Antireflux surgery should be considered after medications have failed. That is, failing once DAILY high dose PPI or twice DAILY PPI (like nexium). This does not sound to be the case. However, some patients elect to have surgery to eliminate need for medications. This surgery, however, does not guarantee cure. There is a fair amount of patients who still need medications after the surgery and a significant amount that require a second operation, if this first surgery fails.
ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :(
Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.

Yes , your symptoms are that of GERD.If you dont find relief with once daily dose of PPI, take twice daily dose.Follow lifestyle changes that your doctor advised.
Zantac is taken at bedtime for better relief only if you develop nighttime symptoms that wake you up in spite of taking Nexium.
Take sucralfate along with Nexium for faster healing of the raw spot in the esophagus.

For about 5 months, I've dealt with difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, and chest pain. It was not until two months ago that I diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis and possible GERD. Despite the diagnosis, my endoscopy did not show enough eosinophils per high power field for a diagnosis off the biopsy.
Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.
I have been prescribed Nexium by my doctor for the past 9 months and it is wonderful in preventing heartburn but after a while I started noticing that my stomach was slower as it would take up to 12 hours to empty my stomach. I recently changed to Prevacid as it recently came out as an OTC and it is my 10th day on it and already feeling the difference.
I have reflux disease. I use Nexium twice daily which is a proton inhibitor. I would suggest an endoscopy to see if you have any pre-cancerous cells growing. which thrive on the stomach lining growing in the throat.I have the procedure done for 15 years. If cought in time one can have a Halo procedure that scrapes the precancerous- lining in the throat. You need to catch it before stage 1, otherwise the cure is tenous at best.
I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.
Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium.

I have really bad acid reflux. Tums only worked for me maybe 30 mins then I'll have to take more. I've tried Zantanx and it's wouldn't last either. Told my doctor she put me on me on Nexium and thank the lord lol haven't had any issues!
I was very recently prescribed Wellbutrin XL, after trying several medications that have not helped [including Wellbutrin SR]. When I saw my doctor, she simply said 'I'm putting you on Wellbutrin twice daily' and I assumed it would be the SR. But what I was given was XL, with the instructions to take it twice a day [morning and around noon]. My doctor's office is closed today, or I would have asked her. I did ask the pharmacist, and he said that yes, this is okay.
5MG once-twice daily, with a qty of 20! that is no way to taper some one off this medication, right? I talked to my aunt who is a doctor (she will not prescribe any narcotics through out our family because of DEA ref's etc) and she told me to go to a new doctor because stopping this drug is way to risky especially for someone my age (18). I have been taking Nexium daily for about 4 months since it is the only one that gives me a little relief, but over all I constantly feel sick. I am having trouble swallowing, it does not matter if its food or liquid and it is random, I have very bad acid reflux and have been taking 40 mgs of Nexium daily for over 6 years. I am a 28 year old female. slightly overweight (15 lbs). The only medication I am on is an oral contraceptive. For the past 5 months I have experienced a daily side pain in my upper right abdomen below my rib cage. No other symptoms - no nausea, fever, irregular bowel movement, loss of appetite- nothing. Just the side pain. It doesn't seem to be associated with what I eat. It occurs as either 1. a sharp burning pain several times in a row and multiple times throughout the day or 2.
i have tried everything my dr has suggested and everything ive read nothing is working... like for example sitting up higher when sleeping eating smaller meals nothing an hr before bed. Nexium doesn't work my dr has me taking pepcid in the morning and at night with tums. Milk doesn't help water all day long ... The list is really endless... It's really horrible this pregnancy is the worse by far.
