Avatar n tn Ross, I hope the second round of antibiotics was done on a test other than a blood test for H. pylori. After you've acquired H. pylori, the subsequent tests to check for the presence of that bacterium should typically be a breath test. You may want to consider following a GERD diet. There are foods that are known to produce more acid than others, and still other foods that relax the lower esophageal sphincter more readily than others allowing refluxate into the esophagus.
Avatar f tn If nothing showed up in the biopsy, the only way to know whether you ever had H. pylori would be to do a blood test using antibodies. If you had ever had H. pylori you'll pop positive on that test. It's one of the reasons it can't be used to check if you've cleared H. pylori after being treated for it. You have to use a breath test instead.
199177 tn?1490498534 Sarby ,they gave me the blood test for h pylori it was neg but I think they will take tissue when they go in. Do you have sore throat alot and loose your voice alot.
Avatar f tn avoid any animal food (proteins), which stays for several hours in the stomach, also avoid anything acidic, vinegar, aspirins, alcohol...to prevent gastric irritation.
Avatar f tn I had a scope done and it showed severe gastritis with a small ulcer. I was put on nexium results for H. Pylori were negative. Symptoms improved but only for a couple of weeks. Once again I am vomiting and no appetite. I have lost over 30lbs without trying. 6 months after the first scope I just had another one done. This showed that in less then 6 months I now have 6 large ulcers, but none in the duodenum. Biopsies were negative once again for H. pylori and celiac disease.

Avatar f tn I would reccommend him get a test done for H-pylori as this could be his problem.
963268 tn?1312900315 My doctors office said my results were negative. (I guess for H Pylori). That is fine, but then why do I have gastritis? I am just frustrated that there is no answer! Does anyone have bouts of gastritis with no known reason? Thanks!
Avatar m tn i think it is not goining by antibiotic alone or garlic alone, i think H. Pylori can be treated by quadruple therapy for one week Esomeprazole (Nexium) + Clarithromycin (clacid) + Metronidazole (flagyl) + (Lactobacillus reuteri (i.e. biogaia) after the antibiotic course it has a suppression effect on h.pylori and prevent its occurance).
Avatar f tn After taking Celebrex about 6 years ago, I gradually started developing heartburn & reflux. It got so bad that I couldn't eat anything but saltine crackers and I lost 20 pounds over about a 2 month period. To go along with this, I would have episodes of tachycardia (heart rate 130 - 140) & difficulty breathing. The episodes of tachycardia & dyspnea seemed to be associated with stomach bloating & nausea.
Avatar f tn I agree with snoozies43 about the diet but also have him tested for H-pylori for the heartburn.
Avatar f tn I wouldn't take Nexium either without a diagnosis. Nexium suppresses stomach acid, so eventually your stomach will have to make more in order to digest protein and minerals. It becomes an ongoing chronic race between medication and the body's need to digest. But Nexium isn't for ulcers -- for an ulcer, they would give a potent antibiotic to kill the h. pylori. Nexium is for things such as IBS and GERD. The poster really needs a diagnosis in order to plan the next move.
Avatar m tn You will need to take a combination of medications (under medical supervision) like a proton pump inhibitor (like Nexium you are taking) such as omeprazole, lansoprazole or pantoprazole empty stomach in the morning and an antacid gel after meals for complete relief. Possibility of H pylori infection too should be looked into by a carbon urea breath test and a combination antibiotic tried. Many a times a persisting H pylori infection can be the cause behind acidity not responding to treatment.
Avatar f tn They said they don’t do breath tests or blood tests for h pylori anymore and said they would have to send me to a specialist for an endoscopy. They took a biopsy from the distal third of the esophagus and two from the body of my stomach. and on the paper it says “red patches antrum”. I don’t have a follow up appointment until January. This is really frustrating for me because no one seems to know what’s wrong with me.
Avatar m tn I was wondering if you've had a blood test for h. pylori. My doctor rubber-stamped me with GERD. The blood test for h. pylori came back neg. but I still had the symptoms ie. painfull stomach and small intestine, and acid reflux. Now I am on antiboitics and feel much better. Could be you have the same thing. I don't think anyone should suffer with gerd.
Avatar m tn If you first get tested for H. pylori, and eventualy treated for it, then you'll see which of your symptoms remain, and you'll conclude easier what is from drugs and what from other reasons. So you may leave the final decision about drugs for the time after H. pylori test.
Avatar f tn non-erosive gastritis of the gastric antrum. Nexium 40mg x 8 weeks. H. pylori neg with biopsy and lab test. I am very conscientious regarding my health and diet. I just don't understand why? Could I possible have a food allergy that is causing my gastritis? I do not take NSAIDS. Occassional glass of wine and coffee. No processed food. Plenty of fruits and vegetables. Are you able to offer any other advice?
Avatar f tn Then recently (July 2009), after having an upper endoscopy done, I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis. I tested negative for H Pylori. After researching gastritis, I learned of the link between the stomach pain and alcohol. However, I'm very confused because I haven't had much alcohol in my life and gastritis is usually caused by excessive alcohol. I don't smoke and I'm not an excessive caffeine drinker. I'm looking for answers on why I have gastritis.
Avatar m tn Suspected H. pylori. Ordered blood test for H. pylori. Prescribed 5-day Antibiotic Z-pack, Zantac 150mg (twice daily) and Protonix 20mg (once daily). **Second Doctor Visit (2 weeks later): Blood test for H. pylori negative. Advised to continue medication. **Two months: Symptoms showed minor improvement, then symptoms returned and worsened. Personally added Maloox to soothe symptoms. Did not help burning sensation in throat, water made it worse.
Avatar n tn In addition to having been diagnosed with Acid Reflux (GERD), it was discovered that I had somehow developed the H-Polori bacteria in my upper abdomin. All of this was found during an Endoscopy procedure. The day after the procedure, my doctor put me on a once-a-day, taken orally, 40 mg Nexium capsule. I've been on this medicine for 62 days now. I hear so much about not staying on this drug beyond 8 weeks, and my doctor just prescribed an additional 90-day supply. What should I do?
