I have been taking nexium for the past few months due to gerd. I also wonder how it works.
Basically, approximately twice a month, I will suffer from a bout that last between 1 and 3 days that generally consists of EXTREME bloating, EXTREME flatulence, cramping, and, sometimes, irregular bowel movements. Sometimes it comes in conjunction with constipation…sometimes it comes with significant diarrhea.
She has been diagnosed with radiation enteritis. Is presently on Nexium following a bout of vomiting and diarrhea, weight loss. She has had endoscopy, colonoscopy and a capsule study all of which revealed irritation and inflammation, no strictures. She has been following the standard radiation enteritis diet.
My 49 year old father is suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertension, OSA and severe LV dysfunction,LVEF = 46% (at the of diagnosis in nov 2012 it was 25% then became 28% and now 46%). He has 2 stones in his gall bladder. Not painful but he has flatulence and have to defecate 2 times a day, immediately after a meal.
Is it safe for him to undergo a gall bladder surgery?

I am taking nexium 40mg once a day and imodium 1mg three and four times a day to slow down.If you want to try the imodium; get the tablets so you can adjust your dose. You have to take it for at least 5 days before you can see the results. If you are lucky, the imodium may be all you need. Please let me know if this has helped you .I already know the solution to my problem by paying attention to what my body is telling me but that will do me no good without a DR.s diagnosis.
I have had a lot of flatulence and bloating for the past four months and had an endoscopy done last week. Am not sure what the biopsy report means though: it says pleomorphic rod like organisms are focally identified. What does this mean?
I am reading a lot on the subject, experimenting with diet and relaxation and the occasional spoonful of Maalox. I relate to the person who said they felt fine until after the endoscopy. I never had this globus feeling in my throat before, and now it is there all the time, no matter what or when I eat or don't eat. THAT is stressful!

Im hoping to talk to a doctor about nexium. Im here on behalf of my girlfriend who recently started to take nexium for her stomach pains. She has been very hot at random times and has been nauseas at night. Her period was suppose to start yesterday but it has not yet and we are not sure as to why it has not. She had one episode of cramps this morning but it was very short and ended soon after.

Beano will not help with the intestinal gas, only belching. I have this problem, and it's usually from eating vegetables, especially raw. Try to avoid that and see if it helps.
My sister has had some blood work showing the possibility of celiac disease. She is 70 years old and is asymptomatic. Her Dr. wants to do a biopsy of the small intestine but she doesn't want to. That's where my question comes in. I know that that celiac disease is inherited, but my parents, who are both deceased, were never diagnosed with celiac. They both, as well as my only sibling, have diverticulosis. I, however, have much flatulence which has become quite embarrassing at times.
that you were on anyway right? if he or she knew you were on nexium and xanax and still prescribed it to you then it should be okay i guess. also the same for your doc. that prescribed you the nexium. sometimes you can find on certain websites like drugs.com or something how certain meds react with others.
Hello, I'm new to this site. I was recently diagnosed with GERD, and prescribed to nexium. Today is the 2 week mark of taking nexium. The only symptom I seem to get is really bad belching and it feels like there is a lump in my throat, those were the same symptoms I had when I was diagnosed. I had the same symptom for about a month before i went in. Maybe once or twice did I get heartburn or get an acidic taste in my mouth.
I noticed excessive, frequent, and untimely flatulence very soon, within a few days or maybe a couple of days, after starting triple med treatment with Pegasys, Riba and Incivek. It was frequent, unexpected (when I would get up from sitting in a chair or cough), and usually it just happened and I had no control over it. Luckily I am usually alone so not too many embarrassing moments.
I think it is the Incivek although I suppose the fat could contribute.
Hi, I just switched from Prevacid to Nexium and within two days started to have dark stools. Have had an endoscopy, CT scan of my abdomen and also a ultra sound on my stomach. Nothing has turned up to be a problem but still the dark stools. I would appreciate someone commenting if they've experienced the same with Nexium, "the little purple pill". Thanks.
I cant ly on my left side because of the pain and it feels that there is not enough space for my lung and my hart beat raises. My left arm also pain and have pins and needles in my hand. I also suffer from fever for years. Most days I am feeling sick. I do take Celebrex for the rib pain these last month. I were diagnosed yesterday with Cotsochondritis but do not know if it can be something else.
Massive amounts of heartburn, bad indigestion, throwing up at times ( no blood ) and also always has gas 90 percent of the day. He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from.

The company who makes Nexium will ok brand if I have a rejection from my Ins. Co. I called my Ins. co and they said that the do not send papers out that they do not pay for brands. How can I resolved this problem?

I think the confusion about all of the PPIs, including nexium, is that most docs prescribe PPIs without a lot of testing and without that testing it's possible that if someone feels better taking the nexium and stays on it longterm without any testing being done, it could end up masking a more serious problem - like stomach cancer.
