I have been diagnosed with Gerd and took Nexium 40 for 3 months with no relief and hives and acne as side effects. Now, I have been having dizzy and lightheaded spells, shortness of breath, with pain from my shoulders down through both of my arms. On the back of an acid reducer otc medication, it says that these symptoms may be a sign of a more serious condition, but I cannot find out what that condition can be.
I went back to the doctor because the hives did not go away and was prescribed, Nexium, Valium and Claritin. I myself decided to take a Benadryl and Allegra chaser on my own because the Claritin itself was not strong enough. I was prescribed pain killers after the surgery, but have not taken any for 2 weeks now.
Could I be allergic to stitches or the meds used during general anestethia? If so, how long does it take for your histamine levels to decrease once the meds are out of your system.
My mother is free of severe GERD and severe LPR after stopping the acid blocker nexium and starting betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (increases stomach acid) and digestive enzyme supplements (helps with digestion).

And it was only once then. It just happened so suddenly, I was breathing find and then I lie down and immediately begin experiencing problems. I also have terriible posture and spend 5+ hours a day using the computer, sitting not up straight in a chair, not sure if that has anything to do with it either.

Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.
that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.
I have chronic acid reflux and hives for the past 20 years. I discuss this with my gastro doc many times as I have a terrible break out of hives each time I have a painful acid reflux attack. He doesn't seem to care. Anyway, please let me know what you find out. I take medication on a daily basis for both. I just had another bout of both (hives first) following a cold/sinus infection. By the way, I was going to a well known mold specialist for many years.
Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.
Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.
Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.

The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. How can I resolved this problem?

I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.
Hello, I am 16 turning 17 in May. I started taking Nexium in 2013 in August. I have a severe case of Acid Reflux. My esophagus is mildly burned. I have no ulcers. Ever since I was 5 I had acid reflux disease for years we couldn't figure it out neither could my mom she just thought I had bad morning stomach aches until she became an EMT paramedic in 2010, ever since she figured it out we've been looking for medicine to help.
I have been having really bad heartburn and a burning feeling in my stomach. I was told to take Nexium but I have a severe allergy to penicillin. My question is, can I take nexium if I'm allergic to penicillin?
She was on acid blockers for 25 years (tagament for 20 years, nexium for 5 years and also took gaviscon for 10 years). I took my mother off nexium and gaviscon cold turkey and started digestive enzyme supplements and betaine HCI with pepsin supplements in their place. She never got worse only better. She no longer suffers GERD, LPR and is 95% improved with gastritis. If you don't want to go cold turkey you could try taking digestive enzyme supplements and wean off nexium more slowly.
