547836 tn?1302832832 d give products like Gas-X or Beano a try since both are over the counter easily available to mass market. But i just noticed that the main active ingredient is Simethicone 80mg used for antigas along with calcium carbonate, dextrose, flavors, maltodextrin, and starch. so i did what i always do and searched for Simethicone in our handy dandy search bar for the community and found some articles stating that Simethicone may decrease Riba absorption by 14%.

Avatar f tn I have been on nexium for 6weeks, the doctor then put me on 40mg somac as nexium made me sick. I am on somac for 6weeks now. I had an endoscopy and a coeliac test, negative, no abnormalitys either not even an inflamation. The doctor said I am all good and to reduce somac slowly (every 3 days, every 3 days and then stop). I also had ibs, ezcma, nausea, weakness, reflux, heartburn, dizziness and being tired all the time, migranes and so on.
Avatar m tn I had a very bad acid reflux attack, which has gotten alot better with a strict diet and Nexium. My only issue left is a sore feeling by my rib cage right and left and right in the middle of my stomach right below the middle of my chest. Is this air in my body? Is this a side effect of Nexium? I've been on Nexium for 3 days. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Still have a slight burn here and there, but much much better.
Avatar n tn There are products being sold that often contain a fraction of the active ingredient or they use a lot of filler in place of the active ingredient, which has no medicinal value at all.
Avatar f tn Scary stuff to be putting in your body.Mothballs are nearly 100% active ingredient, and the active ingredient may be either naphthalene or paradichlorobenzene. Naphthalene is an aromatic hydrocarbon found in coal car or crude oil. Most products containing naphthalene in the U.S. are used to control clothes moths in airtight containers. Paradichlorobenzene is a chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbon. It is a fumigant insecticide and repellent.
1026926 tn?1292113815 You can actually take any over the counter med that has that as the ONLY active ingredient. They say musinex (plain one) has this in pill form too. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn My doc prescribed me 40mg nexium for the next month to see if it helps with my reflux. He told me to take it with food since the stomach cells need to be active (food activates them) for most benefit. That is in complete contradiction to the label, which says to take it 1hr before eating. I have taken other PPIs and they also suggest the 1hr before eating rule.
Avatar f tn it says the active ingredient is Guiafensen 400mg
Avatar f tn I have noticed that I have oily stools. When I take Nexium 40mg per day it relieves the pain from excess acid. I have struggled since Oct with extreme pains under my right breast -onto the actual ribs etc and was diagnosed with Costo ?? Nothing helped ! Nexium took 95% of symptoms away though - coincidence you think?
Avatar n tn The active components in Nexium are esomprazole magnesium and in Prilosec are Omeprazole Magnesium. Also, Nexium comes in 20 mg and 40 mg capsules and Prilosec is sold over the counter in 20 mg tablets. My GI switched me to Nexium because Aciphex gave me terrible side effects and Protonix made my water brash symptoms ever worse. I have tried Prilosec in the past and it didn't have much of an effect for me.
Avatar n tn I had a fungal infection on my skin that I treated with the active ingredient in jock itch cream, and it did almost nothing. I switched to the one for athlete's foot, with a different active ingredient, and that worked a charm. Here's a list of some of the common anti-fungals: https://www.nhs.
Avatar n tn Orlistat (active ingredient in Xenical) is also the active ingredient used in the weight loss aid - Alli, which is the first OTC weight loss aid, approved by FDA as safe and effective for weight loss. It does work and so far, seems to be safe. It works by blocking fat absorption. There are some unpleasant side effects if you don't eat properly, which is mainly avoiding fat. The main side effect is uncontrollable, oily, runny stools, if too much fat is consumed.
Avatar n tn Hi, some stool softeners are safe for kitties. In fact, my vet has my kitty on Docusate Sodium. That's the active ingredient in Colace and some other brands. Take a look at the medicine bottle and if that's the only ingredient you see.....then I promise you...kitty will be fine. BTW, I've had the liquigel melt in my cats mouth(apparently, I didn't get it down her throat all the way).....and she did that salivating, too. She was not a happy camper in the least.
Avatar f tn I use unisom sleep tabs. I've taken them since the very beginning and I'm now 38 weeks. The active ingredient is doxylamine. Just check the box because unisom also has a kind with diphenhydramine as the active ingredient and that's just benadryl and doesn't work as well. The doxylamine is actually commonly paired with b6 for morning sickness as well. I have had barely any nausea issues since I've been taking it. It works well!
Avatar m tn Levothyroxine is the generic name; Synthroid is a brand name. Both contain the same medication (active ingredient), but can vary in the fillers (inactive ingredients).
Avatar m tn Been taking Zantac effervescent regularly and have tried every other drug known to man but the doctor suggested we try 20mg Nexium a day to see if that helps. It has, but after 10 days now I seem to be getting worse again. Also started taking Gaviscon (again) before meals. The question is how long do we take the Nexium? permenently, or stop when I feel better? the doctor was vague abd said the usual; come back in 2 weeks and let me know how you are. Anybody have any side affects?
Avatar f tn He followed up with his doctor on this and I do not think they did the right thing by giving him Nexium. Since he has been on the nexium he has gained 20-30lbs and is now feeling bloated and worse than before. I just do not know what to do about this anymore. I do not know what it could be caused from. If maybe I could get a diet for this type of thing so i knew what kinds of foods that would be best for his stomach and or a better diagnosis. Could this be IBS? We will be following up with a G.
