Avatar n tn Im currently 10wks pregnant with my second baby.iv been so sick 4wks of 24/7 nausea and 1 1/2 weeks of vomiting and I was unable to keep food or fluids down I was prescribed ondansetron wafers and maxolon tablets and vitamin b6 unfortunately this didn't help me at all and resulylted in going to the hospital for a IV drip.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar m tn I cannot seem to keep the wafers, or barriers as some call them, attached. The stool just pushes up and out and makes the wafer come off. It does not drop in the bag like it is supposed to. I am taking 400 mg of stool softner and miralax per day to try and soften things up as the doctor told me this should help the situation. I have a recessed stoma, it does not poke out. I have used concave and regular wafers, but not used the belt as I do not like it.
Avatar f tn Personal experience and objective data tell me that Roche tablets are best, and that there are no inconsistencies between the brand and generic wafers. The wafers have little room for error, as they are very rapidly absorbed. Binders and fillers in tablets are all subject to variation (depending on the manufacturer), which likely affects absorption, and subsequently, onset of action, AUC Max, BA and BE. One day, I intend to write a post with my objective findings on this subject.
Avatar f tn My doctor prescribed me these vitamin d3 wafers that I'm suppose to take weekly since my vitamin d is a little on the low side and he says vit d deficiency can cause several birth defects. So I've been taking Replesta vit d3 for 3 weeks now its one chewable tablet per week & just now I just read on the indications and use sheet "NOT TO BE USED BY PREGNANT WOMEN". Says it can cause heart defects in fetuses amongst other things. I dont know how to feel right now.
Avatar f tn They're pretty good because they work a lot faster than the pills, and they don't taste bad to me. They just dissolve in your mouth and go to work! I take them when I can't control my anxiety any other way, but I must say that for some reason the pill form seems stronger even with the same dosage. This could be because of what they mix it with. If you don't like waiting an hour on the pills, then the wafers are a good choice. They are also a bit more expensive (just a bit).
Avatar m tn I HAVE BEEN ON METHODONE PINK LIQUID AT A CLINIC, THIS WEEKEND THEY SWITCHED ME TO THE WAFERS I TAKE 100. 2 AND 1/2 WAFERS. I WAS FINE AT THAT DOES BUT NOW WHEN I TOOK THW WAFERS SAT AND TODAY I AM HAVEING WITHDRAWS WHY? ITS SUPPOSE TO BE THE SAME RIGHT ?
7510956 tn?1411671417 s Ginger Trips (or the wafers) for my nausea and/or stomach ache. Dizzyness, they are good for all those things, great you discovered them. I'm not finished with my tx.
Avatar n tn I've heard of methodone being referred to as "pink wafers". I'm 27 days off of methodone.I personally refer to it as "pure evil".Stay away from metodone.Just my opinion.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar n tn Wafers are expensive and cannot be cut. You can cut a .5 mg tab into fourths easily. Each fourth will equal .125 mg. I have taken a long slow taper and have had no withdrawal yet. Hope it continues. Hope you can be successful also. good luck. Ryan is definately the guy to listen to. If you can afford the wafers or have coverage I would take his advice.
Avatar n tn The wafers are equal to 1/2 of the .05 mg tab. The wafers instruct you not to break or cut them, but my doctor said it would work and it did. I used a pill cutter. It wasn't always a uniform cut but it worked out in the daily total. I started by taking two wafers=.05 mg per dose. I took away a quarter wafer from my daily total(started w/ am dose). I stayed at that amount for two weeks and then took away another quarter wafer and so on. Your doctor has to prescribe the wafers.

Avatar m tn Our 3 year old autistic boy will not eat anything AT ALL. Except vanilla wafers. He does drink a lot of apple juice and some fruit punch. He also drinks about 2 baby bottles of formula daily (keeping him on this for his vitamins and nutriments). We tried force feeding but any feeding is a physical battle of flying arms, hands, clenched teeth, twisting head, etc. Not wanted to tramatize him anymore we have given up and are letting him eat his cookies.
7945295 tn?1397658820 Good question, I just educated myself on aspartame, a sugar sweetner that is sweeter than regular sugar, but lower in calories. I bought sugar free vanilla wafers, only to find out they aren't really sugar free because it contained that ingredient.
585414 tn?1288941302 A 2006 double-blind, randomized controlled trial indicated that ondansetron may have value in the treatment of schizophrenia, as an adjunct to haloperidol.
Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks right now and I have been taking ondansetron to help with the nausea... And it helps out!!
