how old are you? what is your weight? how healthful is your diet? do you exercise regularly?
You may be able to strengthen your heart by following a more healthful regimen. It can't hurt to take a hard look at your lifestyle and see where improvements are called for.

Stopping Nitroglycerin Patch suddenly may cause serious, possibly life-threatening, WITHDRAWAL symptoms, including chest pain and heart attack. Having a nitrate-free period each day will help prevent tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal problems.
I attempted to explain to you, on another identical post as well, isosorbide is generic for sorbitrate and is taken to PREVENT angina due to ischemia. If you want medication handy in the event you are experiencing angina, nitro is fast acting and within seconds or so there is relief. Doesn't make sense to keep sorbitrate handy as there is not immediate relief.
The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. I had this problem, but the vasospasm was caused by a cath procedure. The Cardiologist put me onto calcium channel blockers which stopped the spasms and after a few weeks he took me off the medication. I've been fine since then. They had to do this because I can't tolerate nitrates.
My 54 year old "healthy" husband received a stent yesterday due to a 99% LAD blockage! He is the typical type A personality and this only adds to his already stress overload. I realize we are lucky he is still here and thankful for medical technology. I am just concerned that this will forever be a constant worry for him. Any suggestions of how I can help him. Also I asked his MD about having nitroglycerin to have on hand and he said that this wasn't necessary???
The sublingual nitroglycerin seems to work to relieve the pain/pressure when it occurs but I am still conerned over the shortness of breath and fatigue along with a low temperature..95 and widely varying resting heart rate... 46 to 78 and widely variable resting blood pressure 148/98 to 102/70 thirty minutes later. What further testing, if any, would you suggest?
Tolerance occurs when a medicine loses its effectiveness and may not seem to work as well. A doctor may prescribe a daily schedule of using nitroglycerin 12 to 18 hours on and 6 to 12 hours off to prevent the development of tolerance.
I've never heard of nitroglycerin being used to treat migraine, but glad that it worked.
But if it keeps on, and sorry to tell you this, but you probably should see a doctor ASAP. It could be the sign of a coming stroke, since it is sudden and very painful. I started with a sudden very different migraine than any I had ever had before. It turned out that within 3 weeks, longer than usual as a gap in time, I had a full carotid artery dissection stroke.

I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
