87972 tn?1322661239 “Medtronic, a Minneapolis-based drug device company, recently announced that it has started a clinical trial to evaluate a pump that delivers a continuous infusion of interferon alfa-2b (Intron A) for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection. The trial will test the same type of pump used for continuous insulin delivery for people with type 1 diabetes.
484033 tn?1208516117 FOLFOX is a chemotherapy regimen which includes a combination of intravenous Oxaliplatin, Leucovorin, and Fluorouracil given as a continuous infusion over 2 days (not 3). From my experience in using this regimen in colorectal cancer patients, it's remarkably well tolerated. The adverse effects are due to the Oxaliplatin and Fluorouracil (I have discussed this in an earlier post I sent you) but these are usually mild.
1201433 tn?1328997637 I take 8 mg every 8 hours, usually about an hour before I take my meds. You will need a prescription for it. With Zofran, do not wait until you get nauseated. Ondansetron works by blocking the 5HT3 receptors that are found in the brain and gut. This prevents the nausea messages being sent from these areas to the vomiting centre. Ondansetron therefore prevents nausea, retching and vomiting that can otherwise occur following surgery or due to cancer treatments. http://www.netdoctor.co.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is Zofran hun. Its just the generic name for zofran. Even though theres a lawsuit, id say its more of a money maker. I took it both pregnancies and my babies came out fine. Youve got to look at whether the benefits outweigh the risk with ANY medication. If youre miserable and need to eat for baby, take it. My advice is try to only take it when u really need it, not on a regular basis. Stop as soon as symptoms ease up. Lots of water too.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron is the generic for Zofran. Why would you refuse it? It's safe to take or your Dr wouldn't prescribe it to you. There's other meds out there if you don't want to take it. My Dr gave me Diclegis. It helped take the edge off the nausea.
Avatar f tn I never had hep A, but have considerable experience with nausea and vomiting, While on treatment for hep c these symptoms were almost continuous. Ondansetron 8mg ODT (orally disolving tablets) worked well and gaviscon, that I learned would stop my retching immediately. One morning I was standing at the counter trying to figure out how I was going to get down 20 grams of fat so I could take my pills and began to retch.
Avatar f tn t infusing properly, it would be noticeable within the transparent infusion drip line. And, the infusion nurse would have probably noticed it. Best wishes to you and take care!
Avatar n tn In July, my bloodwork was normal, but my iron serum and transferrin saturation was low (iron serum was 30 and saturation was 8%). Hemataologist did 4 weeks of IV infusion (Ferracet?) and bloodwork is now worse. Iron serum is now 27, saturation is 8%, TIBC is normal and ferretin jumped from 35 to 135. However, hemoglobin dropped from 12.5 to 11.7. Hematocrit dropped from 37.5 to 34.5. RBC are now 3.9 and low MCV. What does this mean? I am a 45 yo female.
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn They admitted me immediately and had the infusion started within a couple of hours. I had a continuous ketamine infusion run for the following 7 days, (the pain "broke" on day 4) then after 24 hours of observation I was released. Once again with this treatment I didn't experience much in the way of side effects except for feeling a little "high and happy" every now and then.
Avatar f tn Zofran/Ondansetron is also used in pregnancy. I felt safe using this during pregnancy as I have known more women who have used it without any problems. it's a newer drug and works very well without the sedating side effects that promethazine can have. Here is the FDA information too. Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy.
Avatar n tn So you see how important a CT scan is in helping sort this out. Even at the end of life vomiting continuous is just horrible and avoidable. Medications do not help much. this is a mechanical problem not a pharmacologic one. aids with octreotide to reduce small intestine secretions and antiemtetics such as ondansetron and compazine and prednisone may alleviate some suffering but not too much.
1164212 tn?1262913001 Today I had to have some type of IV infusion with steroid and depakote - it has been 7 hours since IV and still no relief. I take inderal daily as a preventative, migranal, midrin, lortab and phengran in that order as needed to maintain/relief migraine. This last migraine started 1/1/10 and is still here. I am a non smoker and non drinker - it is beginning to effect my job performance. I'm not sure what to do from here.
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar f tn I was put on 50 mg of zoloft a month ago and have had nausea ever since. It seems like it's been getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Yesterday I was prescribed Ondansetron ODT 4mg. It doesn't seem to help. Will the nausea go away?
1916673 tn?1420233270 Hi Tony, I personally used the following about a year ago, as prescribed by a Doctor. Found that it was RAPID and LONG LASTING and 100% effective. Avatar m tn By the third treatment the headache was almost gone, and by the sixth treatment it was completely gone. I felt well and experienced slow but continuous improvement over the next nine months, gradually regaining strength and energy. But about a month ago the same unmistakable headache returned, so I have begun a second UVBI series.

585414 tn?1288941302 A 2006 double-blind, randomized controlled trial indicated that ondansetron may have value in the treatment of schizophrenia, as an adjunct to haloperidol.

436191 tn?1256646306 We found no significant difference in outcome in patients who underwent HIDA scan with CCK infusion, regardless of gallbladder ejection fraction or exacerbation of symptoms caused by the infusion. Preoperative symptom complex was also not predictive of postoperative outcome. LC is an effective treatment for patients with acalculous gallbladder disease. A preoperative HIDA scan with CCK infusion does not accurately predict treatment success or failure.
