s patients usually have low or no acid which makes me concerned about taking this. And I read about ensuring you space out when you take omeprazole. I also have low ferritin and was taking iron, which I saw online is contradicted.

At first my wife had urinary infection, few weeks later she started to have fever and stomach problems, the docter told her it was a gastroenteritis. I bought her omeprazole and gave her amoxicilline, that worked. She felt fine, but few weeks later she had urinary infection symptoms again. The doctor gave her antibiotics again, that helped her.
Following a valve replacement and triple bypass I was discharged from Hospital with a number of drugs and a new one being Omeprazole. I did not know why it was prescribed but after a number of months taking it I decided after discussion with my Doctor to stop taking it. A few months later through the night I got this terrible chest pain on a scale of 1-10 I guess it was 7-8.
I have GERD and a hiatal hernia and have been taking omeprazole twice a day every day for a few months (I had been on Prevacid for several years before the omeprazole but insurance won't cover it any more). If your main symptom is burping, I would try going off of the omeprazole and switching to gas-x or some other type of gas relief medicine. As long as you aren't having a lot of problems with heartburn or acid reflux, you would probably be fine to discontinue using the omeprazole.
Hi. I am taking omeprazole for laryngopharyngeal reflux for the past 2 days. I am supposed to take two pills daily, one before breakfast and one before dinner. Today, i started having this feeling that food is stuck in my chest and back of my throat but I don't have any problems swallowing. It is an uncomfortable feeling in my chest. I did not have this symptom prior to starting the drug. Is this a side effect of the drug?
Now due to the pregnancy, it seemed to worsen as I experience painful heartburns. My doctor recommends I take omeprazole along with antacids. I've been taking antacids because I know they don't bare side effects on pregnancy. I am not sure though with omeprazole. I'm scared. I am afraid it might harm the baby. Anyone here experienced the same?
t correct the underlying problem, but it can alleviate a good deal of the pain associated with ulcers by reducing the amount of stomach acid (the actual substance causing the pain). Omeprazole and other PPIs can and do give ulcer patients a better quality of life while they heal.
I get up and have 2 or 3 cups of tea with sugar, should wait a 1/2 after taking the medicine before drinking the tea?

I was taking Omeprazole for acid reflux. I was recently going on eight weeks of taking it. I too WAS suffering from dry mouth and tongue and a severe burning sensation in my throat that was getting worse. I feared the worst, waking up with severe dry mouth, panic attacks as to what was happening. I couldnt even make a drop of saliva. I stopped taking the omeprazole last night. For the first time in weeks i slept like a baby.

My 4 year old son has been prescribed 20mg omeprazole for unknown stomach pain. I heard that PPIs such as this can increase the risk of pneumonia and he has a horrible chest cold. cough right now, should I discontinue taking this medication until this passes? Are the chances of it turning into pneumonia greater if he is on omeprazole? Or is this risk factor only for prolong use?
5 months ago i started to had a digestive system problems symptoms like bloat and feeling of fullness they said to me i have a colon problem then i had gerd after that and feeling of heartburn i took ppi like omeprazole and when i stop it the gerd symptoms appear again and with all of these symptoms i feel numbness sometimes in my left head and my arms and legs come and goes and my breath is shorten without reason and globus sensation in my throat !

Pylori and chronic gastritis, and four months ago took antibiotics for 10 days, 9 weeks ago had unprotected anal and oral sex. 8 week after sex tested with 4 generation test and result negative.
I had a total thyroid removal in September 2011. It is April 2012 and I 'still' have numbness and tenderness on the right side of mny neck and chin. I went to an ENT specialist and all she seemed to be concerned about was the hoarseness of my voice....put a probe through my nose and said she saw acid on my vocal cords....?!?!??. i said I never have heartburn ... she put me on (Prevacid) Omeprazole DR (2 20mg 30 minutes before supper).
I am feeling very fatigued. I have had a feeling of flutters in my lower and upper abdomin. Nausea off and on but no vomiting. My throat feels scratchy like when catching a cold and I have a non-productive cough. I am really dizzy when sitting or standing after lying down. Breathing seems labored at times but not short of breath. I am taking omniprazole(sp). Should I be concerned about this? I had biopsy which was negative for malignacy but shows mild chronic esophagitis.
I have the same problem which I, too, thought might be caused by Omeprazole. I did find, like CalGal, a link between Omeprazole and a cough, and it was also causing itchy skin down my spine area. Changing my PPI to Lansoprazole recently has not made the slightest difference, and I continue to cough all day and all night, a dry, irritating cough.
I also have gastritis, oesophagitis, a Hiatus hernia, none of which had been symptomatic other than nausea, and a lack of desire to eat.
Had total thyroid removal in September 2011. Voice still gets hoarse when I talk alot. Also, right side of my neck and under chin feels numb and tender to the touch.
Been prescribed Omeprazole and now Protonix for "acid on vocal cord (box). Never had any acid reflux or heartburn. Have appointment for a "Swallowing Test" next month.
As for the neck/chin issue...docs don't seem to be concerned about it. Was told it won't go away.
recently ive been having more frequent heart flutters and skips with the sensation of passing out !! I have acid reflux bad I take omeprazole 40 mg I ran out of my meds and started taking over the counter omeprazole I had bad skips and sweats that caused me to go to the ER they did a stress on my heart said it was fine could there be a problem going on in my esophegous causing these heart symptoms? Help desperate for peace of mind!
For now, please take some antacid or OTC medications like omeprazole and ranitidine. The numbness and tingling can be due to parasthesia which can be due to anxiety and stress, vitamin B 12 deficiency, thyroid causes like hypothyroidism or diabetes.
Eat a diet rich in vitamin B 12 levels like non veg diet and take some B 12 supplements for some days.
The last time I had this problem I got some Omeprazole off my doctor. I finished those and the pains came back last week so I got some more on Tuesday.
Problem is that not it's a lot worse. I haven't ate or slept in 4 nights and I'm now starting to get constipated. Some thing I've never been before! I haven't been to school or the gum since last week because the pain is too debilitating!
I take omeprazole and it works wonderful!! and its generic so not that expensive at all. I used to take protonix and it worked just as well as the omeprazole.. good luck!
BUT I believe the drug has done its damage as my heart races at odd times , such as when i eat or do physical activities, this never happened pre-omeprazole, I also get startled easy, and always have like a dull ache in my chest and stomach, these symptoms happen on a daily basis.
Where do I go from here? what can I do to return my health to normal? Can I sue the company?
the type A migraines with all the neurological side effects. Now I am starting to experience numbness and tingling i my hands and feet and arms and legs. It happens every day at least 5-10 times aa day and may have nothing todo with my migraines, but it is very uncomfortable and frustrating. Just now, it happened in my right hand and when I tried to stretch my thumb out it wouldnt stretch... kind of hard to explain. It felt almost heavy like it was to heavy to lift.
