Avatar f tn They are sometimes stiff upon waking up in the morning, and as I keep using them, the pain and sensations get better. The pain is usually worst about 1-2 weeks before my period. In addition, I constantly have heachaches and pain going down my right side (from my waist through my hips and down the leg). Thank you for any advice/suggestions.
Avatar n tn We have been on simvastatin for (wife for 1+ years, me for 2+ years) and stopped about 5-6 months ago - wife still having pains in the butt some dizziness and leg pain, but getting better - I am having butt pain and leg pains, swollen left knee, (but joint pain seems OK on stairs), recovery seems slower than my wife's. But both of us have just been diagnosed with right enlarged renal cysts which were not there before taking simvastatin.
Avatar f tn if you can try the slo release formula and make sure you take with food.. I use and research a lot of alternate treatments.. Niacin has the propensity to flare up causing those exacerbated feelings also your scalp may feel like its on fire too.. You should be ok and if it doesn't go away seek medical treatment ..
Avatar f tn But my best lipid results ( raising HDL, lowering LDL and Lp(a) ) came from taking RX Niacin which I take with the 10 mg Crestor and 325 mg aspirin at bedtime. No problems with Niacin either.I take RX fish oil also as I am in big time prevention mode due to cardiac microvascular dysfunction.Fortunately my lipids have never been bad and my larger coronaries are clear but the lipids are only a piece of the total cardiac picture and the possible side effects of meds far outweigh my other risks.
Avatar m tn Sounds like a nerve problem and not a DVT. (PE= is in the lungs; not the legs) Possibly a sciatia nerve problem. If it were a clot you wouldn't be able to run and would possibly be having problems walking. I would recommend consulting a Neurologist for testing and/or imaging.
802198 tn?1237831666 It, the burning, has moved up my leg and is now most sensitive around my inner knee area and is also radiating up into my gluts and hip region. I get this from time to time. Not sure if it is stress-related but it sure hurts. I do nothing for it because I really don't know what it is. Episodes last from 1-10 days or so and eventually it diminishes.
Avatar f tn Recently, I stopped taking all statin medications due to severe muscle pain and weakness getting worse. I am concerned about my cholesterol levels and triglycerides. I am on a strict diet, but high cholesterol and triglycerides are genetic. Is it safe for me to take Centrum Cardio Vitamins (with plant phytols) to help lower my cholesterol? Also, does buffered niacin (or non-flushing niacin) work equally as well as regular niacin in helping to lower cholesterol?
Avatar f tn Posture like crossing of knees or ankles, sitting with your legs folded or one foot under your buttocks may cause pins and needles in leg and feet. Standing up for work, imbalance of calcium, potassium, sodium, peripheral artery disease, damage to spinal cord, diabetes can all cause this paresthesia. Vitamin B1,B6, B12 deficiency, hypothyroidism need to be checked.Consult a physician who would evaluate these symptoms and ask for relevant investigations. Hope this helps. Take care.
Avatar n tn My husband had bypass surgery (quadruple) about 5 years ago and has had leg pain every single day. Doctors kept telling him it would go away -- first they told him to wait a month, then two months....two years. He said he has seen a vein/artery specialist (from same hospital) but they don't know for sure what it is. They suggested surgery to maybe open it up more. He is not very open to any more surgery and does not want to have to go through any more surgery.
Avatar m tn You need a color dopplar view of both legs for a definitive diagnosis. 1000 mg of omega-3 oils and slow-release niacin will be helpful. Frequent exercise helps, as well as a quinine sulfate pill. Unfortunatey the FDA banned sale of quinine sulfate (sold fror 100 years over-the-counter), but it is still available in some health food stores.
Avatar m tn When the injury is the result of switching from the crystalline to the sustained release form, the injury may present acutely within days or a few weeks with a prodromal period of nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, that is followed by jaundice and pruritus. Early during the injury serum aminotransferase levels are very high and then usually fall rapidly with discontinuation or dose lowering. The clinical phenotype resembles acute hepatic necrosis, suggesting a direct toxic effect.

479244 tn?1271563659 (uh oh) Anyway, I checked and found that someone with liver disease (I have mild inflamation and no fibrosis) should not take over 35 mgs. of niacin per day. This stuff I bought at the drug store has 25 mgs. of niacin. Is is all they had , but I am thinking about returning it. IYO - is it safe for me to take this or should I return and look for plain ol B12 liquid.
475570 tn?1280941363 I just want to add that this was a study of Niaspan - the time release version of Niacin - and not Niacin.
Avatar n tn After 7 years of therapy taking Crestor and Tricor (fenofibrate), I, too, started experiencing intense pain in my legs, feet, back, and arms. My Dr. took me off Crestor last month but the pain returned within a few days, although not as intense as it was prior to my stopping Crestor. I took myself off fenofibrate just a couple of days ago and "Wow" what a difference! I can actually sleep at night and notice that the pain is dissipating more and more each day.
Avatar m tn There is also niacin (look for non flush niacin) and L-carnitine. And of course look at your diet. You can check out what to eat and avoid on this article from Authority Nutrition: A Paleo Diet Meal Plan and Menu That Can Save Your Life. After a bad diet, hypothyroidism is the second most common cause of elevated cholesterol. Genetics is under 1% of cases. It's worth trying out some natural methods first. Statins have a list of side effects a mile long. *** "...
Avatar n tn OR something you are doing in your life. An example. My husband had numbness, tingling and pain down his arm. It was terrible and ongoing so he went to a neurologist. What ended up being the cause was that it was summer, our lawn mower was the kind where it is supposed to be propelled forward which broke so he was pushing it but the vibration and jarring caused a nerve to get pinched. Once a week for 3 hours (how long it takes to mow our big yard), he was subjecting it to this trigger.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with tachycardia 5 years ago but here recently I have been having chest pain when sitting and paps that last longer. One episode with paps was so bad that I had to struggle to catch my breath. Is this just part of it?
