Common Questions and Answers about Opana er on the street

opana

Avatar m tn I hate opana ER, especially the reformulation. I take them as prescribed with little to no pain relief and terrible side effects. They tear up my stomach and give me horrible indigestion. Yet, my DR wont switch me to something different.
1331804 tn?1336867358 So later in the week last week, I called my doctor and told him all of this and stated that I was going back to the original dose of 30 mg in the morning AND at night. At this point, I was about to toss the Opana ER and go back to the Morphine ER BUT before I did that, I researched more about Opana ER and discovered that it takes 3-4 days to reach a steady state level in the bloodstream so I decided to stick with it awhile longer.
Avatar f tn I have never felt so sick to my stomach, with NO pain relief, and quit taking them with no backup, felt THAT crappy, as I did on OPANA ER! And that was after 3 days, I felt sick the first day! When I even THINK of it, I want to throw UP! (Unfortunately, I have never been able to do THAT, or I would have after taking them the first time!
571096 tn?1217008564 Were you taking any other pain meds before you started the opana? Some meds they have to start you on really low if you dont already have a tolerance to opioids. But defenitly call your DR and let them know your having breakthrough pain and that your having headaches from it. If you can take advil you may want to see what that does for the headaches. I know that pain med headaches are awful, more like migrains sometimes. I hope your DR can help you out. Let us know how it goes.
1445110 tn?1388209711 at 16 went back on the pain meds because i just couldnt take the pain and tried to start with lower dosed ones like nucynta 100mg, ultram taking 250mg at a time then went back to the 10mg norco moved back up to the 10mg percs then they added the 30mg oxycontin back it was just a horrible cycle well last october i had a bad flair up and was scared because my doctors didnt really communicate with me they just throw scripts at me well i found a good doctor who put me on 30mg ms-contin 3 times a da
Avatar f tn I used to take opana but they took it off the market and I was put on morphine sulfate er, that is the drug that tested negative. It was either false negatives both and they did send it to a lab or they set me up just to take me off the opioid. I know it sounds crazy for me to think they would set me up but it is even crazier to me to be accused of selling my meds to take other opioids. I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TAKE STREET DRUGS OR ABUSE MY MEDS!!!
1855076 tn?1337115303 I've been on pain meds for the last five years. Long story, many surgeries. I took myself off a boatload of meds and was in and out of withdrawals most of that time. I transferred my care over to my primary care who gave me a script for up to 5 10 mg. oxycodone a day. For a long time I took nothing and just dealt with the pain. With the changing weather, I started using my script here and there and a few weeks ago was back to every day.
1444483 tn?1468516489 s for the last year. My new pain management doctor suggested Opana ER. He told me that in the 7 years of him prescribing the medication he has not had a single patient become addicted to the medicine like patients do on Norco's and other pain meds. The norcos have started to just not work since my tolerance has built up to them. I am taking one Opana in the morning and one at night, with my norcos as a back up pain reliever.
541953 tn?1262586226 Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find. I am hoping the Morphine ER will lessen my side effects and cost, I was only on Opana for 2 months but it did not do the job for me. I know everyone has different reactions to meds. Please let me know how you are doning .
Avatar m tn HI THERE, IM A RECOVERING ADDICT FROM LOUISVILLE KY, AND I JUST WANTED TO TELL ANYONE OUT THERE WHO IS ADDICTED TO OPANA ER OR IR, DO NOT QUIT TAKING THE MEDICINE ABRUPTLY WITHOUT BEING IN A TREATMENT FACILITY. ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE WANTING TO BEAT THEIR ADDICTION HAVE BEEN TRYING TO QUIT BY GOING TO SUBOXONE DR.S OR SUBOXINE TREATMENT FACILITIES AND ARE BEING TOLD THAT IF YOU TAKE A VERY HIGH AMOUNT OF A STRONG OPIATE THAT SUBOXONE WONT HELP. THIS IS VERY FALSE INFORMATION!!!

Avatar n tn I take opana er 10mg 2-3 times a a day along with percocet 10/325 tablet 3x a day! The opana is for around the clock relief and the percocet is taken with the opana to help with the pain while I wait for the opana to start working!
Avatar n tn t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.
Avatar f tn Has anyone heard of the drug Opana ER. Checking into detox tomorrow to rid myself of this drug. Can't be done on my own, tried cold turkey thought I would die.
Avatar m tn When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey. Can anyone tell me what to expect? It's been two days and I'm pretty sick.
Avatar m tn Opana ER seems to be a good bit more popular than immediate release oxymorphone, a possible reason may be that Opana ER releases into the bloodsteam very evenely throughout the entire duration of the pill's life. Whereas instant release Opana spikes high and fades quickly. Given to a regular Opana ER patient, a 20mg Opana ER "peaks" at a level of 2ng per mL as far as plasma concentration goes.
Avatar f tn my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...
Avatar f tn I'm a multiple sclerosis patient (for the last 8 years) and I have had every single pain med known to man, in that time... All boils down to this - for the last six or so years, I have been on either OxyContin 40mg ER or Opana 40mg ER - every 12 hours & never at the same time; I complained the other day that the Opana wasn't doing its job right (it wasn't truly "bad" - I was just ready to try a different opiate due to tolerance of the OxyContin & the Opana...
Avatar m tn I agree with Geminigirl and Tuckamore's comments that medications affect everyone differently and what may work for someone may not work well for you. But given my recent medication change to Opana ER, I have found information all across the internet from other chronic pain patients that are being switched from Oxycontin to Opana ER due to their doctor's unwillingness to continue to prescribe the medication due to bad press and associated fear from DEA prosecution.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Opana ER 20mg for pain. Pain is gone but NOT taking the Opana ER is giving me horrible effects like weakness all over, cold chills, hot and cold flashes, and nausea. Does anyone know how to effectively get off this stuff, I have tried to do it slowly. I'm completely off of the Opana 10mg for breakthrough pain. I have added an hour each time I take the Opana ER 20mg ( started every 12 hours then 13, 14, etc.
Avatar f tn Chances are, if Opana is an expensive drug, my health insurance would rather my physician prescribe something different! I really appreciate the information though and also the input on alternating medications to avoid tolerance. This site has been very helpful to me. I am glad it was introduced to me. It is a success due to people like you who take the time to answer questions.
604815 tn?1220102163 did 2 surgeries on his hip he needed a total hip replacement but they said he was to young.he went to a pain management dr. who put him on the opana his hip was bone on bone.he finially got the hip replacement he has been in need of on jan.15th problem is now he is dependent on the opana he is aware of this and agreed to let me administer his meds.he found them and took out about 50 of them he dident think i would know.
1331804 tn?1336867358 m thinking the 20 mg Opana ER is optimal not the 15 mg Opana ER tablet but he may be applying a cross tolerance to make sure the transition to Opana ER goes smooth with minimization of side effects. I plan to talk to him about my conversion results on Monday and see what he says. To All: Opana ER I've heard is a great medication and that it works really well for many chronic pain patients so I am very happy to be able to try it and see if it gives me a few more pieces of my life back.
Avatar f tn I've been taking Opana er 30mg 2x's daily and it's not showing in my urine either. Doc put me back on Opana after 2 wk. break...He wants to see in my urine in a week...NOT SURE WHAT I'M DOING WRONG?? However, waiting to see what pharmacy says...ANY COMMENTS APPRECIATED : )!!
1264863 tn?1391118193 I was moved up a tiny bit on the Oxycodone for the next three months and then she is wanting me on Opana ER. BUT if my insurance is much higher there is no way I can do it so that might be a factor here as well. It makes me nervous about it that nobody here seems to be on it or know much about it either. Is there a long acting a could suggest that might be similar. And if this is a morphine type medication it will not work for me.
