Common Questions and Answers about Opana er med

opana

Avatar f tn I really need help if anyone knows if a ER med turns into a IR med if chewed so I can start my suboxone tx. sooner then the 36 hrs. I was told to wait. Thank you.
Avatar n tn t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.
Avatar f tn I am currently in pain management I have been prescribed most recenlty Opana ER with Vicuprofin, and Lidocaine, but since I started the Opana it makes me too drowsy and I am suffering from Diareaha. I spoke to another person who said that she takes oxycodone and it helps her with the pain and it does not make her as drowsy. I work in a very stressful position which requires me to make snap decisions so the drowsiness does not help and I also sit at a computer most of the day..
1445110 tn?1388209711 Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.

1264863 tn?1391118193 Anyone taken Opana ER? My doctor wants to switch me from Oxy to Opana ER and I am very nervous about it. Any advice is helpful.
Avatar m tn Yes. I had taken Vicodin for years on and off and now I can't as I get a rash, which is itchy. What's worse is the itching inside my ears, throat and nose. You may need to change your med. I just started Opana er today. How did it work for your pain?
1444483 tn?1468516489 s for the last year. My new pain management doctor suggested Opana ER. He told me that in the 7 years of him prescribing the medication he has not had a single patient become addicted to the medicine like patients do on Norco's and other pain meds. The norcos have started to just not work since my tolerance has built up to them. I am taking one Opana in the morning and one at night, with my norcos as a back up pain reliever.
Avatar m tn when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?
571096 tn?1217008564 I am new to Opana Er and am taking 3 5 mgs a day. It is helping my quality of life but I am having headaches and still having breakthrough pain. I go back to my doctor next week and wonder if I need a different dose. Any ideas?
1264863 tn?1391118193 My doctor is moving me from percacet and oxycodone to Opana ER. I don't know what it is or what to expect.
Avatar n tn You may need a breakthrough med with the Opana ER. You've gone from taking 25 mg. of oxycodone daily to 10 mg. of Opana, the difference being the Opana is extended release. Different drugs are not equal milligram to milligram so 10 mg. of Opana ER may work fine, or you may need a breakthrough med. If it's been a couple of weeks and you're not getting relief, go back to your doctor to figure out what works best.
Avatar m tn has anyone ever been prescribed opana er 20 mg i take it q 12hrs but it only lasts 8 hrs and for bt pain i take norco 10 -325mg q6 hrs. that only lasts apprx. 1.
Avatar m tn I agree with Geminigirl and Tuckamore's comments that medications affect everyone differently and what may work for someone may not work well for you. But given my recent medication change to Opana ER, I have found information all across the internet from other chronic pain patients that are being switched from Oxycontin to Opana ER due to their doctor's unwillingness to continue to prescribe the medication due to bad press and associated fear from DEA prosecution.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had issues with withdrawal symptoms coming on suddenly? I know the Opana ER doesn't last 12 hours (even my doc warned me this was the case) but this latest batch of opana seems to poop out & give me old sweats about 4 hours after taking it. I've been on Opana ER, 20 mg 2x/day for a couple of months. It's my 2nd experience with long-acting opioids (1st was Oxycontin MS, quit after 10 days due to gluten issues).
Avatar f tn I was hoping that all you kind peps would give me your input about Opana ER. I am on fentanyl 175/48 hrs. right now. not what I want it to be. I really need to find a solution. Thanks.
Avatar f tn ve been on fentanyl 100mcg every two days for about two years with no break through meds i go around and around with my doctor about this he even says that he knows my pain is severe enough for break through meds but because of a incident about 6 years ago he says he isnt comfortabnle prescrbing it to me BUT if i can afford to go to a pain managment clinic once and got a recommendation for it he would honor that the thing is i didnt have insurance and now i have state medical insurance they only
541953 tn?1262586226 Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.
1895503 tn?1332373374 ve read, cutting the ER version of opana does NOT bypass the time release. Opana was made to try to deter people from abusing the oxycontin inside. The old pills marked OC had just a time release layer around the outside that could be taken off and the drug could then be abused. As a work around they made the time release process different, so cutting the pill or "dissolving" the time release layer wont work anymore.
Avatar n tn Not sure if you have tried Opana (oxymorphone) yet but based on pharmacology, it is a little stronger than Dilaudid (hydromorphone) mg to mg. I am on 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day. They do have Opana in immediate release form. Opana has a long half life, even in immediate release form, such that 6 hour dosing works extremely well for most patients versus the 4 hour dosing of oxycodone. Oxymorphone is the metabolite of oxycodone...
725248 tn?1316162245 I've been on Opana ER for about a year now and it is the best pain medicine I have ever used for my chronic back pain. HOWEVER, I urge you to use caution and do not take more than is prescribed because when you run out, you will have withdrawals that make you think you're dying and nothing else will make it better. Opana hell is what my husband calls it.
Avatar f tn my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...
