Avatar f tn t stop vomiting without it. I still have a day here and there but its a lot better than before. I hope it helps you and good luck with your pregnancy!
Avatar f tn Anything prescribed always comes with some sort of risk, if you are really worried about it you can try alternative methods like buy some ginger and chew on a piece or make it into tea, saltiness crackers, 7 up, there are a bunch of things just Google it and see what works for you
Avatar f tn There are some lawsuits related to it recently, but my doctor said he's never had a patient with an issue. He's still cautious not to use it though and gave me B6 instead. However, I have several family members who took it for the entire 2nd and 3rd trimester and had no problems. If you're getting dehydrated and can't get enough nutrition, your doctor may have judged that the benefits outweigh the risks for you.
Avatar f tn If Ondansetron is not helping there are other drugs like antacids and proton pump inhibitors that can give relief. You can ask your Doctor for a change of prescription. Also dietary modification like eating a bland non-spicy food, avoiding alcohol and smoking will help. The answer is based on information provided. Exact advice is not possible without a proper examination and investigations. You are requested to consult your Doctor. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn When you say connection - what do you mean. Can Naltrexone cause this disease or can it help it? Naltrexone wouldnt be used to treat it anyway - did you mean LDN - Low Dose Naltrexone? LDN is used to treat many autoimmune diseases. My husband has MS and takes LDN with great sucess. The original dose of the full dose start at 50mg whereas the low dose version is usually 4.5mg.
Avatar f tn Hi I´m Portuguese and yesterday I was gone to the Hospital because i used heroin and take naltrexone...I saw the dead. I was almost in another life....If you consume drugs don´t use naltroxone--Believe me...Never again Luck for all..
Avatar m tn And yes Nexium as Pepela suggested is also in the PPI class
Avatar f tn for a use other than the FDA approved disease). Because of the high cost of clinical trials and since Naltrexone is already FDA approved, there's little financial motivation to get further FDA approval for other disease conditions.
Avatar f tn My doctor gave me ondansetron, it saved my life lol! I'm 17 weeks pregnant and I still throw up on the daily but its not as bad as a few weeks ago. The ondansetron has a grape flavor but it does make me gag, what I do is place it under my tongue and then swish with a huge gulp of ice cold water. I noticed that my nausea was worse when I was super hungry but I would be so hungry that I couldn't keep anything down- frustrating!
Avatar f tn Ondansetron has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies failed to reveal evidence of fetal damage. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Case reports have described two women who have received ondansetron during pregnancy for life-threatening hyperemesis gravidarum. No abnormalities were noted in the offspring of these two women. Ondansetron is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Avatar f tn I have been prescribed that. I believe that and zofran are the two they give pregnant women. Its a lifesaver.
1201433 tn?1328997637 Ondansetron is also available without a brand name, ie as the generic medicine.) Ondansetron is used to prevent and treat nausea and vomiting that can be caused by chemotherapy or radiotherapy treatment for cancer, or by surgery. Vomiting is controlled by an area of the brain called the vomiting centre. The vomiting centre is responsible for causing feelings of sickness (nausea) and for the vomiting reflex.

Avatar f tn Im 36the weeks and 2 days pregnant. And all I ever want to do is sleep, no matter what I do I can't seam to get enough sleep. And everytime I get up I feel like im going to throw up. Why am I feeling like this?
Avatar m tn ***@**** Many clinicians appear to be concerned about the potential hepatotoxicity of the opiate antagonist naltrexone (NTX) and this may be one reason why it is not used more widely in treating both heroin and alcohol abusers. Some much-quoted early studies noted abnormalities in liver function tests (LFTs) in very obese patients taking high doses, although there was no evidence of clinically significant liver dysfunction.
Avatar f tn I have recently been feeling full of regret, very emotional and tearful, I have been informed this amy be due to the long term use of Naltrexone, and lack of natural endorphins , so i have been advised by my CDT Nurse to start thinking about coming off of them, is this right? Other wise, my life is so good compared to what it was, I am happy, but just feel like the past keeps wanting me to remember how bad things were... could my 'miracle' now be becoming my tormenter?
Avatar f tn I went to the er and got ondansetron (generic for zofran) but the doc prescribed it bc I literally kept nothing but one icee a day down. I got a script for 12 and thats it. All I know is they do not prescribe it to one indivodual in large quantities and that bc it can affect and stay in your blood for so long they have to monitor how much an individual gets.
Avatar n tn s why the implant is so good - it releases a constant stream of the medication and lasts for about 6 - 8 weeks. There are some new naltrexone implants on the market that supposedly last twice as long. Most detox docs recommend getting implants for at least a year so the addict has time to change behavior and since there is no reward if one relapses, the incentive to use is much less.
Avatar f tn This is my third day taking Naltrexone and this a.m. I took 1/2 tablet only because I woke up with a headache! and I never do that. I detoxed from opiates ( lortab ) in February and have been clean since then, the only thing that has really bothered me about staying clean has been the cravings along with very little energy. I have searched the web for anything to help with those symptoms and Naltrexone seemed to be worth a try.
Avatar n tn The medication called Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), which is usually made at compound pharmacies and not normally available at typical pharmacies is a major topic among those of us with Fibromyalgia, CFS, MS, Crohn's and other autoimmune illnesses. Though you still need a prescription for this medication, MANY doctors do not know what it is, or have any training on what it does or how to prescribe this medication.
7100466 tn?1392032316 Hi i had naltrexone implants inserted into my abdomen twice. They block heroin and opiates like valium etc. It definantly is a magic bullet. It blocks the receptors therefor you feel absolutely nothing when you take drugs. But i dont know about the naltrexone given intraveniously if thats what your after. Our doctor here in Perth ( george o'neil ) was the one who designed the naltrexone implants and it works 110 percent against opiates. Its bloody brilliant !!
Avatar m tn My significant other is an alcoholic and I am trying to help her find a way out. We wonder about the use of Naltrexone. Does it work? Are there doctors in Florida who will prescribe it?
