After about 3 months, was having bad low back pain and pain on the top of both thighs. I then had a left rib fracture of unknown cause. At that time, no side effects like this were published. I did find a small group with similar symptoms but my Doc said it was not the Nexium. I stopped it and within 4 days, the flank and thigh pain were gone. I was later put on Omeprazole, 40 mg 2x a day fir the past few months. Not sure yet, but my low back muscles are killing me.
My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse.
I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me. I'm just wondering what else I can do to alleviate my water brash symptoms. It has been on-going for more than three months. I can pretty eat anything I want(coffee, wine and pizza etc,etc) and my symptoms do not get better or worse after I eat.
I've been dealing with gerd issues for the last half year. Colonoscopy and endoscopy were negative. I did do a series of rolling barium stomach xray which did show my stomach was on a roller coaster ride. I've been on most of the meds for gerd, from Zantac to Nexium to Lansoprazole to Pantoprazole. In December I started to develope numbness in my left foot and right hand. (Last night I noticed my left anke was swollen.
It mostly works for my GERD - without it it is unbearable. The problem I have is the terrible side effects. They are all gastrointestinal. I am miserable all the time. I feel like my food takes FOREVER to digest and move through my system! I feel like when I eat the food just "sits" there for such a long time. I feel constipated, but can "go" most days, though not completely. I have gained about 8 pounds, and most days I look like I'm pregnant!
I started taking Pradaxa less thatn a montha ago and am taking the same dosage and noticed the same heartburn and was prescribed Nexium for it. That is one of the side effects. I really did not experience the fatigue but I do have hip pain but I think that is due to skipping the gym for a couple of weeks. I'd call the Doc and let them know what is up.

Recently I learned that it can reduce uptake of calcium and have a negative effect on bones. After how long period of taking Esomeprazole this negative effect can occur? How about with other parts of body having calcium, e.g., teeth, quality of saliva, muscle contraction, etc?

I am very hesitant about PPI treatment due to their side effects. I am also taking calcium and magnesium. Anything further?

I believe I did hear a piece on the news - a brief bit as news usually goes, that some of the PPIs can cause joint problems. Google "side effects of Nexium". I took Nexium for 5 or 6 years and each day was misery with uncontrollable diarrhea, and pain. I am almost certain that there is a connection. It has many side effects, but I no longer have my pharmacy print-out of the side effects listed. My doctor told me Prevacid would not cause severe colitis, but it did.
ve been on it ever since, until now.. Nexium eats your calcium, my bones have started to feel like they ache so I started drinking almond milk and drink protein shakes to get the probiotics I need to help the acid and help me eat. My body aches, bones do, and I'm worried that I could developed a type of bone cancer. I didn't ask my mom because she thinks my anxiety screws me in the head makes me worry about 'stupid' stuff.. She is quite nervous about the side effects. We dont really know what to expect as I have heard different things from different doctors and nurses. I know it probably effects people differently but I am just wondering if anyone has had any similar experiences that they could share with me as to what to expect?
m in the same boat, benign PVCs, put on metoprolol tartrate 25mg twice a day. It sapped my energy, along other bad side effects. Worst part is, I still got PVCs (ectopic beats).
I quit them and I feel much better. If you've only been on them 2 days, your body is still adjusting to them and you may feel better but I doubt it.
Personally, I'm finding success reducing the PVCs with increasing my water intake and taking a dab of sea salt with each glass. Google "the water cure".
worsened IBS - bad abdominal cramps (caused by Nexium together with fever and Zantac)

I'd like to know if anybody has experienced intollerance to the various antireflux medicines similar to mine.
