Avatar f tn Hi Frrecks, I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the insurance, since we still have private insurance. It has to be so difficult to set aside the financial worries and concentrate on feeling better. I do know a lot of the DMD companies have programs to assist anyone without insurance. As for my private insurance cost, my employer just finished the open enrollment for next year and here is what I will be paying for my health insurance - $238.00 a month for me and my spouse.
Avatar f tn I am five weeks and without health insurance. My husband and I will be moving to a different state in January. Should I pay by appointments or try to find a transferrable insurance to the next state? Also, this is my first and I don't even know where to begin as far as finding a doctor before the move...

Avatar n tn Like any health treatment, it can be quite costly without insurance. If you are in the states, I would recommend going to Planned Parenthood. They will charge you on a sliding scale fee or for free and make things very affordable.
Avatar f tn The total out-of-pocket wihout insurance would be $2400 a year. With insurance it would be $1900 a year. So now the total cost of medical care with United catastrophic insurance is $6300 and uninsured out-of-pocket cost is $3600. The costs of outpatient procedures and other things are generally comparable to that and I'm not going to bother doing the math on them as I'm not familiar with the costs there.
Avatar f tn I was interested in seeing how many of us have health insurance vs no health insurance.
Avatar n tn Is there any reason you don't want medicaid? Just wondering about that... I am self-employed and insurance is always a thorn in my side. I make too much for medicaid and too little for traditional maternity insurance. I found it cheaper to carry a insurance policy on myself and pay my maternity fees out of pocket. Ironically, I save money doing it this way. Most doctors and midwives will give you the option of a payment plan if you don't qualify for medicaid.
Avatar f tn can someone walk me through the process of getting health insurance? I don't currently have any, and I'm already seeing how expensive this pregnancy will be without it. I had my first visit yesterday and it's cost $240 out of pocket. I'm 18 on August 28th, any advice?
Avatar n tn They barely live paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford even the simplest coverage. I thought with the new health insurance reform that they would be able to get health insurance at a lower price but they can’t even afford that. So now, they can’t come up with the money for the insurance by the due date to get coverage. Why is the system still not working? I thought health insurance would be more affordable but for them, it’s not even possible.
Avatar n tn Right now people who are lucky to get their healthcare insurance paid for by their employers, can be easily thrown into the group of uninsured simply because their jobs have been cut and they are now without a job and without health insurance. They may be dealing with many health issues that are life threatening if left untreated. Some hospital ERs have refused uninsured patients, because it costs them too much money to treat these people.
1036535 tn?1278502599 Hi Red, Just in relation to your comment to pushingupdaises and waiting times, here in Aus I was told on a Wednesday to book an LP and the next available appointment was the following Monday, so 5-6 days. So no wait. (I didn't want it that fast as I was in shock and ended up booking one a month later). The cost was $480, with Medicare (our taxes) covering all but $80 of that. All I have to pay up-front is 'the gap", ie, that 80 bucks.
387294 tn?1207620185 My son and daughter may be looking for health insurance after they leave college and are no longer dependents. My daughter has been diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic heart valve. She has a healthy heart and it is working well. With this impact her chances to get health insurance on her own? Will it impact our ability to continue her insurance after the cobra period is over on our insurance?
Avatar f tn I am pregnant with my first child and I had the same question about how much it would cost. I have insurance but mines was able to give me an estimate of how much a vaginal birth and c - section would cost out of pocket. Vaginal birth was about $5,000-$6,000 and C - section was about $8,000-$9,000. I am assuming this varies depending on labor. Hope this helps some.
748907 tn?1233163781 But you will still need tests (different blood test, biopsy) and doctors visits so anyone with HCV needs health insurance in the USA. Period. At least until our current health system is overhauled. But don't hold your breath waiting because too many people are making a lot of money with the current system. HCV over time causes liver disease if you are infected and your body couldn't kill the virus itself. That is what you want to avoid. Without a liver you can live. Bones hurting?
629668 tn?1222914854 it depends on what plan your company purchased of that health insurance.. without any assistance our IVF is going to be $8k, and if we have to do ICSI add on another $1500.(with meds and everything).. some places do this thing called shared risk.. it typically includes three IVF and its something like they help you pay for most of it if it doesn't work and if it does work then you pay them back or something like that? GOOD LUCK!
Avatar f tn Hey guys....my birthday is on the 10th of this month and I will be 21. So next year I will be 22 and I'm still in college and of course I'm diabetic. My parents insurance over cover me until I'm 22. What's a good insurance for diabetics and how much will it cost because I can't go not being uninsured. I can barely keep up with what my insulin and strips cost now WITH insurance.
4806014 tn?1424501878 Starting January 1, 2014, health insurance plans can't refuse to cover you or charge you more just because you have a pre-existing health condition due to the passage of the The Affordable Care Act in 2010, otherwise known as Obama care. This is something we patient advocates have all fought for. Kaiser has a contract with UC and here at UCSF we perform Kaiser patients liver transplants on a routine basis.
968076 tn?1248272910 htm#cirrhosis%20signs This link is specific to Cirrhosis, but the site has tons of good information about Hep C. I think a teaching hospital will treat you without insurance. I have a friend who is co-infected with HIV and HCV, and while I think he has insurance, he has to go to a teaching hospital to get treatment. I'm sure some others will chime in with more on Cirrhosis, and options for getting treatment. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I have great health insurance but I just needed to hear what other people have had to pay even with insurance coverage. I am looking at the pros and cons of both treatments and honestly have to pay $25/month for my nuva ring for who knows how many years isnt trumping surgery right now. So any past experience or knowledge would help!
Avatar f tn In Canada without insurance it costed me $25, however I'm not sure how much is covered by the public health care or if it falls under prescriptions and private insurance. In pets the cost is $500-1500 depending on the length of testing so I would assume it should be somewhere around that.
Avatar f tn No way! Call the mass health office. All pregnant women in ma without insurance are covered automatically, no questions. I had my insurance approved hours after I found out I was expecting. Just keep calling!
Avatar f tn Like someone else said , the ONLY way to know how your insurance works and what is covered is to call your insurance and ask about your specific policy. I worked for a major health insurance company for years and the biggest mistake you can make is not calling them in advance. I also recommend finding out what options you have for permanent coverage for your baby.
Avatar m tn willing: "marcia: yeah, you and Trish may laugh and think this is all pretty weird but you have no idea all the fun you're missing out on! Arguing with dr's assistants about who bills whom, with hospitals about what's been paid, with the insurance companies about what's covered, with your employer about which insurance company to switch to (not to mention arguing with everyone else about how to stop arguing about this).
