Common Questions and Answers about Ocella emergency contraception

Avatar n tn No. This will not work. You are outside the 72 window in which emergency contraception will work. Now you must wait to see if your period comes. If it is late, then take a test. If that is positive, you then can discuss termination either by the traditional procedure or by pills that a doctor prescribes. Or you may not be pregnant. But emergency contraception must be taken within 72 hours of intercourse.
Avatar n tn in the morning, i took emergency contraception (prostinor 2) last night, while having sex wiv him, the condom broke and he came in me...Do i need to take prostinor again or is the one i took yesterday ok?
Avatar m tn I think Plan B posts that there is a 1 in 8 chance of it not working. It's not meant to be used as birth control, it's meant to be used as emergency contraception. When you say "condoms aren't on the table," do you mean this has already happened and you had no condoms? If this hasn't happened yet, condoms are more reliable than Plan B, and a lot more healthy for you.
Avatar f tn Well Ocella is the generic for Yasmin. I was taking Yasmin for 2 years, when last month I was given Ocella. Well I wasn;t too thrilled with it, as I had cramps for 5 days plus I started my period 1 day late. They say generic is always the same, but for me I felt a difference. It could be from the pill. Your body needs to adjust being on it. Side affects should lessen by the third month.
Avatar m tn You're using regular birth control pills in a higher dose to replace an emergency contraception? Honestly that doesn't sound safe at all! Vomiting for 9 hours is a big red flag and I think you should see a dr, especially if you're still doing this. Definitely don't take any more pills because they could seriously harm your body.
Avatar f tn anyways, we went to cvs and bought Next Choice one pill emergency contraception an hour after sex. She used the EC around 8:45pm the same night, march 11. She told me that she was 2 weeks late on her Depo shot, which is why I recommended the EC an hour or little after sex. She also said she is usually on a 28 day cycle, rarely early, and always on time. So, what are the chances of her getting pregnant in the future? I have been worrying all day.
Avatar f tn You gave her plan B or emergency contraception? I pill, right? Well, if it was taken within 72 hours, she should be good. Lunch doesn't matter so much as getting it in before the 72 hour window is over. buy some condoms! Emergency contraception messes up a woman's period.
Avatar m tn Though my bleeding is not the kind of bleeding I usually get from my period. Is it also because of the emergency contraception?
Avatar m tn I was wondering if switching birth control pills could have helped maximize the anxiety. I switched from yaz to ocella and have only been on ocella for a few months and the anxiety started like a month ago.
Avatar n tn on a safer side i took emergency contraception...now after 5 days i am bleeding which is darker(brownish)in colour but it is going on since yesterday...m confused on everythng ...
Avatar f tn I used nordette BCP for emergency contraception. I took 12:30 this afternoon. I was supposed to take 4 pills but mistakenly took only 2 pills. What should i do? Should i retake the full doses again or should i just take 4 pills 12 hrs later?
Avatar f tn Not at all. Emergency contraception is just a higher dose found in birth control pills.
Avatar f tn sometimes contraceptive pills can cause bleeding. they say so right in the side effects as well as sometimes emergency contraception can change the length of a monthly menstrual cycle, making the next period come as much as a week earlier or a week later than usual. if her period was late than you should worry but any bleeding heavier than spotting is a sure sign that she is not pregnant.
Avatar n tn It happens because of the hormones in a pregnancy so for most women, it starts 6 to 7 weeks after conception, not when your period is due. You are likely late because you used emergency contraception/pills. Those are a huge dose of hormones which is how they work but also after that, the body deals with the hormones. They can make you irregular with your cycle for 2 to 3 months after taking them.
Avatar n tn I fooled around with a guy (no clothing, there was touching of gentalia) but no intercourse. I took emergency contraception three days later (first dose within the 72 hours), just in case. 1. I was on antibiotics (amoxicillan), would this alter the effectiveness of the emergency contraception? 2. Is there still a risk of pregnancy?
Avatar f tn I had unprotected sex on Monday December 09, and my boyfriend didn't pull out on time. At first I wasnt that panicked, until that Wednesday December 11. When I woke up in the morning I was discharging. So that afternoon I went to get emergency contraception.
Avatar f tn Sorry, my mistake! My fellow Community Leader reminds that the number of hours after sex for the most effective use of emergency contraception is 72 hours, not 48 hours. Here is the correct information: "If you feel you need to take emergency contraception, take it as soon as you can after the unprotected sex. It's most effective within 72 hours. It can be taken up to five days after intercourse, but by the third, fourth or fifth day the rate of effectiveness is reduced.
2061712 tn?1355244263 Precum rarely contains sperm and even when it does the sperm are often low in numbers and of bad quality, if you honestly had one sexual encounter without any contraception and it was for a minute without him cumming inside you, then the chances of pregnancy are low, but still possible, just very low.
Avatar f tn My healthy 20 yr. old daughter was taken Ocella Birth Control Pills for 2- 3 months when she began experiencing severe headaches. She would take Tylenol, and eventually the headache would go away. At the time we did not make the relation between headaches and birth control pills. One particular day she complained of a headache, pain in her right shoulder/arm, blurry vision in her right eye, and she couldn't remember certain things that normally she remembered.
Avatar f tn If you were my patient, I would advise you that new research seems to indicate that there may not be sperm in the pre-ejaculate. BUT there could be little harm in using emergency contraception if you are not using a regular method. Emergency contraception is available without a prescription at most pharmacies. It is probably overkill . . .but you would have more peace of mind. Good luck!
