nitrostat sl

Hi there, Non-urgent question - sent to my cardiologist but he's out of town for a few days. I'm on Isosorbide mononitrate ( generic Imdur ) 30mg once a day, and I have an active scrip for Nitrostat as well, to treat my angina. If ever needed, can a Nitrostat SL be taken when I'm already on Isosorbide Mononitrate without harmful effect?

Just introducing myself, SL made me join up here, my arm still hurts from her twisting it! Only kidding. . I have MS and was dx'd in about 5 years ago. I'm here to meet all of you nice folks! I was dx w/CHF in 2014. I've had 3 heart attacks & my ef was about 15 about 6 months ago. I don't take any cardiac med w/the exception nitrostat when needed bcuz I also have ALS. The 2 illnesses r completely unrelated according to the Drs I saw at Mayo, Hopkins & NIH.But for that reason I dont take any medications for the heart failure.as of lately during my last echo I was told that I now also have Afib.

Slight blood variances for albumin (slighty high), creatine (sl hg), alk phosphatase (sl lw), low testosterone (sl lw), b12 (sl lw). Other test in these groups were normal. None of them were significantly out of range. I am currently recoverying for the thoracic surgery on T7-8 that was done at Cleveland Clinic. My other neurologist still think something else is wrong. Hmm...as someone who did her postdoc work in Immunology and Allergy, hives are considered a Major allergic reaction. Your doc needs to know ASAP. Other causes of hives are many, but an infection is most common, at least in kids (especially strep throat, vaginal yeast infection, sinus infection, some viral infections - esp. Hepatits) But, the proplem with hives is, if they signal an allergic reaction to the drug, the next time they might not be just hives.

Well yes they explain to me that I do have Heart failure but not active right now it was a couple of weeks ago when I had water on me and he increase my Lasix. I do have the Dypnea everyday and the chest pain which I'm on imdur and Nitrostat. Well I'm going to get the hang of it one day @ a time.

My question is, recently I have been getting angina below my left rib cage & pretty severe dizzy spells that stop my train of thought(nothing else has changed except I have been getting pain behind my left shoulder.
