I have been prescribed nitrofurantoin (macrobid) for a UTI. I have a hard time swallowing pills. Can these be broken up?
I've had bv multiple times and I've had it with this pregnacy as well as my first you will be perfectly okay to wait until you get paid.. I would definitely wait to treat it until you have them confirm thats what it is.. only causes concern when left untreated for long periods of time:) for now I'd try to use unscented soaps and only wash with water... seems off since bv causes a smell but I was told and have found that soap can cause your ph levels to go wacky and that can cause bv.
Thinking it might be a UTI I went to the DR, I was prescribed Ciproflaxacin, no real change after 7 days, then Nitrofurantoin. It felt like symptoms subsided the week after but came back again.
I’ve been using clotrimazole cream to help with irritation, but doesn’t seem to do much.
I have developed tiny irregular pimples around the glans. The DR was not concerned about these.
Now, 7 weeks later, my penis tip still feels a bit irritated and glans a bit red.

Follicular cystitis (cystitis follicularis) is a non-cancerous lesion which results from chronic bacterial infection. It is nothing but chronic cystitis characterized by small nodules due to lymphocytic infiltration.
Treatment options for this are limited and may overlap with those for interstitial cystitis. Pentosan polysulfate sodium and dimethyl sulfoxide are approved for the treatment of chronic cystitis and may be of benefit some patients.
My gyne suggested that I have a UTI. I had no symptoms thereof. I was put on nitrofurantoin for 7days. I finished the course and now 3 days after I finished the antibiotics I tested my urine and the leukocytes/white blood cells are still very high.
What other infections/circumstances can cause this? I am very concerned as I only can reach my Dr. on Monday.
Diagnosed with uti 9/17 treated with nitrofurantoin. After one week symptoms persisted so was given ciprofloxacin. After one week symptoms persisted again so another culture was done and diagnosed with staph infection. Treated with amoxicillin but after one week symptoms still persist. Another culture done and came back contaminated was treated with metronidazole. Now done with prescription and systems still persist. Going to call doctor to see if another analysis/culture.
m seeing obviously wants to rule out sti but with symptoms clearing up would it be normal of a sti to do this and what are the possible causes of my current and reduced symptoms. I have have treatment of nitrofurantoin for 1 week after my initial appointment but no more treatment since while they try figure out what's wrong. Anyone ever experienced this before and can shed any light that will help put my mind at peace while I wait for all these tests to be completed?
They precscribed me nitrofurantoin and I’ve been taking it for about 5 days now and my symptoms are pretty much gone, though I’ve been told to keep taking the pills for the whole 7 days. However, the first time I took it the day I got them they made my stomach hurt a lot, but I assumed that was due to the fact that I hadn’t eaten all day, and so every other time I’ve taken it I’ve eaten something with it and I’ve felt fine. After that, maybe the 3rd day, I started to get diarrhea.
It also says that the colony count of the bacteris is 1,00,000 cfu/ml. Hence, doctor prescribed some medicines like Uribid with nitrofurantoin in it, Prothiaden M, Montemac FX for allergy and Hifenac-P for fever and also Cital syrup for UTI. My mother continued the course for one week, now fever and tiredness have decreased, but the burning sensation continues. Is this mixture of tablets fine, or any other suggestion or recommendations for treating this urinary tract infection of K.Oxytoca.
9 days ago Nitrofurantoin (200g a day for 5 days) was taken and daily birth control (Qlaira). Both are known to decrease levels of haptoglobin but nothing about complete depletion.
Could this be an extended effect from Nitrofurantoin? When should the test be repeated ?
A couple of weeks later I developed a urinary tract infection. Urologist prescribed nitrofurantoin for the infection. Immediatedly after starting the antibiotic my ears gradually starting feeling clogged. Now, two weeks later, they are both very clogged (no wax buildup) and I can barely hear. Logic tells me the ear clogging is somehow connected to the nitrofurantoin. Has anyone ever experienced this or heard of this happening? Will this clogging go away by itself?
I have recently been feeling unwell and have recurring UTI’s and been on Nitrofurantoin. I also take levothyroxine for an under active thyroid.
I recently had a LFT and my ALT was 934. My GGT was 140 and bilirubin 37.

I have been taking ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for a month now. but still the is no change. I still have some pains. I was diagnosed with an UTI, in the urine and blood test the was no Chlamydia, gonorrhea or syphilis in short no STI. But and the doctor, prescribed ciprobid, doxyl and nitrofurantoin for me and my wife. I have visited the doctor 3times and the last tested I did.
(My weight is about 145 kg, previously has been 188 kg, with a length of 170cm) It started in 2006, I did get nitrofurantoin, but I got only more ill, till I even got over 41 degree fever and an emergency-doctor then prescribed ciprofloxacin which did help (this was in Holland). Since 2008 we are in UK and I have been under treatment at St George, London, till 2010.
3) Nitrofurantoin (the generic name) is not usually active against gonorrhea or chlamydia. Still, it might interfere with testing. Probably best to wait until you have been off the drug for a couple of weeks.
4) The obvious explanation usually is the right one. I'm sure doctor would agree with my comments above.
Returning to your recurrent UTI: After repeated treatments, it is common for the bacteria causing UTI to become resistant.
I am a 18 year female, and ive been suffereing from a "unrinary tract infection" since november 2008! I have been on 2 courses of trimethoprim since and this has not stoped my pain. I was then sent to a consultant who sent me for a kidney scan and a bladder examination; after these tests I found out that I have "calcification of the kidney". So I was put on Nitrofurantoin for a month but still no real change.
t even phone your doctor for advice (which would be kind of a surprise -- almost all doctors have night coverage and weekend coverage let alone someone during the business day to answer questions from patients) by all means see a pharmacist. I would tend to begin taking it correctly now that you know, but your doc might want to extend the dose to cover the full amount of days with the full dose.
5 I booked appointment to my GP this afternoon she tested my urine I have infection little blood in urine she gave me Nitrofurantoin 50mg antibiotics for 7 days, when I walk I feel flow in my vagina I check at home its mix brownish with yellow? I never had this before in my past 2 surgeries I hope this is not serious.

I took nitrofurantoin for a UTI infection and finished my course on Tuesday morning. Yesterday (Friday), I noticed what appears to be hives (small raised bumps with no redness, they didn’t itch) on my legs. I counted 13 - primarily on my thighs and shins. They appear to be gone today, but after I took my puppy for a walk this morning, I noticed small red bumps on my feet and they itched. Is this an allergic reaction to the antibiotics?
Take all of your antibiotics & drink LOTS of water. Some people will say cranberry juice, my my urologists says that plain water is always the best. And any time you have to urinate, go! This will help flush the bacteria out of your bladder. The best way to prevent bladder infections is to drink lots of water, NEVER hold your pee for a long amount of time, & always wipe from front to back.
