Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
Avatar f tn Well...here I am with a question about my taper. I have been tapering off clonazepam very very slowly for a couple of years. I am down to .25 mg per day. (1/2 half tab two times per day) This is the smallest wafer form available. It really is not supposed to be split, but my doc prescribed it this way. Can I just quit now, without side-effects???
Avatar f tn Hi All!! I have heard that gabapentin/neurontin is helpful with withdrawls from vicoden...I was wondering if anyone has used this while in withdrawl and if it did indeed help make withdrawls a little easier? Thank you for your help..I am currently trying to taper off vicoden..
Avatar f tn When I decided to switch to Lyrica, my doctor had me do a taper off Neurontin and onto Lyrica to reduce risk of seizure. I have a lot more energy, my butt has gotten smaller ;-) and it is just as effective for nerve pain. You definitely want to taper off if you are going to stop though because of the seizure issue. I hope this helps and good luck!
Avatar f tn can neurontin make you moody anf what r the side effects of drinkinh with it ,how can a oerson wean thereselves off it 1200mg in the morning and 800mg at 1,5,and bedtime
Avatar f tn They do have you taper it sometimes when they have you come of if you are using it as anti seizure med.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Neurontin for what they are thinking are overactive nerves. I had an injury 2 years ago and am still in pain and they think it's from the nerves not having settled or still being irritated. The doc said this was the safest med he prescribes. I don't like medicine.
Avatar n tn t remember what the taper was for the Neurontin but the Lyrica we just stopped. But it could be the dose I was on. I'd definitely ask your doctor or pharmacist. (Or maybe both.
Avatar f tn I have about 25 600 mg pills. My question is while I taper off the Xanax, when should I start with the Neurontin to try to avoid seizing at hhome. I hope this all makes sense and someone has answer for me. I have to try to get thru this without having a lot of trouble.
1134609 tn?1269272200 And, I have asked many questions with respect to using Neurontin to wean off of the benzos, and again, I get no response..
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar n tn Neurontin (aka: gabapentin) is generally used to treat seizures and neuropathic pain. It's most obvious side effect is sedation, and due to what it does to the brain, this effect is virtually unavoidable at therapeutic doses. Other common effects include sleepiness, dizziness, lack of concentration, and reduced reflexes. You can find complete site effect lists on web sites like rxlist.com Neurontin is generally a very safe, well-tolerated med that has few drug interactions.
Avatar f tn Your doctor said to taper the neurontin. I would trust my doctor over the people here. The people here are not doctors nor do they know your personal history. You pay your doctor to take care of your health. As some other smarter people here said, talk to your doctor about when to quit, how to quit, or if you should be taking other medication. I wish you the best!
1415174 tn?1453243103 How do you taper off of Neurontin? I have gone so far from 900 mg a day to 500mg a day. 200 per week then 100 a week now. Is that too slow? I have gotten insomnia, anxiety and general not feeling good and even increase in back pain. Is the last few hundred much harder?
Avatar f tn Ive been taking 2 mg of a suboxone strip every 3-4 days , I have extender restless legs that keep me from getting any rest/sleep. Avatar n tn I have to stop taking Lortabs - I posted about 8 weeks ago. My doctor agreed to a VERY kind taper schedule, but I did not stick to it. I came clean with the people who have been doling out my pills last night. I'm at about 100mg of hydro a day. I have approximately 20, 5 mg Lortabs (someone else has them, so I'm not sure of the exact amount). My question is this: can anyone help me with a taper schedule, and will Neurontin help with anything?
9704730 tn?1405741284 Hello I have a question about neurontin. I recently stopped taking tramadol after 13 years. I had a very difficult time doing so. I stopped Dec 6. My doctor put me on neurontin but I think I am now having withdrawal symptoms from neurontin. I have been taking about 900 mg a day since September. It gives me a lot of side effects such as drowsiness and the inability to think quickly.
Avatar f tn Now on celexa(40mg) Buspar(20mg) and neurontin at night(600mg) I stayed on the klonopin until I was stable. My doctor added these drugs instead of adding the celexa to the klonopin because he hates benzos. I have to begin tapering off the klonopin and cannot use the water or valium transfer. What would be a good tapering schedule? Anyone know? I was going to try to drop an eighth of a mg every four days. Is this reasonable. I have to work so side-effects are not good.
Avatar f tn t say no to pain pills. I wish I had her courage. I need to taper because I am babysitting next month and need to be in control.. Please let me know of any way to taper or who to ask. Thank You.
Avatar m tn So I've been experiencing chronic leg pain for 3 years now, going from doctor to doctor and getting no diagnosis. 3 months ago under the belief that it may be muscle related I was prescribed qualaquin 324mg tablets and physical therapy, neither really helped much but I faithfully took the qualaquin every night before sleeping. Now recently I've finally been diagnosed with spinal stenosis and given neurontin to treat it.
1474625 tn?1371097079 I realized today when I started taking the norco that the equivalent dose is around 7 pills (70mg hydrocodone), which equals 14 vicodin … I’m very uncomfortable taking such a high dose of opiates, and I want to taper down. This wasn’t working with the tramadol because I couldn’t control the urge to take it but hydrocodone doesn’t give me the same “high”, so I’m planning on tapering to a “normal” daily dosage.
Avatar m tn Neurontin SHOULD NOT BE STOPPED ABRUPTLY! NEURONTIN HAS TERRIBLE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS. MAINTAIN ON LOWEST DOSE OF EFFECTIVENESS AND DEFINITELY TAPER OFF!
1551327 tn?1514045867 When I went to treatment last time they actually had to give me Neurontin to wean me off of the Neurontin. I had never seen them give you the medicine you were abusing to help you come off of it but it was the only safe way to do it. I am starting in the morning back working out and tapering off like they did me in treatment because the withdraw symptoms are actually pretty horrible at first.
Avatar f tn Your body becomes dependant on it very quickly and you need to taper from it. Neurontin is not really geared for the direct neck pain. Neurontin is for the pain that radiates in the limbs. I was told this by two doctors and I did try it anyways. I have very severe neck pain. Is this something they can surgically fix? If it is, then I would be looking for a good neurosurgeon asap. It may not take care of the pain, but it will stop from the progressing damage that may occur.
