Nexium use in infants

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium use in infants

nexium

Avatar m tn The question is how long do we take the Nexium? permenently, or stop when I feel better? the doctor was vague abd said the usual; come back in 2 weeks and let me know how you are. Anybody have any side affects? It might be co-incidence but since I started on the nexium I have been going to the toilet 3 to 4 times a day (number 2's) where usually it's once or maybe twice depending on what I eat. As usual, all opinions will be most appreciated.
Avatar n tn Nexium is safe to use long-term.....I have used it on and off for about 10 years now. I am going through menopause myself. You also should include life style changes if not being done already.
Avatar n tn Without Nexium my ulcerated esophagus would never have healed. In fact, I was taking 2 40 mg doses per day and Nexium is not ordinary omniprazole it is a derivitized/substitutes omniprazole and it does function differently. Nexium does spend a lot of money advertizing it as an "alternative." Then they back it up by giving you a card on their site and regardless of insurance coverage, if you use the card, no matter how much the doctor prescribes you, your cost is $18.
Avatar f tn Yes, Nexium is completely safe to take with hepatitis C.
Avatar f tn I am.trying to.wean myself.off nexium after 10 yrs, as I feel food has been.fermenting in my stomach, symptoms r.reflux hrs after eating bringing up.food, smelly wind, sore bowels, itchy nd burning bottom. Iv put lots.of weight on and have bone and joint pain 24-7. I feel original symptoms were due to emotional problems and depression not being treated, my doc is not interested in.helping cus of budget cuts, I'm.
Avatar m tn I have read that Nexium or PPIs in general should NEVER be given to a patient IF Stomach cancer is SUSPECTED. An Upper Endoscopy SHOULD have been done a while back so that you know EXACTLY what you are dealing with. Periodically, a CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) plus Mg and B12 levels should be drawn as PPIs such as Nexium can alter these levels. As Selma mentioned, you should be doing lifestyle changes as well, i.e.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have lived for several yaers now with GERD, I use Nexium 40mg 2 or 3 times a week, it helps me a lot but I often have a pain in beetween my shoulders after meals epecially fried meals. Could this be the same heartburn I feel in my chest after a meal? It always comes from 1 to 2 hours after a meal. it seams to me that Nexium don`t have any affect on this symptom.
Avatar f tn The dr yesterday put me on nexium for 5 days then will start 30 mg of prevacid which has not helped in the past. I really appreciate any suggestions as I really do not care to have a 4th stay in the hospital this year. Thanks...
Avatar n tn Is it possible to have a reverse reaction to Nexium / omeprazole? It never really made the symptoms of my recently diagnosed hiatal hernia caused reflux (lump in throat, mostly) go away. It seemed to help for 2 weeks, but after 1 month it seemed to aggravate GERD symptoms. I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy.
Avatar f tn You should let your doctor know, just in case there are any complications the doctor will know how to handle it.
Avatar m tn Uniform Medical is not going to cover any PPI's in 2012. They stated that this is because they have a policy that any drug that has an equivilent OTC will not be covered. Can you believe it! I need to some good references and examples of medical appeal letters. I had a Nissin back in 2004 for hiatal hernia and have taken 2 40mg Nexium a day since. I have a slight scarred esophagus and only occasional breakthrough at night.
Avatar f tn I have to use heat packs to help with the severe pain I get and I pass blood in my stool. I had none of this until I was put on Nexium for 4 years!! And my tongue is discolored and dry I do believe nexium caused all my medical problems. Since I stopped the nexium my tongue does look a little better. Still dry and rough looking and discolored but looks better then it did. I called the FDA and they are sending me out a form called med allert to fill out.
Avatar f tn Check the side affects of the Nexium - look too for affects for long term use. I don''t recall the details but recall some concerns about Nexium or maybe just acid reflux medications in general. My problem is nasal congestion, not post drip, so I can't directly relate to your symptoms. I can say I have used the netti pot nasal rinse, and it takes some getting used to, especially if one has any fear of drowning/water.
Avatar m tn I started taking nexium back in January of 2016 and I noticed especially in April nothing. Since I seen your post is am stopping my use of Nexium. Thank you for posting this now at least I have an idea what is causing my problems.
Avatar m tn Based on the following posts, appears to be ok. Do a search on Nexium in "Search this Community" to read further. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Nexium-/show/1257410?controller=posts&action=show&id=# http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Taking-Nexium-While-on-Tx/show/1370635?controller=posts&action=show&id=# http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Hepatitis-C/Is-Nexium-ok-to-use-if-you-have-Hepatitis-C-/show/1350358?
1507909 tn?1313633804 Motrin contains ibuprofen, which can cause reyes syndrome in infants. My daughters pediatrician told me to use infants tylenol our an off brand containing acetaminophen. I would discontinue the motrin and get some infants acetaminophen.
Avatar f tn Nexium is safe to use with interferon and ribavirin and will not interfere with the efficacy of antiviral therapy.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
