Common Questions and Answers about Ondansetron feline

zofran

Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar f tn The cost of a feline leukemia and feline Aids test combination at my clinic is $30.00, but there are literally dozens of causes of feline weight loss that have nothing to do with feline Aids. Weight loss can be caused by congenital problems that may not appear until the cat is full grown, such as heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease and more. Almost any infectious disease can cause weight loss; even a urinary tract infection or upper respiratory infection.
Avatar n tn Toxoplasmosis, Cryptococcis, Bartonella, Feline infectious peritonitis, feline immunodeficiency, and feline leukemia virus often present as anterior and posterior uveitis, chronic uveitis, retinal detachment, and secondary glaucoma, which just means that systemic diseases can result in ocular disease such as sudden onset of blindness. Your cat did test neg for feline leuk. but your cat should be tested for these other common diseases.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
Avatar n tn We have some kittens about 6 weeks old and they have been acting lethargic and having green ***** eyes and diarrhea. One of our adult cats (not their mother) has symptoms of Feline Leukemia? and I am concerned about these kittens. Is there anything we can do for this? Is there any treatments available that is not real expensive that can be administered to them? Please advise. Thanks.
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Haven't done any research or asked a Vet. All I know is, that it is EFFECTIVE and long lasting. The chemical name(s):: 'ONDANSETRON ODT'...4mg or 'ZOFRAN ODT'....4mg (Mfg.
663774 tn?1297225152 I would also recommend that she be tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS. If she is negative, depending on her lifestyle (indoors only or outdoors, single cat vs multi cat household) you and your veterinarian could also consider the Feline Leukemia vaccine. After her boosters, she should be vaccinated per the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) protocols. That is rabies and distemper once every 3 years and feline leukemia vaccine based on her risk factors.

Avatar n tn Did you take her to the ophthalmologist today? Did your regular vet test your cat for feline leukemia and feline Aids? Unequal pupil size is called anisocoria. I answered a similar question in June, 2007 which I have copied below. Please let us know what the veterinary ophthalmologist finds! Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine lists 54 causes of feline anisocoria.

391201 tn?1201055111 I just got a kitten and some one said that it looked like it might have Feline Down's syndrome, she has more rounded pupils and over sized ears. She seems to act normal but was the smallest of the littter. If she does is there any concerns i should have for her future well being?
Avatar n tn Recently I trapped two strays that tested positive for feline leukemia and had to put them down. I am worried about this one have contracted it since I have two healthy indoor cats being kept separate from this stray. My questions are: is she likely to have the disease if she was vaccinated 2 years ago? Since my indoors are vaccinated, will they be less susceptible to this disease? If I get the stray to the doctor and she tests negative how long must i wait before exposing her to my other cats?
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water. I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!
