Ondansetron orally

Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron orally

zofran

Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar f tn Tell your Dr. They can give you anti nausea tablets that work wonders. It can be dangerous not to eat and drink and throw up too much, so it's important you call them. I got Ondansetron orally disintegrating tablets. Super cheap and worked great the few times I was sick. Hope you feel better! Keep drinking water!
Avatar f tn I never had hep A, but have considerable experience with nausea and vomiting, While on treatment for hep c these symptoms were almost continuous. Ondansetron 8mg ODT (orally disolving tablets) worked well and gaviscon, that I learned would stop my retching immediately. One morning I was standing at the counter trying to figure out how I was going to get down 20 grams of fat so I could take my pills and began to retch.
8518086 tn?1407289593 I have really bad nausea as well. My doctor prescribed me Ondansetron, an orally disintegrating tablet, to help subdue my nausea. It's helped me get sleep at night because my nausea seems to be worse around bedtime. And since the tablet disintegrates orally it's gets into your system a lot faster.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.

Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar f tn For most people Zofran can be given by IV in the hospital or orally anytime and it works very effectively. For myself, Zofran has no effect on my nausea. Oral Compazine does work for my nausea so I take it every six hours to help me manage my nausea. There are a number of other drug also options available for nausea which I am sure they are trying. A feeding tub won't necessarily make a difference with the nausea. It all depends on what is trigger the nausea.
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Haven't done any research or asked a Vet. All I know is, that it is EFFECTIVE and long lasting. The chemical name(s):: 'ONDANSETRON ODT'...4mg or 'ZOFRAN ODT'....4mg (Mfg.
Avatar m tn And yes Nexium as Pepela suggested is also in the PPI class
484033 tn?1208516117 This is because there are a lot of drugs (e.g. Granisetron, Ondansetron, and Aprepitant) available which are highly effective at controlling these symptoms. So with proper medication, you shouldn't worry too much about vomiting. Capecitabine comes in tablet form and is taken orally. It commonly causes diarrhea and mouth sores (55% of those who take the drug). The diarrhea is usually mild (the stools just get softer) and can be controlled by drugs such as loperamide.

Avatar f tn I'm 32 weeks right now and I have been taking ondansetron to help with the nausea... And it helps out!!
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water. I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!
Avatar f tn Hi am in my 13th week and is having bad nausea my doctor gave me this Ondansetron tables which helped a lot but am concerned about taking it. Any suggestions on should I take this medicine as it help me to work??
Avatar f tn I was on it for 4 days before that specific one stopped working and I ended up in the hospital again.. I'm 19 weeks today and had to take diclectin, ranitadine, and ondansetron up until 16 weeks regularly now it's just if i get stressed.
Avatar m tn My mistake, the emptying study was negative, so doctors suspect Gastroparesis is unlikely. I have tried 5-6 different anti-nausea medications - orally, IV and suppository. e.g. cyclazine, maxillon, buccastem, domperidone etc. Any other ideas?
Avatar f tn I am not happy with taking drugs while pregnant but I have lost a extrem amount of weight and it has been stressed to me medication and iv fluids are absolutely necessary. So have been taking Ondansetron (Zofran) and another prochlorperazine. I am very scared of what I have heard about these two drugs and my huge question is what medications do you pregnant women out there trust???
Avatar f tn I ate really small meals...
Avatar m tn I agree, get some Zofran/Ondansetron. It works wonders. This is why they give to cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery patients. It is in a class of medications called 5-HT3 receptor antagonists and works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance that may cause nausea and vomiting. I just got a bottle of 30 Ondansetron on Medicare for $5. There are also other similar meds you can take so you should find a solution and not have to deal with what you have been.
