrough pain? I am on Morphine Sulfate and use the Oxycodone for breakthrough and it works well... until your body adapts to the oxycodone and you require an increase in the dose... that's my only hurdle with it.... good luck....
I have been a pain management patient since 2008, when I was put on a new medication (old now) opana. It worked great back then. Well as we know it has been re formulated many times since then. I thought it had stopped working, so back in oct of 2016 pain mgmt dr put me on methadone 10mg tablets total of 6 at 3 pills twice daily. With breakthrough of 3 percocets. Before that in 2008 my breakthrough was norco.
t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.
I have been taking Opana ER 30mg. 3 times a day for several months. My doctor has moved to Alaska and gave me 3 months of prescriptions while I find another doctor. When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey.
I used to take 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day but I switched to the Fentanyl patch last month. 30 mg of Opana ER is roughly 60 mg of oxycodone or 90 mg of morphine.
10 mg of Opana ER is roughly 20 mg of oxycodone or 30 mg of morphine. You are actually getting 5 mg less of oxycodone through the switch from percocet to Opana ER. However, since Opana ER is an entirely different opioid formulation.
Ive been taking oxycontin 80, (6 day) & dilaudid 8 (8 day) for 15 years due to many health issues ... I was just put on opana 40 ER (4 day)& Opana 10 (4 day). Since i've been on the new meds i think i have been blacking out; l be doing something and i open my eyes and i dont know where i am, or what just happened, Are these seizures??? Or Withdrawals ??? Both?? Does Anyone Have Any Input?
You are taking Opana ER every 4-6 hours? Opana ER is meant to be taken every 12 hours, not every 4-6 hours. In fact, most insurance companies will not pay for extended release medications to be taken more than 2 times per day. I am very surprised that both your doctor and insurance are permitting the dosing schedule you stated.

my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks...
i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...
