Common Questions and Answers about Nuvaring side effects mood swings

nuvaring

17435300 tn?1456682805 The main site says that common side effects are mood swings, including depression. I do have a history of being emotionally unstable. However, I have lived a very positive and encouraging lifestyle over the last 4 or 5 years. I'm really hoping that this is all caused from the ring, that way it's as easy as removing it but I don't want to use this as an excuse. Has anyone noticed relief and happier thoughts after removing the ring???
Avatar f tn I've been on the Nuva Ring for a year and at first i didnt' get any side effects but maybe 3-4 months ago ive had terrible mood swings, i feel very depressed, mayor loss of hair, i also got a tingling on my right arm and currently experience leg pain..often get headaches, weight gain, breast enlargement, spotty darkening of my skin (face). I'm getting off the Nuva Ring this month. I don't recommend it!
Avatar f tn I've been looking into an IUD, never had the patch personally (was afraid it'd fall off or something) but I know I wouldn't recommend the implanon/nexplanon implant or Nuvaring, the implant causes crazy side effects and Nuvaring doesn't stay in for anything!
Avatar f tn But I wanted to see if all of these symptoms could even be caused by my birth control? I know mood swings and bloating are common. But the weight gain in my stomach and lower back pain were not expected. Should I be worried about something else such as IBS or other hormonal imbalances? I even took multiple pregnancy tests which were negative and I've been getting my period every month. But my body feels like it's tricking itself into feeling pregnant or something.
Avatar f tn In women with inherited defects of lipid metabolism, there have been reports of significant elevations of plasma triglycerides during estrogen therapy. This has led to pancreatitis in some cases. I stopped using the Nuvaring immediately. Never during that whole time I was in the hospital or months afterwards did any doctor link the pancreatitis to the NuvaRing. I remember having bleeding in the hospital a week early even though the ring was still in.
Avatar m tn During that time I had tons of mood swings, lack of energy and problems with my skin. I was an emotional wreck and gained 20 lbs with no changes to my diet. It caused issues in my marriage with my moodiness. I finally had it removed and I've been about a year Mirena free. I have lost 15 within the past few months without even trying. It takes a while for the added hormones to leave your body. The weight I added it mostly gone. I ended up going back to the size I wore prior to the IUD.
Avatar n tn Yep, welcome to Tamoxifen. Those are all glorious side effects. Suggestion...try changing when you take Tamoxifen (try a couple weeks in the morning, couple weeks in the evening...couple weeks midday), take it with food...and also make sure you drink plenty of water in the day. I take mine usually midday now and the hot flashes have calmed down along with the mood swings.
Avatar m tn The doctors here told me itd take a week for nuvaring to become fully effective. Do you know of anyone experiencing severe mood swings first time using Nuvaring as well??
Avatar f tn This is just one of the side effects and in no way should you construe that your anxiety is related to your contraceptive, especially since you have been using it so long. Side effects usually occur early in use. Actually, if you are suffering from what you describe as anxiety, in all probability, there is a separate cause.
929728 tn?1256162688 on 100 mg some cramps and crazy mood swings, the 150mg by far the worst horrible hot flashes, with my mood swings i get so angry, then i cry because i'm angry, bad bad cramps, oh yeah and when i go from a dark area to light i have wavy lines that follow everything i look at. i take it at night also, i would rather sleep off my hot flashes then be dripping at work. i think i just respond poorly to hormones, i had a lot of side effects when i was on bc 4 years ago.
Avatar n tn i don't know about the dreams, but mood swings and lack of concentration are most definitely side effects.
1401877 tn?1288107639 ve been taking it for almost a year I never had the spotting problems but the mood swings were horrible the first pack! My mood swings eased up during the second pack, but I can still be very emotional. I never was before but now its like my body is normal. Thats really the only side effect besides the headache and breast tenderness that I have had with seasonique.
Avatar n tn I just looked up Nuvaring and it looks like chest pain and numbness on one side of the body are side effects. http://www.medhelp.org/drugs/NuvaRing/show/3399 I don't know if you would typically experience these symptoms so quickly though.
618913 tn?1234747600 I havent had that many side-effects..ive had mood swings and pregnancy symptoms (nausea, cramping, and soooo tired) but nothing that i can't live with. i think i have put weight on but mostly thats me being lazy but i do think the implant holds your weight. I dont get periods with it...just a bit bleeding every now and then....and i really cant complain. as a student nurse its helped me as if i was on placement for a 12 hour shift with period pains.....well, no thank you!
Avatar f tn I agree with the last comment, but I would take a test just to confirm.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
3105573 tn?1355979465 I HATED the depo abnormal bleeding and weight gain r the most common side effects. Like tomorrow264 said some ppl actually have no periods at all while on depo but for those who get that random bleeding its sooo annoying..I took one shot and never ever ever again. Then I used nuvaring and loved it. So easy.
1107999 tn?1269718949 I still have problems with mood swings. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions about how to handle mood swings? Can they be tamed?
Avatar f tn Or is this watery red blood, nausea, diarrhea, and mood swings all signs of early pregnancy? I took a HPT around week 2, and it was negative. I'm hoping it is just my body getting used to the new level of hormones! But I have heard many stories of people getting pregnant while using Nuvaring. But since I've had varying degrees of bloody discharge since starting, I'm not sure how to tell if it's pregnancy or hormones. Anyone have a similar situation? And what was your outcome?
730826 tn?1317943334 Im not vomiting any more but still am nausious. Its been a month since then. Can the side effects last this long or is there another reason for the nausea?
527657 tn?1214051850 It feels good in a way i guess but in other ways now I HAVE to deal with real life, which gives me tons of anxiety. The antidepressants just were not worth it with all the side effects you know? I cry over the littlest things now. And I snap at my hubby alot, and hes not use to that, I was a so go with the flow person on the drugs. Oh well it is what it is and this too shall pass right?
147929 tn?1294851722 what do you think?? Progesterone side effects or could this be it? I was on progesterone w/DD but we got pg the first month trying (after 4 mc) so I don't have a reference point of progesterone w/o pregnancy.
Avatar n tn in only 6 weeks and I have mood swings like crazy?.. Is this normal because I feel like it's not?....
Avatar f tn Having terrible mood swings the last couple of days, assuming the Clomid? 2nd round CD 11. Anyone have issues with this? I took Clomid in the past but cannot remember. Hopefully this means things are working. I have the fear that this time no follies, had 2 last time with no success. Get checked in 2 days for this.
Avatar f tn I began Effexor and found it helped the depression but not the flashes. Now a year later, I have started having severe ups and downs and mood swings and the sweating still there among other things. I have been taking the B1 and E suggested. can not find the periden c. no help I finally am seeing an M.D. who is also a qualified homeopathist with a background in biochemistry and pharmaocology so she knows about drug interactions.
1615573 tn?1298536550 mood swings, weight gain, acne, headaches, light cramping from time to time, and lighter or eliminated periods. The side effects for me have been fairly mild--nothing I can't handle but they can be annoying, especially the mood swings.
