Nexium and rolaids

Common Questions and Answers about Nexium and rolaids

Avatar n tn I am a 37 year old male who has been on Synthroid since 2006 after a total thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer I also suffer from chronic GERD and gastritis and I am on Nexium as well..Both my Doctors (Gastro and Endo) told there is no interaction between Nexium and Synthroid. However, other drugs used in the treatment of symptoms of GERD including antacids (Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids for example) as well as Carafate (also known as sucralfate) can cause problems with Synthroid.
Avatar f tn I suppose Nexium 40mg and Zantac 150mg each day that I was taking are considered either PPI and/or H2RA? Those are what I was instructed to stop 5-7 days prior to the test. Thank you!
7840219 tn?1401214688 When I started trying to get pregnant, my doctor took me off Nexium, and had me taking 2 Zantacs 150mg daily. Those never worked as well but it was worth it for baby. Now I am almost 24 weeks, the Zantacs do not work a bit. I have tried taking 3 daily, with no luck. Gaviscon, Pepcid, Tums, Rolaids, and Maalox also don't work. So I tried some natural remedies, like cedar vinegar, hot water, pickle juice, milk. Still nothing can tame this beast!!
Avatar m tn He pokes and prods, not much of interest I guess. He said that it seems like acid reflux and prescribed Nexium to me and said that if it got worse to go to an ACC. I took a Nexium a little more than an hour ago, and despite the pharmacist saying it worked "soon" (though it seems to be hard to find definite information about that on the net) I'm back to my cramping agony. I've had mild heartburn before from eating/drinking too much, but this is not like that.
Avatar n tn I also suffer from severe heartburn. I finally went to the doctor to find out what was wrong. He gave me trial samples of the Nexium but told me to take them daily, not just when I have heartburn. Since I started the Nexium I have had little to no heartburn. It is so nice to go from having heartburn daily to hardly ever. I've only been on the Nexium for one week.
Avatar f tn Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. Can you tell me: 1. Have you ever heard of hearburn/GERD starting after a bowel resection 2.
Avatar f tn I had heartburn very bad and am able to take a preventive medicine morning and night and feel great again! Constant heartburn is the worst.
Avatar f tn Hey all, I do have acid reflux and usually I have no problems but for the past 2 nights in the middle of the night I've been having issues. The pain seems to start in my stomach and moves up. It really scares me thinking something is wrong with my heart.

Avatar f tn Oh yes. They are fine. I lived on rolaids and tums. Lifesavers!
Avatar f tn I have had a bout with gerd. The gnawing hungry feeling and the burning was relieved minimally by eating. It was bad enough that I was worried that if I did not eat erosions or ulcers would happen.. so I ate too much. Today I was able to do better. I hope to be on track tomorrow.. I need to weigh again.
Avatar f tn I had this problem, I would choke on bile in the middle of the night. Finally asked the doctor and they gave me nexium for the acid reflux and reglan for nausea. I haven't had issues since then but I am afraid to stop taking the nexium. Luckily I am almost done.
Avatar n tn I have taken the max amount of tums you can take and it didnt help. Then I took a nexium 40mg and that didnt work. I have pains pretty bad in chest an back, it even hurts to breath sometimes, it's been like this for 19hrs. What do I do?
709686 tn?1277432159 Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.
Avatar f tn Have you tried tums? Mylanta? Eating smaller meals, no soda, no juice, nothing acidic. More bread like foods, and chocolate milk?
1183149 tn?1264145420 type medication, I would suggest asking her doctor about a PPI (proton pump inhibitor) type medication such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prontix and Prevacid. These types of medications help reduce the amount of acid that the stomach produces. They are taken on a daily basis - not just when symptoms occur. Sometimes another medication is needed if symptoms occur even with the PPI, such as something like Tums or Rolaids.
733930 tn?1286571409 so i will probably take 2 like an hour before bed and see if it helps, since lying down with acid and indigestion is very annoying, and keeps me up.
Avatar n tn I have had 2 EGDs with findings of hiatal hernia, GERD, esophageal ulcers and some Barrett's. I have used ranitadine, gaviscon, Tums, Rolaids, Tagamet, Pepcid, Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid, Aciphex and most recently Protonix. I am taking 2 Protonix a day, still having reflux at least 2-3 times per week. Now PCP has put me on Reglan at night which helps with the reflux but I am unable to sleep taking it (up every hour or two with jitteriness, insomnia and nightmares).
