Ideally I would like to get it from food rather than have to purchase an expensive supplement that I don't feel 100% comfortable with.
Avatar n tn Lutein is also good supplement for eyes. Blueberries. Beta carotene and vitamin A. Cod liver oil (omega 3). Stay away from processed foods. Eat organic when possible.
Avatar n tn I eat alot of beans which is high in fiber and iron, lentils also high in fiber and iron, I did juices as well which is a great in between meal. Juices with kale, apples blackberries, pineapple, oranges, bananas, and other berries. Berries are great antioxidants they clean the system very well. My doctor told me not to eat tuna high in mercury and in protein both which is bad for pregnancy if consumed too much. So once a month I make 4 Oz of salmon with brown rice and raw green veggies.
Avatar f tn I take one to fight babybrain. Omegas are stripped from myelin shealths during pregnancy and since they act as lubricant in the conduction of, essentially thoughts, our thought process is slowed. I didn't ask my doc about it yet but it does clear up fog in my brain.

Avatar n tn collard greens, kale ( I recommend washing them then freezing) spinach, carrot, a piece of ginger root, whatever fruit you have on hand, I use frozen because its cheaper and more convenient. Then I put in a scoop of ground flax seed, full of omega 3 fatty acids which are awesome for your heart and ***** the fat out of your body. Then for liquid I use 100% juice and soy milk. Not that Silk crap. I mean good soy milk.

I take 1000mg omega 3, three times a day; a multiple vitamin that contains vitamin A 7500 iu, C 120mg and E 100 iu. I had my annual opthamologist exam about 4 months ago and all was well. Have the supplements lycopene, lutein and zeaxanthin, in safe doses, been shown to help prevent AMD? What is a safe dose? Anything else I should be doing?

The salad is simple, consisting of the chopped kale, seasoned pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, white and black sesame seeds, and a very tasty lemon-and-vinegar dressing -- obviously appallingly healthy. At only $2.50 a pint, I can eat a lot of it without breaking the bank, so I think I'll make it my go-to lunch.

Omegas 3 / 6 are polyunsaturated oils that help lower cholesterol and help prevent blood platelets from clotting blood vessel walls. The best source is fish especially mackerel, tuna, salmon, and lake trout. Fish should be eaten 2-3 times a week. Omega 3 are found in whole nuts, soy nuts / oil, and canola oil. Recommend 1-2 teaspoons of nuts daily. Hope this answered your question.
603543 tn?1255294450 kelliebellie just keep in mind that it may not work. I'm not trying to be a spoiler, but I did the Omega 3 thing for 6 months at high dosages. The Omega 3 suppliment I was using was top grade from a health store. It cost twice as much as other formulas because of it higher quality. 6 full months of this Omega 3 experiment produced absolutly no improvement in my Severe depression. Perhaps my condition is more severe than your and that's why I failed to respond to it.

A scoop of ground flax seed, full of Omega 3 fatty acids which are terrific for your heart and body. Omega 3 fatty acids suck the fat out of your body and help you poop it out.
Avatar m tn I think omega 3's helped me. It affects my asthma and makes it hard to breathe. I took them for 2 months, asthma was settling down and since they were expensive I stopped taking the omega 3 supplement. However, a week later I'm worse than ever and can't breathe. I bought some more so we will see. Omega 3's are anti-inflammatory so theortically they should help with mucsous since it is an inflammatory response.
