nexium how it works

my insurence does not pay for brand Nexium. Only brand Nexium works. The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. it is different, t has a second release later in the day. My acid reflex is so bad that I have to take the 60 mg. pill twice a day but it works well. No more acid, no more pain. They may say all these meds are alike but until you have to use them you know they are not. BTW Kapadex has this special promotion. If you get a prescription from your doctor you can go online and register and print out this card or your doctor can give you the card if he is a gastro doc and has them.

Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............

Thanks for your help. Knowing someone takes Aciphex and it works, especially after trying Nexium, really makes me feel more confident in trying Aciphex. There is no 'safer.' It depends on which one works better for you. They don't all work by a completely similar mode of action. So you'll have to try to find the one that works and gives you the fewer side-effects.

t the way Nexium works (by dealing with stress, therefore dealing with acid production); it is a proton pump inhibitor and you can read up about that if you want to know more. It is also a "slow release" medication so it seems strange that it would be like a magic bullet and make you feel better. Are you sure this isn't from something else? Also, if you are only taking it for this reason, you should know about this risks.

The best medicines I have been prescribed are Nexium and Protonix. Protonix has a generic available so is inexpensive and works perfectly for me. Studies have shown Nexium to be consistently the most effective but it is more expensive and not always covered by every health insurance plan. United Healthcare for example does not cover Nexium.

Each of the PPIs is made to work on a slightly different step in the chain of making acid and secreting that acid into the stomach. Whether or not one med works better for a single individual will depend on how well it 'recognizes' and inhibits that step of the chain in your system. For some people nexium may work more effectively, or others it would be one of the others made by a different drug company.

I would let your doctor know that you are having the symptoms and they may suggest trying a different medication to see if it works better for you. Our bodies can start to react differently to medications over time or maybe something else has changed which is keeping it from working as well as it did previously.

I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.

we all need to experiment to find what works best....unfortunately it does not work bcuz the dr gave a an RX,,,,I know as this has happened to me where e gerd med stopped working and I needed to try a different med. I did some reading after reading about ur friend and joint pain from the meds is a possible side effect.

I have been eating nothing but oatmeal for lunch at work for about 3 months now and my acid reflux is about 75% better. It is not gone, but if I watch what I eat and how late I eat, it is much better than it was before the oatmeal. I still cannot say 100% that the oatmeal is what helps, but nothing else has changed in my diet. I will not even stop the oatmeal for testing purposes, if it seems to works I will stick with it. I just wanted to reduce my food intake at work.

It is usually helpful to try and keep to a schedule with meds....read the instructions that came with ur meds to see if it was specified....otherwise, find what works best for u. I find taking it at the same time everyday.....for me it is bcuz I have another med I must take 30 mins b4 I eat or take ne other meds, then I have one that must be taken 2 hrs b4 or after I take an antacid.....so for me I have to keep on schedule...and when I do, I feel better.

Thanks for your reply, we've talked before. I agree with all you have said, and have tried it all. I mean ALL. My problem is that at times my system doesn't produce enough acid, and sometimes too much. Numerous doctors have given up. It just goes in never ending circles. Ulcers flare and then settle down and it's when it all 'flares' that I decide life isn't worth living and desperately try something new.

They then switched me to Protonix which I am glad to say is working very well. So like CalGal said, it works differently with different people. Your daughter just needs to find one that works best for her. Good Luck!

I took nexium too and it worked like magic. I tablrt before going to sleep and I didn't feel anything the next day.
