nexium and rolaids

I suppose Nexium 40mg and Zantac 150mg each day that I was taking are considered either PPI and/or H2RA? Those are what I was instructed to stop 5-7 days prior to the test. Thank you!

I had heartburn very bad and am able to take a preventive medicine morning and night and feel great again! Constant heartburn is the worst.

I had this problem, I would choke on bile in the middle of the night. Finally asked the doctor and they gave me nexium for the acid reflux and reglan for nausea. I haven't had issues since then but I am afraid to stop taking the nexium. Luckily I am almost done.

I have taken the max amount of tums you can take and it didnt help. Then I took a nexium 40mg and that didnt work. I have pains pretty bad in chest an back, it even hurts to breath sometimes, it's been like this for 19hrs. What do I do?

Esomeprazole (Nexium) is slightly different than omeprazole (Prilosec). But your body could react the same way. You could try a small amount and see. There are some combo otc drugs by Rolaids and others that have an antacid and famotidine (acid reducer). Those probably don't work as well.

Have you tried tums? Mylanta? Eating smaller meals, no soda, no juice, nothing acidic. More bread like foods, and chocolate milk?

Both said they did not believe there was a correlation to the hearburn and resection. The GI doctor put me on Aciphex for 6 days which did not work and put me on Nexium 40 mg twice daily yesterday which does not seem to be working either as I have to take rolaids about 5 hours after taking the Nexium. I do have a medium size hiatal hernia along with barrett's esophagus and GERDS. Besides the nexium 40mg twice a day I also take Maalox, but I don't have any indigestion at all. I don't drink coffee, tea or soda. I may have a few beers with friends once a month. I have been staying away from spicy, fried and oily foods, but it dosen't seem to help with the pain. I don't eat anything for at least 4 hours before bedtime.

I live on Nexium, Carafate, Pepto-Bismol, Rolaids and anything else that I think will help. It does feel better when I eat and I have not lost any weight. I have had a colonoscopy recently and that was fine. Have had all kinds of blood work, which has been fine. I am due to see my GI on Thursday and wondered what I should ask him about this Major Problem! I have read that Mastic Gum and Peppermint work. Does anyone have any experience with anything that makes them feel better?

m taking prevacid in the morning and then zantac 150 2x a day and still eat the smoothie tums and alka seltzer. My ob said next appt if no better she will prescribe me something. I go back the 26th and am seriously counting down the days so I feel ya. I wake up with it when I haven't ate or drank all night. Good luck.

I constantly have acid relflux. Associated with painful belching of food and liquid back into my throat. I have had this problem going on 3 years now. I have to get this fixed. Any suggestions?

Yes this is fairly common during tx, check with you doctor about giving you either nexium, prevacid, or prilosec. All are safe to take, nexium and prevacid worked best for me. Congrats on being over halfway done. Wishing you the best.

Diane just asked if Pepsid was the same this is the response: Jmjm had the worst case of GERD out of just about anybody on the forum and he said these are ok - it's the same thing copyman said so I guess it's perfectly fine just stay away from Tums and Mylanta and Maalox and those things! Just don't take Pepsid complete!

I was wondering if this has anything to do with my acid reflux, i am not talking any medication for my acid reflux except rolaids and tums. I went and got blood work last week and the doctor hasnt called me back yet. Ive felt like this when i first found out i had acid reflux but it was worse and lasted about a month then went away. But i was just wondering if this could be caused by acid reflux.

When I have questions or concerns I call my doctor or nurse on call.. I took rolaids and tums throughout my first pregnancy which was 10 yrs ago my baby can out 100% fine.. an I have been using rolaids with this pregnancy.. if in doubt ask your doctor..

I struggled with those for almost two years. When I tapered off the Nexium meds and used a simple, over-the-counter antacid (containing calcium and magnesium) as needed, the PVCs lessened. When I ate carefully and finally stopped Nexium completely (using the OTC antacid only when needed and in small amounts) the PVCs went away completely. I've been free of them for almost two years now.

1) sleep with the head of your bed raised about 6 inches, 2) do not eat anything within 3 - 4 hours of going to bed or 2 hours of liing down, 3) avoid spicy and acidic foods, chocolate and caffeine. Then identify and avoid any other food triggers you may have (keeping a diary can help with this). I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.

I had this. Finally went to the doctor because I couldn't keep anything down. They gave me anti nausea meds and Nexium. I have been taking the medium for almost two weeks and haven't had this problem since.

Drinking milk helps and if your really desparte and have nothing else on hand a spoonful of baking soda mixed with a glass of water works really well, you have to drink it fast though it's pretty gross, gotta take it like a shot..
