8496079 tn?1398412516 I was put on Gabapentin (generic for Neurontin) yesterday by my doctor for my Fibromyalgia Condition in addition to the Norco 7.5/325 I can take up to 4 pills day as needed for the massive pain I'm in.
Avatar f tn Also it reportedly is showing success as a ************** option for fibromyalgia symptoms. Neurotin is chemically similar to the drug Lyrica. Neurontin is also used to treat nerve pain caused by herpes virus or shingles. It can interact with hydrocodone, morphine or naproxen and others. I have taken it but it was not successful in treating my sciatic pain. However others have had relief. I hope this bit of information helps you. If you have additional questions please continue to post.
1855076 tn?1337115303 Just never really see much about it and heard that it really is great for some people for nerve pain. (I believe it was originally an anti-seizure medication.

Avatar f tn I was taking neurontin 300mg/3x a day. It was working fairly well for about 3 weeks, then started not working...they thought I needed a higher dose, but then my old doctor told me it was all in my head and took me off all meds! It did make me tired and actually made me a little depressed. So while I was taking it my doctor put me on Cymbalta to kind of counter act the depression. Which made me even more tired.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed and treated for my fibromyalgia by a pain management doctor several years ago, and then my primary care doctor continued that same treatment. My daughter was seen, diagnosed and treated by a Rheumatologist, and my mother was treated by a Rheumatologist. I went to a Rheumatologist for the first time today, I finally have insurance after 1 1/2 years without.
Avatar n tn I have had fibromyalgia for 10 years. This past August of 06 I filed for short term disabilty, then when to long term disabilty. For the last year and a half I have been having a lot of issues with the fibromyalgia. Back in August of 07 I started stumping, loosing my balance and falling. Back in October I fell and broke my right leg. My question is loosing your balace, falling, etc. part of the fibromyalgia.
Avatar m tn I am 12 days sober from 2 yrs of hydro's. At my peak I was takn 25 10/325 a day and 6 percs. I realized how bad it was but was powerless & scared of w/d's. Day 3 15 100mg tabs. Day 4 to now nothing. I am still getting back my energy levels and workout everyday.
Avatar f tn I've been taking neurontin (gabapentin) for several years, for a nerous system damage condition. It gives me some relief. A for side affects, none that I can say. Completely non - habit forming in my use, and I've been taking 1600mg daily for many years. I honestly don't feel any affects from it. In my opinion, it is a safe drug.
Avatar n tn Fibro is so changing (waxing and waning) that everyone is different and must find what works best for them. Cymbalta, Lyrica and Neurontin are 3 medications that have been used to treat FMS. I hope you find something to help you and your pain. Take care.
Avatar f tn Small Fiber Neuropathy affects two types of nerve fibers: unmyelinated and myelinated. The usual places where small fiber neuropathy occurs does not include the teeth. It does include places on the face and can cause dry eyes, dry mouth, sensitivity to hot and cold, but not specifically affecting the teeth. Now, Neurontin is used to treat small fiber neuropathy and should help the symptoms, however, it may not help with your teeth.
318073 tn?1197565324 I suffer with Fibromyalgia, Sjogrens, RA, Restless Leg, IBS and I really believe the neurontin is great. I believe it helps with nerve related pain such as neropathy. Give it a try for about six weeks and see how you feel. If you take it a night it may help you sleep better. Try not to take it during the day because it will probably make you sleepy, and if your like me you need to sleep at night rather than off an on during the day.
307897 tn?1242419260 Besides Lyrica and Neurontin, what other pain med is really out there for Fibromyalgia? I have taken both. Loved the Lyrica. I had no pain but the side effects were terrible, including the two broken toes. My GP put me on Neurontin and I am up to 600mg as of last Friday. One 300mg in the morning and one of the same at bedtime. I still have pain but not quite as bad but u know it's still there. I have some side effects from it, too, especially legs and ankles swelling daily.
Avatar n tn Anti-seizure drugs are the conventional treatment for fibromyalgia. These include Neurontin and Lyrica. Nobody really knows how these medications treat the symptoms (particularly the aches and pains) of fibromyalgia. These medications can help some individuals with fibromyalgia. But these drugs also have serious side effects.
723959 tn?1314744225 Not sure if I have it, but i think I do. I have horrible pain in my legs, and other places. My skin hurts to the touch. So I thought I would ask you guys before I started it.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia last March. Since then and after trying few different prescription(Neurontin, Cymbalta) I decided I didn't like the way they made me feel and started researching what nutritional supplements could help. I resorted to taking supplements and saw my energy level and some symptoms improve. About 4-6 weeks, I have tingling (pin & needles) in my feet going up my legs and hands. My rheumatologists suggested I see a neurologist, to rule out MS.

1243848 tn?1268460072 I'm glad Neurontin is working for you. I've been told to be careful with Neurontin. At the higher doses it can cause problems for people and if you ever have to have surgery, you need to taper down or you will have serious withdrawals. A friend of mine told me this is what happened to a friend of hers when he was in the hospital and none of the doctors in the hospital would even give him his Neurontin.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I was addicted to them for a while and it took at least 30 days for the physical withdrawals to ease up, as far as the neurontin goes my dr tried it on me but I got really sick after a couple doses and had to stop taking it, sorry I couldn't be more help. Hang in there!!
1073473 tn?1257840649 As far as medication goes, and I am no doctor of course, but anti-seizure meds like Lyrica and Neurontin can be very effective for nerve tingling and pain for some people. I take a sister medication called Topamax, which works well for my nerve problems, but this one can also cause tingling too (ironic) when you are first getting used to it. I suggest talking to your doctor about your symptoms especially if it's been awhile since you've been in to see him or her.
Avatar f tn They would try to find the physical cause. I have just been given Neurontin, for pain and Xanax for better sleep and anxiety. Any info on above mentioned problems, medications would be appreciated. Thank you.
217229 tn?1192762404 Hi there, okay I have taken Neurontin and Cymbalta together. Neurontin is similar to Lyrica, but is a lot cheaper. I could not tolerate the Cymbalta at all. It made me sick with vertigo, nausea, and it didn't help with the pain. I was prescribed this when they first thought I had fibromyalgia and then later found out it was Still's. I have friends that take Lyrica, a lot of them are on the MS forum here and they had little luck with the med itself.
