I take 40 mg of Nexium and my Gerd has been mostly under control until a month ago. I woke up with a burning throat and it hasn't stopped. I tried taking double the Nexium, (80mg), but that made me nervous and nauseated. Now I bought some Pepcid. Is that safe to take with Nexium 40mg?

I have since stopped drinking coffee and eating chips and feel allot better, is there anything else I could be doing and any other medications that are better than Nexium- i really feel Nexium is doing nothing for me.

I am on plavix also and was taking nexium for gerd. My cardiologist told me to go off the nexium because the FDA has found that the nexium or any of the PPI's inhibits the plavix from working properly. I am now on pepcid instead of nexium. I am curious to find out if your cardio's had mentioned this to you. Protonix is in the same group of PPI's as nexium. Google plavix and ppi's or go on the FDA website. have been diagnosed with long standing GERD and a recent endoscopy showed the early stages of Barrett's Esophagus. I am currently on Nexium 40mg and was told I'll have to take medication "for the rest of my life". I'm 51 years old and in otherwise good health. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Yes, Nexium is completely safe to take with hepatitis C.

Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.

my insurence does not pay for brand Nexium. Only brand Nexium works. The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.

LOL! Don't worry, I put in what my due date would be if I was preggers on one website. Everyone there knows I haven't gotten my BFP yet, but I just wanted to input my data! *SIGH* I did this last time I thought I was preggo and I took it off after AF arrived.

I am having trouble swallowing, it does not matter if its food or liquid and it is random, I have very bad acid reflux and have been taking 40 mgs of Nexium daily for over 6 years. This started about 8 months ago and has been getting more ferquent. The problem is inbetween the bump in the middle of my neck and the base of my neck, when I swollow its as if the food or liquid has just stopped and it hurts so bad, i just wait for it to pass.

What about the bone loss and the liver damage that can come with using Nexium. That is information that you can get off any medical website. I am at an age where that is a major concern for me. I doubt that "NEXIUM" has anything to do with your sisters knee pain. You can refer to the package insert if you look up the medication..

I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.

There is nothing in the manufacturer's literature regarding bone loss with Nexium. If the Nexium is diminishing your calcium supply then you may need to increase your calcium intake.
