I told my doc I want to get off of opioids or anything else addictive. He wanted me to start using the Opana ER in low doses because it is a slower, longer lasting release unlike the vicoprofen which is immediate release and only lasts 4-5 hours, then the withdraws kick in. I suppose the intent is to reduce the onset of WDs between small doses.

when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?

, you may find that Oxycontin is more effective regardless of the fact that the strength of Oxycontin is lower than the strength of Opana Er. I have never tried Oxycontin; however, my physician said that we would try it if the Opana ER isn't effective. I have found Opana ER to be very effective in the management of my pain. I still have pain that breaks through during the day but I have a lot more control of my pain throughout the day than I did when I was on MS Contin.

Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.

I have been taking Opana ER 20mg for pain. Pain is gone but NOT taking the Opana ER is giving me horrible effects like weakness all over, cold chills, hot and cold flashes, and nausea. Does anyone know how to effectively get off this stuff, I have tried to do it slowly. I'm completely off of the Opana 10mg for breakthrough pain. I have added an hour each time I take the Opana ER 20mg ( started every 12 hours then 13, 14, etc.

How safe is Opana? Since I began taking the drug, both of my arms get freezing cold and I have a hard time urinating. Will these side affects go away?

s no other family history of stokes in my family. Can anyone tell me if opana could possibly cause a stroke and the type of drool as described above. Opana is the only new thing in my life period, and I'm afraid it's the culprit. Please help is possible.

I agree with Tuck. We are all different. I was recently switched to Opana ER 30 mg two times a day. Before the switch I was taking Morphine ER 30 mg two times a day PLUS 7 percocet EVERY DAY and STILL battled pain. I now only need 2-3 percocet a day and live virtually pain free. I have done some research on Opana, and it is special in that it binds to not only the mu opioid receptors but also the delta and kappa opioid receptors.

Anyone taken Opana ER? My doctor wants to switch me from Oxy to Opana ER and I am very nervous about it. Any advice is helpful.

I have been taking Opana ER 30mg. 3 times a day for several months. My doctor has moved to Alaska and gave me 3 months of prescriptions while I find another doctor. When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey.

I take 12-15 lortab 10 a day,my doctor in an effort to help me get off,gave me opana er but insurance wouldn't cover,it cost too much to pay out of pocket.looked up some ER meds my insur.would cover.here they are hydromorph,oramorph,and oxycodone er. I know I am trading one substance for another but have tried weaning myself off the lortabs and screw up everytime.His,my doc's idea was for me to take the opana er twice a day for a month then once a day.I have legit.

t been nearly as in touch as I wish to have been while here in this rehab center. I came here because after detoxing for 4 months on my own (from Opana ER), I realized that I couldn't even figure out how much help I still needed. After being at this rehab center for a week, I don't have Opana in my system anymore. I am now on Suboxone (4mg two times a day). I have heard all the warnings about Suboxone, and plan to be off it within 1 1/2 weeks.

After starting to take Opana ER, the adjustment period was rough and the worst of it lasted about a week. During the first week of taking Opana ER, I experienced extreme fatigue in the morning so much that I kept my eyes closed for a good hour after waking up...I was getting ready for work with my eyes closed! Additionally, I would wake up at 3 am every morning in severe pain.

my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...

Yes. I take 10mg opana along with 15mg er opana. Then I also trick the mom in law to giving me her 30mg morphs between my pills.
