nexium and itching

Had been on Augmentin for a sinus infection, just finishing up the script, and take Crestor, Nexium, and Zyrtec on a regular basis. Symptoms started a few days after starting generic Zyrtec, which also caused unbelievable dryness that felt like I was dehydrated (no vomiting, though). A day after the chills, I noticed my urine was dark and my stools were very light, almost gray, and I started getting very itchy but no rash.

Hello, I had 2 iv contrast CT scans done within a months time June 13 and July 12. On my 2nd scan I had a delayed reaction of itching, redness on the skin of my eyebrows and nose plus a red goosebump type rash below my breastbone. I took benadryl and the redness cleared up within a day and the rash is almost gone. On July 14th I started to feel like there was a lump in my throat and took more benadryl which helped but made my throat really dry.

I take Nexium 40mg which is class b. I took it with my first 9 years ago and taking it now and im 37 weeks. Zantac, and tums didnt work for me either. ask your dr.

They told us that her lungs wereseverly damaged from years of smoking etc, they prescribed her a steriod(medose pak) and atibiotic(leviquin), nexium and nicoderm cq. she has takin all of the medication now exept the nexium. Two days after completing her medication she began to itch. Now the attacts come on and in starts in her hands and goes all over her body. We have tried benidril, calamine lotion etc nothing seems to help. Can you please help us?

Hi, Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.

that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.

I am on 5mg Reglan 2-3 times daily for gastroparesis. Also, Nexium 40mg and zantac 150 mg. Is there any concern of being on any of these drugs long term?

Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.

I have had gerd plus a hiatal hernia for years. I take nexium and have for at least ten years. Now I am told I have iron defiency anemia. Reading through the insert that comes with nexium it appears this drug could cause the anemia. Has anybody experienced this?

Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.

Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.

Has anyone else experienced only nexium working? I have used all other medicines and they don't seem to work, but now my insurance company wont pay for it.

The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. Yes nexium is ok to take, i hane cirrhosis and thats what my hepo ordered for me, he did switch me to prilosec only because its over the counter same as prevacid which is also ok.............

I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.

Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.

I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?

She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis. If you don't want to go cold turkey you could try taking digestive enzyme supplements and wean off nexium more slowly.

If you've been on the nexium and you've changed your diet to a GERD-friendly one and the symptoms continue, have you been scoped yet? If not, it's time to ask your doc for more testing. Ask to be tested for H. pylori and have an upper endoscopy done to get an idea of what your esophagus, stomach and duodenum look like. All PPIs have side-effects that can be more serious than weight gain.

Can nexium and priolac cause weight gain. ARe there any other over the counter meds for reflux/sour stomach?

ve never tried Domperidone, but the only meds that helped me were Nexium or Kapidex taken twice daily. I tried prevacid and it was very brief because it just didn't work for me :( Also, I use to take one Kapidex/Nexium PLUS some Amitriplyn, but I knocked the amitriplyn out of my regimen. Either way, it offered more good days then bad.

I received my first dose Tuesday for the first scan Friday and the bigger dose to be given at that time. I take Nexium daily and if I don't I have extreme burning in my stomach.

I just want to add that scratching releases histamines within the body. So sometimes the itching will actually get worse by scratching it. Opiate use also causes itching. Have you tried taking an antihstamine for the itching? Chemical imbalances can cause a host of symptoms and who know if itching isn't one of them. Every body is different.

Mental stress and physical exertion can cause angina (chest pain) due to the heart not receiving enough blood/oxygen. Your doctor should have given you a free sample of a nitrate. If there is immediate relief from the discomfort, it could indicate occluded vessels. A nitrate pill diltates coronary vessels. An EKG is not very reliable for ischemia dx. A stress test is a better test for possible occlusions.
