Avatar f tn is this known to continue w/ opana use? also...if you do end up going up on dosage does that start the side effects all over again or once you go thru intial adjustment u could be home free? fyi--i've been on lortab, vicoden, norco and percocet in the past (at seperate times) and lortab-no drowsy or headache vicoden-drowsy norco-indifferent...but less side effects than lortab percocet-indifferent which by the way is why i have lortab as breakthru...

1445110 tn?1388209711 Hi Hessycat, Opana ER is extended release oxymorphone. It is widely prescribed and according to what I have read and from reports of our members it is a fairly safe medication. That said, we are all different and our systems respond differently to medications. My experience with Methadone was not pleasant either. My system did not tolerate it well. My prescribing physicians changed my opiate and I did much better. Your physician prescribed Opana ER for you so don't be afraid to take it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming on suddenly? I know the Opana ER doesn't last 12 hours (even my doc warned me this was the case) but this latest batch of opana seems to poop out & give me old sweats about 4 hours after taking it. I've been on Opana ER, 20 mg 2x/day for a couple of months. It's my 2nd experience with long-acting opioids (1st was Oxycontin MS, quit after 10 days due to gluten issues).
1444483 tn?1468516489 From what I have heard from a few others Opana has been a life saver for them. This is from others that have never been on any other long acting med before so they had nothing to compare it to. I have tried Opana and have tried many other long acting meds and for me it was not as effective. As far as the side effects were concerned it was the best one I had ever taken thus far. It was as if I hadn't taken anything at all. No bad side effects at all.
541953 tn?1262586226 Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.
1264863 tn?1391118193 My doctor is moving me from percacet and oxycodone to Opana ER. I don't know what it is or what to expect.
Avatar f tn I've been taking 5 percocet 10/325's a day for a year or so. It does great for my pain but I love the euphoria it gives me and motivation. My body is wired to where I get wired when I take it. My question is would switching to opana er still relive the pain and not give me the wired out and euphoric side effects that I'm starting to enjoy so much? I've heard opana er and ir have the opposite effects.
Avatar n tn There is probably some cross tolerance and your doctor applied a 20% cross tolerance factor when converting you from oxycodone to Opana ER. This is to protect you from severe side effects and a potential overdose of the Opana. After switching from one opioid medication to another, most patients require at least one dose titration.
725248 tn?1316162245 has anyone gotten headaches and felt drowsy on opana er? does this possible side effect go away as your body adjusts like most side effects...OR...is this known to continue w/ opana use? also...if you do end up going up on dosage does that start the side effects all over again or once you go thru intial adjustment u could be home free? fyi--i've been on lortab, vicoden, norco and percocet in the past (at seperate times) and lortab-no drowsy or headache vicoden-drowsy norco-indifferent...
202665 tn?1248806733 I take opana and percocet for pain then At night I take 2mg xanax + 4mg zanaflex + 20mg ER opana + ambien cr + lyrica . sometimes I sleep for a straight 5 or 6t hourss but if i don't catch that 'window' I'm up all hours of the night a lot!
Avatar f tn I was hoping that all you kind peps would give me your input about Opana ER. I am on fentanyl 175/48 hrs. right now. not what I want it to be. I really need to find a solution. Thanks.
Avatar f tn He is finding it more and more difficult to just handle day to day activities, however I am very concerned with the addiction side effects of Opana or any Opiat for that matter. I do not want to see him in a rehab situation because of pain killers. There has to be a better option.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I am extremely happy with the pain relief I am getting from the Opana ER. I only need 2 percocets in the morning 3 hours before I take the Opana and most days I don't need any additional percocet for breakthrough pain for the rest of the day. I am somewhat in disbelief over the amount of pain relief I am getting. My pain over the past 12 years has always been undertreated and I never thought I would see the day when it would be adequately treated.
Avatar n tn As far as the Opana goes, I did try that once, but like many of the other meds, I ended up in the ER, with a slew of problems/side effects. However,I believe that it was the ER form that I was on. Again, thank you for your suggestions and I will definately research and speak with my doctor about them.
Avatar n tn I have been taking Opana ER 20mg for pain. Pain is gone but NOT taking the Opana ER is giving me horrible effects like weakness all over, cold chills, hot and cold flashes, and nausea. Does anyone know how to effectively get off this stuff, I have tried to do it slowly. I'm completely off of the Opana 10mg for breakthrough pain. I have added an hour each time I take the Opana ER 20mg ( started every 12 hours then 13, 14, etc.
1331804 tn?1336867358 m thinking the 20 mg Opana ER is optimal not the 15 mg Opana ER tablet but he may be applying a cross tolerance to make sure the transition to Opana ER goes smooth with minimization of side effects. I plan to talk to him about my conversion results on Monday and see what he says. To All: Opana ER I've heard is a great medication and that it works really well for many chronic pain patients so I am very happy to be able to try it and see if it gives me a few more pieces of my life back.
653169 tn?1303446369 I do know that all to often things like this are not listed as side effects. The problem is that the doctors and or patients do not report them and so they too often get looked over as is the case here. I am sure there are many documented cases they just are not reported. I am not sure what the protocol is far as doctors reporting side effects but we as Pt's can call the pharmaceutical company and report effects. this will help many.
Avatar f tn OPANA ER works very differently than other pain drugs.I found it to be very good no side effects no 'high'. But they have removed it from the market for some really stupid reasons.
Avatar n tn I went to a knew Dr yesterday & he put me on Opana ER 10mg 2x a day & Morphine Sulfate IR 15mg 3x a day for break thru as needed. I've been on Roxicodone 30mg 6x a day & Norflex 100mg 2x a day prior to this appt yesterday. From what I've read on here the Opana ER is a good pain reliever after it gets into your system in approx 4-5 days so I'm hoping that is true bc so far I've not had any relief but I'm gonna give it a few more days.
