macrobid

Avatar m tn Oxytoca) is isolated in the urine. It is a urinary tract infection. It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues.
Avatar m tn A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing on average one urinary tract infection per month for the past two years. After seeing many doctors and being prescribed different antibiotics, I saw a urologist and had some tests done. My ultra sound was normal, as well as the urinalysis (taken when no symptoms of a uti were present). I then started taking Nitrofurantoin Macrocrystal (a daily antibiotic or taken after sex, also called Macrodantin). The UTIs went away during this time.
Avatar f tn Talk to your doctor about this immediately. My understanding is Macrobid has been known to cause problems when taken during late pregnancy: "If you get recurrent urinary tract infections or if the infection gets into your kidneys, your caregiver may recommend taking nitrofurantoin (trade name Macrodantin or Macrobid) for the rest of your pregnancy to prevent another infection.
Avatar n tn Take all of your antibiotics & drink LOTS of water. Some people will say cranberry juice, my my urologists says that plain water is always the best. And any time you have to urinate, go! This will help flush the bacteria out of your bladder. The best way to prevent bladder infections is to drink lots of water, NEVER hold your pee for a long amount of time, & always wipe from front to back.
Avatar f tn Well, I'm in my first trimester and I have a urinary track infection, and a doctor at a hospital prescribed me Nitrofurantoin 100 mg , 4 times a day, of course the side effects are worse in me, I guess because of my pregnancy, but I need to know if it's really safe for my baby, I'm not having any problems in my pregnancy, and I don't have any spotting, thanks God. But I had a miscarriage before and I'm very concerned about any pills doctors make me take.

Avatar f tn m a 26-year-old female. I was diagnosed in May with an ESBL E.coli urinary tract infection, after going to the GP complaining of flank pain and typical UTI symptoms. I was given several different antibiotics over the next month or so, all of which did nothing, until I was placed on a two-week course of Nitrofurantoin, which cleared the infection. It did also, however, leave me with nerve damage.
Avatar f tn Please help me. No one seems to be able to give me othre options. About 6 months ago I got my first UTI ever. Since then I have had reoccurances and nothing seems to be the matter. They do urine cultures and tell me their fine....but yet there are always traces of nitrates and mostly white blood cells when we do my urine specimen. I've seen a urologist and have had urodynamics done and a cat scan. No one can tell me why I keep on getting them.
Avatar n tn I am a 18 year female, and ive been suffereing from a "unrinary tract infection" since november 2008! I have been on 2 courses of trimethoprim since and this has not stoped my pain. I was then sent to a consultant who sent me for a kidney scan and a bladder examination; after these tests I found out that I have "calcification of the kidney". So I was put on Nitrofurantoin for a month but still no real change.
Avatar f tn In children without urinary tract infections 17.2-18.5% have VUR, whereas in those with urinary tract infections the incidence may be as high as 70% Age Younger children are more prone to VUR because of the relative shortness of the submucosal ureters. This susceptibility decreases with age as the length of the ureters increases as the children grow. In children under the age of 1 year with a urinary tract infection, 70% will have VUR. This number decreases to 15% by the age of 12.

Avatar f tn My gyne suggested that I have a UTI. I had no symptoms thereof. I was put on nitrofurantoin for 7days. I finished the course and now 3 days after I finished the antibiotics I tested my urine and the leukocytes/white blood cells are still very high. What other infections/circumstances can cause this? I am very concerned as I only can reach my Dr. on Monday.
Avatar m tn 9 days ago Nitrofurantoin (200g a day for 5 days) was taken and daily birth control (Qlaira). Both are known to decrease levels of haptoglobin but nothing about complete depletion. Could this be an extended effect from Nitrofurantoin? When should the test be repeated ?
