Approx 2 weeks after the first 2 surgeries, I wound up with hives, c-diff and then anaphylaxis and was hospitalized a week each time. I went to multiple specialists who tested everything they could think of including parasite infestation. I had nuclear dye tests, a colonoscopy, endoscopy, blood work, routine allergy testing (including latex), MRI, x-rays and CT scans (one of the doctors I saw thought the surgeon might have left something inside my body that I was reacting to).
@Tanjat's advice is perfect. I had c diff and boy oh boy it was no fun. The doctor treated me with antibiotics but my digestive system was still uneasy afterwards, but, it was florastor that gave me my life back. Best wishes and I hope that all gets better soon.
I got c-diff June of 2018 they would not test it because it was too thick, had cellulitis and was again put on zoxin got diarrhea again and my doctor tested me and it came back negative. Went on a trip to florida and had accidents in the car, the smell is very distictive. saw doc when I got home he got another sample and put me on vanco. I stopped having stomach problems immediatly althoud test still negative. shortly afterward I was hospitalied it started again.
Hi, just recovered from C Diff as well. Had it for 5 months and it took three extended rounds of antibiotics to completely knock it out, the last round being a six week vancomycin taper. I had many "false negative" lab results in between relapses. You didnt mention which med you took for your C Diff, but I just wanted to add that my first round was Flagyl, and it caused the numbness/tingling/swelling for me. The vancomycin did not.
I was on antibiotics most of the summer for various reason and then when I got a abscessed tooth the dentist gave me a antibiotic that in the end I got c-diff and was prescribed flagyl for 10 days. After taking the medication I felt better but now about a little over 2 weeks I have a tightness in my stomach and feel bloated, really gassy, plus my stool isn't diarrhea but is not really my normal stool. I also have an occasional discomfort under or right at my belly button.
my 1 year old daughter has c-diff and they put her on a antibiotic to treat her for it, she ran out of medicine a day early is that ok? she also still has diareah and it still has the smell it had when she had c-diff should i get her tested again.? is it normal for it not to go away after her taking medicind?
My dog is paralyzed from ruptured discs in her back despite surgery. She obviously has no bowel or bladder control secondary to this. She has been on antibiotics twice for a urinary tract infection in the last 16 months. She has never had diarrhea but since she does occasionally have an accident in the house, I was curious whether a human can get C diff from her.
The doctor who performed the endo said my esophagus was totally healed and I could stop taking the Nexium. I did and my symptoms returned within a few days. I tried ranitidine - no help. Finally it was so bad I asked my MD to put me back on Nexium.
I have tried stopping the Nexium several times. I've tried Prilosec OTC. It helped while I was actually on it, but once the 14 day course was finished my symptoms returned after 2 days.
gastritis let to my Hep C dx but I have never been able to link both conditions.
Have had great HepC blood work (enzymes,VL ect...) during very bad gastritis and
very mild gastritis symptoms during upflare of HepC.....
Have been UND for 30wks on tx now and it has no impact on my gastritis.
BTW , acid blockers don`t work for me either but Carafate did, with the added bonus
that it only gets minimally absorbed in the bloodstream and therefore is no additional
burden on the liver.
I am a 55 year old woman and I was diagnosed with GERD in 2002 and have been on Nexium all this time. I am concerned about the long term use of taking Nexium for this length of time and have recently went off of it and am trying more natural/holistic things. The heartburn is back along with sour burps and I get some relief from aloe vera but I noticed that I get really hungry a lot sooner than before but I get full quickly.
Is there any safe way to treat the UTI when I may or may not still have C. Diff. For now, the only relief I get is drinking lots of water and cranberry juice--which results in many trips to the bathroom. If I don't drink water, it becomes quite miserable. The doctor says he cannot test for the presence of C. Diff. until I have been off Vancomycin for 2 weeks. Even still I really do not want to take another antibiotic now.
