nexium and laxatives

I had been constipated on my vacation and took an EZlax. I felt better immediatly. Soon after I felt stomach pains and took it again. I used it because they made me feel better, now I stopped using them and I can't go to the restroom without it. I'm really nervous because I'm so young (14) and I don't want to be unhealthy. I'm afraid to tell my parents and I would like to know some foods or drinks that could help me go to the restroom again.

I am also taking pain medicine which is much needed for getting through this recovery and other health issues. Saw my surgeon last week and there are no other follow up visits. My question is: when is the normal amount of time to cut back some of the laxatives? It doesn't seem like my abdomen is ever relaxing. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

You could ask the doctor for those blood tests like the thyroid function, kidney function and liver function and also for tips on a healthy way to shed any unhealthy extra pounds if he says your body fat percentage is higher than the healthful range. Hi, Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.

I recently found out I'm about 6 weeks pregnant. I have been using laxatives, bisacodyl tablets, for years because of constipation. I know I've become somewhat dependant on them. I had a slight bit of spotting today and I'm wondering if it could be due to the laxatives or if it is just the normal spotting that comes along with the first trimester of pregnancy?

that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.

Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.

I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?

If too stressed, etc, I still have a habit of purging, and or restricting. I also admit, I do abuse laxatives, and I have for a long time, off and on. I hate to admit it, but might as well be honest. I can take up to eight-fifteen laxatives a day, (usually just eight though...not that, that makes it any better). If I don't take them, it can be up two a week and half before I can movey bowels, and when I do, I never feel like they have completely emptied.

Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.

Please explain exactly what you are feeding on a daily basis, whether any medications and supplements are being given (including the type of probiotic), her age and breed and whether any other illnesses are known. What laxatives have you tried?

Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.

Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.

The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............

I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.

Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.

I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?

She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis. If you don't want to go cold turkey you could try taking digestive enzyme supplements and wean off nexium more slowly.

If you've been on the nexium and you've changed your diet to a GERD-friendly one and the symptoms continue, have you been scoped yet? If not, it's time to ask your doc for more testing. Ask to be tested for H. pylori and have an upper endoscopy done to get an idea of what your esophagus, stomach and duodenum look like. All PPIs have side-effects that can be more serious than weight gain.
