Nexium vs kapidex

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium vs kapidex

nexium

Avatar m tn Also, I recently heard about Kapidex. Is this significantly better than the others out there (including the Nexium I am on) or should I stick with the Nexium?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was also diagnosed with the same thing and my Dr gave me Kapidex which is similar to Nexium. After 2 days on the pill, I starting having side effects of diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting for almost 3 days. They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with gerd and a hiata hernia i am a black female 5ft2 and 233 pounds i have been on five different prescriptions currently i am on 60 mg of kapidex i have been losing weight and losing my appetite sometimes the kapidex gives me relief sometimes it doesn't what can i do for relief when it doesn't work? and how far can acid reflux travel.
Avatar n tn I had exactly the same problem last year around nov. It took me 7 months to figure out that not only I am suffering from GERD but I also have Celiac disease (allergic to gluten) . Once I started the wheat free diet and changed nexium to KAPIDEX my symptoms started to minimize until they don't bother me anymore. Then I stopped the med thinking I didn't need it anymore, BIG mistake, this is forever. good luck!!!
Avatar n tn I have tried prevacid, nexium, and kapidex. I still have the constant burning in chest and lump in throat feeling?
1005642 tn?1286907158 But, I was on Nexium for 8 months and just got switched to Kapidex. I was starting to have significant s/e from the Nexium that seemed totally unrelated to taking a darn stomach pill. Could be the Nexium. Could be anything. Could be nothing but more than a heart hiccup. If you've been checked out thoroughly, try to relax. I know how hard that is because sometimes I don't take my own advice. I've decided PVC's aren't going to rule me anymore.
Avatar n tn t allow Nexium to be sold/patented because it was so similar to Prilosec. Prilosec = Omeprazole vs Nexium = Esomeprazole, just go with Omeprazole and pay the generic copay.
Avatar n tn I was recently diagnosed with acid reflux, after an endoscopy that showed some gastritis and inflammation in my esophagus and a clean ultrasound. I've tried different medicines and the only one I've found so far that lets me live relatively pain-free is Kapidex. I took a free trial of it for 10 days, during which time I helped, but then went back off of it for a week (trying a different, cheaper medicine) before going back on it.
Avatar n tn There is no 'safer.' It depends on which one works better for you. They don't all work by a completely similar mode of action. So you'll have to try to find the one that works and gives you the fewer side-effects.
60505 tn?1313946644 3 months ago I got a cbc and esr which both were fine So I have been to my gp twice in the last month,he put me on Kapidex and switched to Nexium and I have gotten no relief from either. Last week he ordered a ultra sound and a blood test for H pylori which both were fine. Is it possible to get stomach cancer without having h pylori? If this was gastritis wouldn't these med have worked?
Avatar f tn Last week during the night I awoke and it felt as is my stomach, esophagus and throat were on fire. I went to my Dr. who prescribed Nexium for what she thought was GERD. She also drew some labs. I have taken the Nexium since Sat which has helped a little along with diet modification. Today they called and my lipase was elevated at only 70. She said I should have a Gall Bladder UltraSound done and if that is normal then to procede with a HydaScan.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm a 19 year old female, 5 foot 11 inches, 140 pounds. I am in general good, healthy shape, except for these plaguing stomach aches that have been occuring for years now. The pain is generally on each side of my lower abdomen (more left side than right). Accompanying it is a gnawing stomach pain that generally creates a lot of belching and nausea. Also, I'll have episodes of diarrhea for days.
Avatar f tn I had yet a different dr and he said it was Gerd and gave me a prescription of kapidex (which is like nexium). I just started taking this med for about a week. The burning went away but I still get that dull stabbing pain in my left ribs and my chest will hurt sometimes randomly. One day I was laying on my stomach with a heating pad (which can calm the pain some) I felt the spot in my left ribs bubble and I let out a really huge belch!
Avatar m tn What is the difference between Esophageal spasms and Erosive esophagitis and what are the appropriate medications for each? Is Nexium or Librax the preferred medication for one but not the other? After having two stents in a right artery almost three years ago, recently suffering from a burning chest pain that increased with exertion and a cardiac catheterization that indicated no progression of the heart disease, I was diagnosed to be suffering from esophageal spasms and was prescribed Nexium.
Avatar m tn I had a complete abdominal ultrasound which was completely normal, (unable to view pancreas due to bowel gas). My doctor started me on kapidex which caused the symptoms to get worse. Dr says it's GERD, but it just constantly aches in the upper quadrants both of them. I am concearned about possible pancreatitis. Can Gerd Mimic pancreatitis? I don't drink alcohol, non smoker, 5 foot 9 inches , 212 pounds, bp normal. everything is normal except this pain.
Avatar f tn I have a 36 yr. old handicapped son. Four years ago, he had a ruptured appendix. Was in the hospital for 5 wks. - finally got better - took about a year to gain his weight back. A year ago he was diagnosed with GERD. He's been on Nexium and recently, 3-4 months Kapidex. For a while, he didn't complain about pain. Three weeks ago he started to complain again, but now the pain is a little lower.
Avatar n tn The pain returned that evening though. I went back to my GP and they suggested trying PPIs for GERD. So I began taking Kapidex 60mg, which seemed to help a bit, but the pain continued for 2 months. I returned again, and then an endoscopy was suggested. I followed through and took one, which resulted in no significant findings besides a very small hiatal hernia. Then an ultrasound was recommended, which also returned nothing, so I stopped taking Kapidex.
Avatar f tn Went to the doctor after this happened in January and he said it sounded like a hiatal hernia and acid reflux based on the symptoms. I took Prilosec for 2 weeks and then Nexium for the next month. All my problems seemed much worse while on the PPIs. So I finished the meds about 2 weeks after I decided to try drinking again. If it was an acid reflux issue causing the pain then why would it not have healed while I was on the meds?
Avatar f tn Went to my Dr and she said it was Gastritis and put me on Kapidex 2x a day for 3 days and then once a day thereafter. The next day my lower back has starting hurting. I went in on Tuesday for pain in the back and she prescribed naxoprene and a muscle relaxer. The pain went away once from the pain medicine and now does nothing. I've been having bouts of diarrhea and then constipation also. Today my back pain is excrutiating and the past two days my stools have been dark brown/black.
Avatar f tn I'm a 42 year old female. Fairly healthy. I've been diagnosed with GERD since 2002. I had it under control with low-dose PPI's, diet changes and lifestyle changes until 2006. For the next couple years, I was diligent about my diet, lifestyle changes and taking my prescriptions which included taking high-dose PPI's twice a day (Prevacid Solutabs, Nexium, Protonix, Prevacid, Zegrid, Kapidex, Aciphex, etc....) and supplemented with Gaviscon or Zantac.
709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.
Avatar m tn Been taking Zantac effervescent regularly and have tried every other drug known to man but the doctor suggested we try 20mg Nexium a day to see if that helps. It has, but after 10 days now I seem to be getting worse again. Also started taking Gaviscon (again) before meals. The question is how long do we take the Nexium? permenently, or stop when I feel better? the doctor was vague abd said the usual; come back in 2 weeks and let me know how you are. Anybody have any side affects?
Avatar n tn I'd ask your dr and discuss rebound effects, too. If you don't do it cautiously enough, you run the risk of it being worse. Is there OTC for Nexium? I'd lower the RX dose if ok with your Dr and then wean down from there vs switching meds IMHO.
666921 tn?1254990618 I do know that the LLMD prescribed me Kapidex and it may one of the reasons I am not having heartburn. Usually these medicines give me bad gastric problems, but so far it's been not great, but not painful either. You may want to ask if you can get Kapidex.
