Some physicians have good results with a newer kind of antidepressant called an SNRI -- these are the medications Effexor, Cymbalta, and Savella. Since these are new, they cost more.
Another new medication that is similar to but better than gabapentin, called pregabalin (Lyrica) can be effective in treating neuropathic pain.
