479244 tn?1271563659 (uh oh) Anyway, I checked and found that someone with liver disease (I have mild inflamation and no fibrosis) should not take over 35 mgs. of niacin per day. This stuff I bought at the drug store has 25 mgs. of niacin. Is is all they had , but I am thinking about returning it. IYO - is it safe for me to take this or should I return and look for plain ol B12 liquid.
1063764 tn?1272821064 t shows they are quite different in action. Niacin is mostly for cholesterol and the heart and blood pressure, while folic acid is essential to proper nervous system functioning, and is in a balance with B6 and B12, which are especially important for mood regulation, to control homocysteine which in overabundance causes inflammation in the blood vessels.
Avatar f tn Many diabetic clinics provide such testing for free. You might try some alpha-lipoic acid, 1000 mg of omega-3 fish oil, and some slow release niacin. The niacin improves the microcirculation, as does the omega-3 fish oil. If you are paying cash and specify you only want an hba1c and a fasting glucose test it shouldn't be very expensive. To evaluate the thyroid a test known as a TSH is required. This is also inexpensive.
Avatar f tn t get my script filled a couple times because I had so much left over. And then Autumn hit, and with it the blues, and with the depression came the anxiety and panic attacks. I was seriously considering talking to my doctor about restarting the Klonapin, just for the darker months. But that was not what I wanted, as I did not want to be dependent on it once again. So upon doing some research on natural remedies I found a LOT of information on the vitamin B6.
Avatar n tn I am bipolar and have taken niacin for years....I took 500mg of niacin the reagular kind not the no flush kind It did cause me to have a niacin flush (which is typical)...it has never caused me trouble with mainia only made me flush wich eased anxiety and caused me to be tired afterwards...It might affect others diffently though. Nician is a B vitamin and B vitmins can cause you to more energetic you shouldn't take them in excess esp if you have bipolar....
Avatar m tn Hello, Dark circles under the eyes can be hereditary and thus if it runs in the family, very little can be done. Vitamin B6 (Niacin) & folic acid deficiency can also lead to this problem and thus can be taken. Some allergens can also give rise to the same and thus need to be avoided. Lack of adequate sleep can also result in dark circles and thus advised to take adequate sleep. Apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily.
Avatar f tn But she really want to continue to take the Lipo-Flavonoid (which contains Vitamin B1, B2, B6,B12, C, niacin, pantothenic acid, and calcium) because she said that it helps with her tinnitus. She also wants to take the Bilberry vitamin with lutein for her eyes. What is the best thing for her to do? Thanks in advance.

1381186 tn?1280202029 As for the Bs, the most important for mood are B6 and B12, with folate another player and thiamine and niacinamide and niacin being involved as well with some of the symptoms. The best complex would be what's called a stress B -- it's a B complex focusing on the Bs most involved in the nervous system plus Vitamin C. Some stress Bs also contain relaxant herbs and some also contain adrenal regulating herbs.
458072 tn?1291415186 I wouldn't personally take it if I had adrenal problems. It contains caffeine, for one thing. It contains a byproduct of glucose metabolism, meaning it's fitting into the sugar metabolism. It contains phenalynine, which is very useful for depression but which can cause anxiety in those prone to that -- it can be speedy, too, which is great if you're depressed, but not so good if your adrenals are stressed.
Avatar n tn Vitamin B6 recommended dose for Adult male is 1.3mg a day (upper limit 100mg), and Niacin 16 mg a day (upper limit 35mg). You stated that you were having muscle problems, are you eating enough potassium foods (oranges, orange juice, potatoes, bananas, etc)? Suggest you see your MD if the muscle issues continue. The best source for all vitamins and minerals are our foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the best sources.
12802766 tn?1427764870 the vitamin that I was originally writing about was vitamin b6. I have been drinking tons of water and doing Epsom salt bath night. I still have pins and needles but it has lessed, I still feel a stocking glove, and my foot is still affected.
Avatar f tn You asked about hot flashes and B6 toxicity. All I can tell you is I started having hot flashes and B6 symptoms the very same month I went into menopause. It was like my body chemistry changed and I could no longer metabolize the B6. My hot flashes have subsided now with the help of taking herbs prescribed by a dr of oriental medicine and accupuncture. Like you I tried conventional methods to reduce my hot flashed but nothing helped until I found a licensed dr of oriental medicine.
Avatar n tn The medical profession [if they really do want smokers to quit] might want to consider giving smokers what they actually crave in a prescription of B complex vitamins [B3, B6 and B12] The strategy could do more to get smokers to quit than the billions wasted to date, teaching the rest of us to hate them.

Avatar m tn Kidney disorders, Liver disease, blood disease, hormone imbalance, growths pressing on nerves, vitamin E, b1, b6, b12 and niacin deficiencies, alcoholism, carpal tunnel, ulnar/peroneal/radial nerve palsy, arm position putting pressure on nerves in neck/spine. If it is in the neck, great, but I think it's best to check for other more serious issues first because the sooner they are addressed the better.
8976007 tn?1413330650 B6 tends to be a problem with supplement users and people who take meal replacements and shakes and protein bars because for some reason many many supplements add B6. Solaray is notorious for putting B6 in almost everything, for example, as if they assume everyone needs to take it if it's a co-factor for absorption -- I guess they assume nobody's eating well. So what I would say is, first, see to your diet -- try to eat real food, not fast processed food, as much as possible.
