I woke up this morning and now my bp is 185/110. Can withdrawal of the nitro patch cause high blood pressure, even though I've only been taking it for three days now?
I still had stable angina every time I did some for of cardio activity or is I ate something with sodium. I started using Nitroglycerin patches and even have the pills just in case my angina episode occurs.
I had a date and I read online that you can't take viagra and any nitrates cause it can drop your blood pressure really low. So I stopped using my nitroglycerin for about 48 hours so I can take the Viagra.
Female age 50 ... I was being treated for pneumonia with 10 days of levaquin and lodrain 24 D. On the fifth day I started having moderate and continual pain between my sholder blades in the upper back and heartburn (no heartburn for 25 years previously) and extreme fatigue. I thought it was the pneumonia and didn't go to the doctor for five days. My blood test then showed troponin was high, doctor said I may have had a heart attack. Doctor wanted a stress test ... which showed normal.

Do not suddenly stop taking Nitroglycerin Patch without your doctor's approval.
His PA pressure is normal at 28/15 as was the RV pressure normal at 29/14. His pulmonary wedge pressure is a bit high at a mean pressure of 21, his RA mean pressure is also high at 17. He also had full oximetry assessment to rule out intracardiac shunting. There is no evidence of any intracardiac shunting seen. The patient appears to have purely interstitial lung disease causing shortness of breath on exertion. There is no cardiac component seen.
Can high pulse rate cause a stroke or heart attack. My pulse rate is running between 106-128. When this happens I feel extremly irratated and little things get to me.
I only take isosorbide prior to a workout, and nitro when engaged in an activity that brings on angina. I understand your doctors are suggesting taking isosorbide daily as aschemia does not always produce angina even though the heart cells are not getting sufficient blood supply. This can lead to a silent heart attack so the medication is recommended continuously whether there is angina or not and older people in general are likely to have a silent heart attack.
The pain lasts anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. I have been prescribed nitroglycerin to take as needed for chest pain and this medicine surely helps. I've had several EKGs and cardiac enzymes done which were all normal. I also had a threadmill/stress test done which was normal. My cardiologist thinks the the probability of me having an occluded/blocked coronary artery is very low.
These were specifically for the cold hands and feet, not for high blood pressure, as mine has always been low (90/60). The Norvasc was tried for 30 days with no improvement. Nerve conduction studies ruled out nerve damage so arteriorgram of upper extremities was recommended. My results per radiologist was "Severe Vasospasms" When they injected the dye into the artery they could not see anything. However, when nitroglycerin was administered everything showed up...no blockage.
As anyone had the stress test the two parts myacardial perfusion scan after 4 weeks the cardiologist sent a prescription for asprin , isosirbide monitrate, amlodipine antrovastatin said my scan was 15% what does this mean is this not too bad medium or high risk don’t see him for another 2 months sldo can I have a few drinks on them as Iv not had a drink I just wondered people on these meds if they have a few drinks now n again thank you in advance x
I've never heard of nitroglycerin being used to treat migraine, but glad that it worked.
But if it keeps on, and sorry to tell you this, but you probably should see a doctor ASAP. It could be the sign of a coming stroke, since it is sudden and very painful. I started with a sudden very different migraine than any I had ever had before. It turned out that within 3 weeks, longer than usual as a gap in time, I had a full carotid artery dissection stroke.
The same with his recent heart catherization was chest pressure. In the ER he was given 2 nitroglycerin, 5 minutes apart, the chest pressure went away after the 2nd nitroglycerin.
Does any good specialist in cardiology think that my husband should have the open heart surgery for bypasses considering the risks regarding his age, his diabetes?
I would appreciate very explanatory answers, easy to understand, what to do in my husband's situation.

The goal of treatment is to control chest pain and to prevent heart attack. The pain is relieved by a medicine called nitroglycerin (dilates coronary vessels). You have been prescribed norvasc and that should relieve any chest pains.
When should a person go to the ER for high blood pressure. I've been having a pounding head ache, face has been flushed, etc for over three days. I used to have to take high blood pressure medicine but I was running, loosing weight and my need for the medication was done. I've recently gained weight and haven't run in about 3 months. My cardiologist has me taking 75 mg, of Lopressor, 360 mg, of verapamil, .4 mg nitroglycerin patch. And now he wants to add 10 mg of Ramapril ( Altace ) a day, my recent cardiosrams have have shown sinus bradycardia. That's before starting the Ramapril , I'm just very leary about starting the Ramapril in first of all the highest dose there is, and second of all it could further lower my heart rate and send my heart in to an AV Block that could lead to many things not good !
My 54 year old "healthy" husband received a stent yesterday due to a 99% LAD blockage! He is the typical type A personality and this only adds to his already stress overload. I realize we are lucky he is still here and thankful for medical technology. I am just concerned that this will forever be a constant worry for him. Any suggestions of how I can help him. Also I asked his MD about having nitroglycerin to have on hand and he said that this wasn't necessary???
I'm a Raynaud's Phenomen patients who has the CREST syndrome and i use the nitroglycerin patches to control my raynaud's. Can you tell me if the patches used in this way would cause your acid reflux to be worse. When i took the lowest dose of nitroglycerin patches 0.1 didn't notice any but had to move up and now i do. Will this be something that my body may take an adjustment period for before i notice a different of not having symptoms again?
You should talk to your doctor as you may be a good candidate for a low dose nitroglycerin patch which opens the coronary vessels to increase oxygen supply to the heart.
How are you currently managing your COPD? What medications and inhalers are you using? are you on home O2?
The doctors just did an ECG and say all is good. Is this possible? She is on constant Nitroglycerin and Morphine prn. Should she get a second opinion? What other procedures could she have done to take away this pain? She says the pain is getting more frequent and stronger. Thank you for your responses.
For 3 months now I have been dealing with extreme high blood pressure. Avg. 220/123, accompanied by chest pain in my upper left size of my chest. This pain does not move. I have been put in the hospital 3 times within these 3 months. I get stress tests, ultrasounds, X-rays and blood work. All tests says I am not having a heart attack, but with my blood pressure being high it is making my left side of my heart to struggle and causing my heart walls to thicken..
