when i could not find oxycontin i would take opana er 40mg. opana(oxymorphone) is about twice as potent as oxycodone. they are rather new i believe they came out in 2002?

Opana ER has been a LIVESAVING drug for me, non sedating, i can hold my huge babies and have no side effects, I highly recommended the ER, you take it only 2 x a day, I ran out one day before my pain doctor appt and am in excruciating pain in back and hips. Had no idea how well it was working until I am having to go 2 days without and about to DIE.

Hi, Iknow it has been a few years since your post, i was wondering how you are doing on the Opana ER. I am switching from Opana 30 mg ER to Morphine 60 mg ER.The Opana gave me side effects, dizziness, being in withdrawl if I missed a dose, and it did not help my chronic pain.. I have tried many ER drugs and I am having a hard time finding many of them. Plus my breakthrough meds are also hard to find.

s for the last year. My new pain management doctor suggested Opana ER. He told me that in the 7 years of him prescribing the medication he has not had a single patient become addicted to the medicine like patients do on Norco's and other pain meds. The norcos have started to just not work since my tolerance has built up to them. I am taking one Opana in the morning and one at night, with my norcos as a back up pain reliever.

My doctor told me that my last drug screening came up positive for Opana ER. I have never taken Opana. How in the world could this have happened? I know many people won't believe me, but it's the truth. I'm just trying to figure out how this could happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I was switched to 100mg Morphine 2x a day only after 2-3 months is not doing anything after 4 hours for now HE switched me to Opana er 40mg 2x a day the morphine worked while i was at work taking it 1 hour before going to work(Chef) but as soon as my 6 hour shift was ending The pain has become unbearable,now with the opana er I am feeling bad pain during work,I really am not sure what I am Asking,basically has anyone who has severe chronic pain who has to work like me ,I just need some wisdom t

Anyone taken Opana ER? My doctor wants to switch me from Oxy to Opana ER and I am very nervous about it. Any advice is helpful.

I used to take 30 mg of Opana ER twice a day but I switched to the Fentanyl patch last month. 30 mg of Opana ER is roughly 60 mg of oxycodone or 90 mg of morphine. 10 mg of Opana ER is roughly 20 mg of oxycodone or 30 mg of morphine. You are actually getting 5 mg less of oxycodone through the switch from percocet to Opana ER. However, since Opana ER is an entirely different opioid formulation.

So later in the week last week, I called my doctor and told him all of this and stated that I was going back to the original dose of 30 mg in the morning AND at night. At this point, I was about to toss the Opana ER and go back to the Morphine ER BUT before I did that, I researched more about Opana ER and discovered that it takes 3-4 days to reach a steady state level in the bloodstream so I decided to stick with it awhile longer.

My doctor is moving me from percacet and oxycodone to Opana ER. I don't know what it is or what to expect.

My old medications equaled 120 mg of morphine equivalent a day and my new medications equal 180 mg of morphine equivalent a day from just the Opana ER!!! That is a 60 mg increase!!! The Opana (oxymorphone) is a much stronger medication than morphine and percocet. I talked to my pharmacist and he thought the titration was very high and suggested that I call the ER to get a more definitive answer. He said in opioid resistant patients (like myself), I would probably be okay.

t know how many 5/325 mg Percocets you were taking a day before switching to the Opana ER 5 mg, but to have equivalent pain relief from the Opana ER, you had to have taken only 2 Percocets a day. If you were taking more than 2 Percocets a day then the switch to Opana ER 5 mg was a step down in terms of pain relieving strength.

I have been taking Opana ER 30mg. 3 times a day for several months. My doctor has moved to Alaska and gave me 3 months of prescriptions while I find another doctor. When I dropped off the 2nd prescription the pharmacy told me they have ordered Opana several times over the last month and the order has not come. I called every pharmacy in my town and they said the same thing. Tapering is out of the question, so I guess its time for me to stop taking it, and it will have to be cold turkey.

Hello i think you have a very high tolerance to pain meds and i think you will do fine taking the opana er, as long as you do not take more than your told to take,i don't think it's gonna knock you out or anything,and you can continue to function as a wife and mother,it's sorta like methadone,it can be fatal if abused,it is also an extended relielf med.

had neck fusion and now severe back pain...I have been on Opana ER 10mg 3x for about 8 months and I want to escape...I realize I am addicted...my first question...is withdrawal harder if you have been on a drug a long time...or is it harder if you have been taking large doses?...and...do you suggest I taper or go "cold turkey"...I don't know if many of you realize how many "seniors" are on these powerful drugs...

My doctor recently put me on opana ER 40 mg., too be taken twice daily. I've been taking this medication for approximately two weeks. Since I've started this medication, I find myself drooling one drop of saliva uncontrollably, it just comes without notice and is very embarrassing. This has never happened before. Also, six days ago, I had a stroke. I'm only 42 yrs. old, with no history of high blood pressure nor anything else that could possibly cause one to have a stroke.

I just detox off 50 mg OPANA ER in one week, I don't recommend it . The Doctor prescribed hydros the lowest MG 325 @ 3 a day , everything in my body hurts and my temper is short , anyone know a better way to cope with this ? I was one Opana for over 3 yrs , I feel like I'm jumping out of my skin.

I am not a fool and cant and wont do it cold turkey, been there done that, I have taken 40 mg of meth 2 days ago and have done roxis and had a fetynal patch on for 2 days, I have a presription for opana er and as I was reading it I noticed the scary for me word antoginist (sp?) the only time i was given any pain pills was after surgery. i just went to a dr. and he prescribed me opana er 10mg. Is this unusual?

I agree with Tuck. We are all different. I was recently switched to Opana ER 30 mg two times a day. Before the switch I was taking Morphine ER 30 mg two times a day PLUS 7 percocet EVERY DAY and STILL battled pain. I now only need 2-3 percocet a day and live virtually pain free. I have done some research on Opana, and it is special in that it binds to not only the mu opioid receptors but also the delta and kappa opioid receptors.

My body is wired to where I get wired when I take it. My question is would switching to opana er still relive the pain and not give me the wired out and euphoric side effects that I'm starting to enjoy so much? I've heard opana er and ir have the opposite effects.

You are taking Opana ER every 4-6 hours? Opana ER is meant to be taken every 12 hours, not every 4-6 hours. In fact, most insurance companies will not pay for extended release medications to be taken more than 2 times per day. my dr just put me on opana ER 10mg 2x day and 2 lortab day for breakthru...before that was prescribed and taking 4 norco 10/325 daily and was not controlling the pain...i've been in this constant flar-up phase few weeks... i've only been on opana er for 2 days so i know it takes around 5 days to kick in and dr says this mg is a starting point for me and will move up some accordingly...i'm glad and surprised that my pain has subsided some...
