Serious consequences (complications) from diabetes don't occur in 24 hours, they occur over time spent at high numbers.

Niacin in most people causes the face to flush/blush. No flush Niacin is readily available OTC. A word of caution, however, Niacin is a B3 and B3's are known to elevate blood sugars. Test your bs often and on a regular basis.

My little guy who is a superslim biracial child (white/African-American) has developed a dark patch of skin on the front of his neck. It looks a bit scaley in appearrance. It does not hurt or itch he says. In trying to find some info on what it might be, I ran across Acanthosis Nigricans, but it says it mostly occurs in overweight and obese children. Is this something I should be concerned about? I'm a little worried about the risk for type 2 diabetes if that is what this indicates.

I am not a physician, but a mom of a type one and the daughter of a type 2. In a type one diabetic commonly called Juvenile diabetes( because it usually is diagnoses in children , but I know people that were in they 30's and 40's and were diagnosed) is when the body stop s producing insulin. Type 2 diabetics your body still produces insulin, but cannot use it properly use the insulin without help of medication.

I have been Type 2 Diabetic for 19 months now and I am on a few Medications such as..Humalog 50-25 units 3 times per day and Byetta 10 unitis 2 times per day and Metformin 2 times per day and Atrovastatin once per day..when I was diagnosed I weighed 120kg now I weigh 154kg, I have been in Terrible pain over the past year..my right and left foot and toes are constently paining and my lower back and hips are always painful also my left elbow joint and my fingers are starting to pain..

I'm confused. I have seen several postings with two digit type numbers that are not A1Cs, but self-test numbers. What is this "looks like a pen diagnostic machine" ? Is it something different that a regular glucose meter?

I have type 2. Im 17 weeks and my blood sugars suddenly drop or shoot up really quick for no reason. Its weird. Ive been sticking to the 60 carbs per meal 15 per snack and doing pretty good.

i was talking to a friend regarding her diabetes type two, and she said she found out she had this by using a glucose monitor a few times a day for a week, reported her readings to her doctor and they did tests and diagnosed her. she said that her glucose levels were super high, so i decided to buy one just to try and see. i check myself three times a day - and the readings are normally around 80-90 every time, and sometimes that is about 30-60 minutes after eating. should i be concerned?

I have type 2 diabetes and I had it even before pregnancy.Till my 3rd trimester I was on medicine-metformin and diet. From third trimester it is just going up.So along with metformin I am on two types of insulin every day.But as of now my baby is doing fine.I am 34 W 6 days.

a 68 year old person with type 2 diabetes has pneumonia. she is lethargic with a headache. blood pressure 104/72. heart rate 118/min. respirations 30/min. flushed and feels warm and dry. urine output is over 800ml in the morning. glucose is 310 mg/dl. what is happening with this woman??

I had type 2 diabetes before I got pregnant. I'm 8 weeks and I inject insulin twice a day. They said if I don't control my levels my baby will be too overweight . any suggestions besides eating right and exercising? Is anyone else experiencing this?
