s mental and physical health went downhill drastically when she was given nexium (acid blocker). I got her off nexium (sad to say she was on that nasty drug for 6 years!) and put her onto betaine HCL with pepsin (to increase stomach acid) and digestive enzymes to also help with digestion. Her acid reflux went away on these new supplements but to my surprise her severe gastritis pain (she has bile gastritis) went away slowly over a year!

I'm a 36 yr old female. 5'1" 200lbs. Last night just before bed I noticed some mild pitting edema on both my shins. There's no swelling in my feet or ankles. It's not real bad, you couldn't tell it by just looking, but I just noticed when I took my socks off that the indention the socks made looked slightly more than normal... so I did the finger test, where you press your finger down for a few seconds and it definitely left an indentation for a few seconds.

He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.

Yes, Nexium is completely safe to take with hepatitis C.

my insurence does not pay for brand Nexium. Only brand Nexium works. The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.

I went to so my doctor be one day I started with this slight pain in the soft spot between my breast bone and I started to vomit. He told me he thinks it's acid reflux so he gave me Nexium. Since I've started the Nexium my stomach is always puffed and I want to vomit all the time, he also send me to do an ultrasound of the abdomen and UGI test, will be doing that in two weeks.

I doubt that "NEXIUM" has anything to do with your sisters knee pain. You can refer to the package insert if you look up the medication..

I take 40mg daily of nexium daily. I was having acid attacks even with the Nexium, alway at night when sleeping. I have the wedge, extra pillows etc. Garvistan, Tums next to my bed. I once asked Dr. when could I stop Nexium he said I would need to lose weight. I have low iron, low B levels. Thinning hair etc. I already have spinal stenosis. I have been on Nexium for at least 10 years. Anyone out there who's been able to quit Nexium, let me know how and how long it took.

There is nothing in the manufacturer's literature regarding bone loss with Nexium. If the Nexium is diminishing your calcium supply then you may need to increase your calcium intake. First, I would suggest a bone density scan to make sure if your calcium levels are low or not and to measure the strength of your bones. Please discuss this issue further with your primary doctor.

I have had rt thigh, calf and hip edema since 1/14. It came on out of nowhere. No injury. Neg for DVT, neg MRI for mass, neg mass on abdominal CT scan. Multiple hypodense, Ill defined nodules were identified on spleen and a few on liver. CT scan of chest identified multiple hilar lymphadenopathy. This prompted bx. Dx: Sarcoidosis. i also had/have edema in feet ankles, and lower legs. she had me do toe, foot, and ankle exercises to move the edema along. edema is a passive disorder that requires muscle contraction to circulate the trapped lymph. the swelling is tx related, because it limits your mobility. walk and exercise.

3 months after these tests, I started having bi lateral edema in both lower legs/ankles, but not so much my feet. I went to my GP was ran CBC, CMP, Liver panel, and BNP test. He was no longer concerned. I then went to another cardiologist for 2nd opinion, he did another echo and again the EF was 61%. I then saw a 2nd GP for a fresh opinion about the edema and he wasn't concerned either, after the normal blood tests.
