My blood pressure does not drop between intervals...in fact I was told to have intervals of nitrate free period. It is true, nitro dilates the coronary vessels and prevents angina (chest pain). The patch should only be worn for up to 12 to 14 hours a day, or as directed by your doctor, but continued use with no interruptions can cause a tolerance for drug....
One study found that taking 2 grams three times daily of vitamin C can decrease this effect when nitroglycerin patches are simultaneously used.2 Similar benefits have been confirmed in another study.3 However, it should be noted that it is also possible to avoid tolerance to these drugs by simply changing the dosing schedule. I have been experiencing left sided chest pains and left arm pain for several months now...I would describe the pain to be mostly pressure/tightnes in nature, sometimes it could be sharp in nature, the pain shoots down my left arm. The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal.
Another tough call. I currently play games on a PSP, PS2, Xbox, and the computer. I wouldn't give any one of 'em up either.

I was being treated for pneumonia with 10 days of levaquin and lodrain 24 D. On the fifth day I started having moderate and continual pain between my sholder blades in the upper back and heartburn (no heartburn for 25 years previously) and extreme fatigue. I thought it was the pneumonia and didn't go to the doctor for five days. My blood test then showed troponin was high, doctor said I may have had a heart attack. Doctor wanted a stress test ... which showed normal.
I have occasion severe pain in the upper back behind heart region. Have had stent in major heart artery. Nitroglycerine immediately stops pain...not similar to pain before stent inserted. Former pain was in chest, jaw, and arm. Is this heart related or spine ? Usually occurs at night, wakes me up. Very infrequent.
The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin.
Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes?

The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains.
I've never heard of nitroglycerin being used to treat migraine, but glad that it worked.
But if it keeps on, and sorry to tell you this, but you probably should see a doctor ASAP. It could be the sign of a coming stroke, since it is sudden and very painful. I started with a sudden very different migraine than any I had ever had before. It turned out that within 3 weeks, longer than usual as a gap in time, I had a full carotid artery dissection stroke.
I was in the ER yesterday with chest pain and shortness of breath. I do have benign PVCs. However I am unsure if my EKG was fully normal or not although I am pretty sure it was but what has me questioning it is the fact that I was given 4 aspirin and 2 nitroglycerin pills.

I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
1280 in the anti-centromere pattern (centromere 5.5). I can't get back into the rheumy until July. I had elevated ana in the centromere pattern 2 years ago as well. I don't understand why they didn't diagnose me then. I didn't realize CREST is rare! That makes sense why there seems to be so little about it on the net.

You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart.

The patient was brought in and catheterized by myself to exclude any possibility that his shortness of breath may have any cardiac component to it. He had grade I LV function with a normal RCA, LAD, and circumflex. A full hemodynamic assessment was made and his cardiac output was 6.8 liters per minute. His PA pressure is normal at 28/15 as was the RV pressure normal at 29/14. His pulmonary wedge pressure is a bit high at a mean pressure of 21, his RA mean pressure is also high at 17.
I am 28 yrs old -small mitral valve prolapse and w/ 5yr history of cold hands and feet(entire hands and feets-not localized to certain fingers) and premature CAD in both parents sides of family( moms mom died at 38). As of January 08 I began having episodes of numbness and throbbing in arms and legs and feet. I was on Adallat C for 4 months with fairly good relief and at the end of 4 months and was then put on Norvasc.
If it ONLY has #3 on one side and nothing on the other, white and round, according to drugs.com, it is Nitroglycerin .3mg - however, it would be best to double check with your pharmacist - they'd be able to tell you for sure what it is.
